Chapter 12 - 12

After Peter Parker exited the elevator, he jogged all the way, eager to return to where Uncle Ben had parked the car.

Although he didn't get the anticipated three thousand dollar reward, Peter felt a surge of satisfaction thinking about the expression on the face of that despicable guy who had only given him a hundred dollars.

Why should that guy get away with breaking his word and only giving him a hundred dollar reward?

Ever since being bitten by the mutated spider, Peter's physical fitness had become exceptionally good, and after only a short run, he spotted Uncle Ben's car parked in the distance.

However, he had been running too fast earlier, so Peter slowed down a bit, afraid of startling Uncle Ben inside the car.

Just then, Peter saw two people also running quickly towards the car from in front of Uncle Ben's vehicle.

Peter's eyesight was excellent, and he immediately recognized that one of the two people running towards Uncle Ben's car was the same robber he had let go earlier, the one who had stolen the money.

Watching the direction the two robbers were running, Peter, in a daze, suddenly saw a vision of the two robbers shooting and killing Uncle Ben.

Peter knew this was not an illusion; it was a superpower he gained after being bitten by that spider, allowing him to sense danger in advance based on changes in the surrounding environment and air.

Foreseeing this outcome, Peter's face changed dramatically, and he immediately used all his strength to run towards Uncle Ben's car, wanting to stop the two robbers.

But what happened next was a scene that greatly surprised Peter.

The two robbers, who were clearly heading for Uncle Ben's car, didn't stop at all; they ignored Uncle Ben, ran directly past his car, and continued running into the distance.

What was going on now?

Peter stopped, extremely puzzled; from how the two robbers had been acting earlier, they were clearly going after Uncle Ben, so why would they suddenly ignore him?

But regardless of why, since Uncle Ben's safety was no longer an issue, that made things easier!

Looking at the two robbers still running with the money, Peter's eyes sharpened.

Although these two robbers didn't harm Uncle Ben, they still posed a threat to his safety, and remembering Uncle Ben's words, "With great power comes great responsibility," he decided not to stand by any longer.

Peter squeezed his arm, shooting out webs from his body, and using the powerful webs, he swung between the buildings, chasing after the two robbers.

Although the two robbers ran fast, they certainly couldn't match Peter's speed as he swung through the air; in just a short while, Peter successfully caught up to them, trapped them with his webs, and hung them under the eaves of the police station not far from where they were.

"You dare to rob, you dare to try and harm Uncle Ben, go to jail!"

Peter mentally berated the two robbers fiercely, then remembered the news recently published in the newspaper about the New York street hero Daredevil fighting crime.

Seeing the two fierce robbers subdued by him, helplessly hanging in the air, Peter suddenly felt that if he used his abilities to become a street hero like Daredevil, fighting evil and protecting the city's safety, that would be pretty cool.

But at the same time, Peter felt even stranger.

While swinging through the air, he saw the direction these two robbers were fleeing; they were clearly running directly towards the police station, as if they were walking into a trap, what was going on now?

With a belly full of questions, Peter returned to Uncle Ben's car.

"Uncle Ben, I'm back."

Peter called out, leaning his head outside the car window, smiling, wanting Uncle Ben to open the car door.

Through the car window, Peter saw Uncle Ben sitting inside the car, and in the back seat, his good friend—Ron!

"Ron, you, how are you in Uncle Ben's car?"

The moment he saw Ron, Peter shouted in great shock, and he suddenly felt that all his previous confusions were resolved the moment he saw Ron.

Why didn't the two robbers steal Uncle Ben's car, and why did they voluntarily run towards the police station? It must have been because of Ron, who was sitting in the car, right?

"I just happened to run into Uncle Ben earlier, chatted with him for a bit about how you've been getting irritable lately, and then waited with Uncle Ben in the car for you to come back."

Ron smiled calmly, answering Peter's question.

When Peter called out his name, Ron's mental power sensed that Peter's mental state had suddenly changed dramatically after seeing him, as if he was surprised why he was in Uncle Ben's car.

Although his current mental strength wasn't clear enough to fully understand what Peter was thinking, he could sense from Peter's huge mental change that Peter wasn't surprised by his presence there, but by something else.

And there was only one thing that could surprise Peter so much: that Peter had guessed he had superpowers.

Knowing this, Ron didn't feel anything; his having superpowers wasn't a big deal, and it didn't matter even if Peter found out.

One must know, there are many people with abilities in this world; not to mention the famous Captain America, Steve Rogers, even the existence of mutants had been known by most of the public for over twenty years.

With so many people possessing superpowers in this world, and Little Spider himself being a super-powered individual, what difference would it make if he knew Ron was also one?

"Peter, you're back, get in the car."

At this moment, Uncle Ben, who had heard Peter's voice, finally woke up from his light sleep, unlocked the car, and let Peter in.

It was evening, and Uncle Ben was not young; after waiting for Peter for so long, he had already been a bit sleepy, so he had closed his eyes and dozed off in the car.

"Okay."

Peter responded to Uncle Ben with a complicated feeling, then opened the passenger door and got into the car.

With everyone in, Uncle Ben started the car and drove towards their home.

Ron's house was in the same direction as theirs, just a bit further; Uncle Ben made a turn midway to drop Ron off at his home first.

"Goodbye, Ron, chatting with you today made me very happy."

After parking in front of Ron's house, Uncle Ben smiled and said goodbye to Ron.

"Me too, Uncle Ben."

Ron also smiled, politely replying to Uncle Ben.

"I'll get out and see Ron off, I'll be right back."

At this moment, Peter, sitting in the passenger seat with complex feelings, also got out of the car with Ron, told Uncle Ben, and followed Ron's steps.

Seeing Peter follow him, Ron wasn't surprised and led Peter into his house.

"Peter, sit down, I know you have some questions for me, so just ask whatever you want, I'll answer you."

Once inside the house, Ron immediately sat on the living room sofa and gestured for Peter to sit down as well.

Looking at Ron, who seemed calm, Peter didn't rush to sit down, standing somewhat uneasily in place.

Peter struggled internally for a moment, then finally gritted his teeth and asked what he wanted to know: "Ron, I want to know… those two robbers, was it your doing that they ran towards the police station themselves?"

Hearing Peter ask this expected question, Ron nodded and said, "Yes, it was my doing; I just wanted to protect Uncle Ben's safety."

"...Ron, thank you, you're so cool!" Peter got his answer, and hearing that Ron did this to save Uncle Ben, he immediately felt grateful to Ron.

"Uncle Ben is a respectable elder, and I've received his help before, so saving him is something I should do!" Ron smiled and said to Peter.

Peter's face became exaggerated, and at the same time, Peter suddenly felt he should say something to express his shock.

Then, Peter felt as if a certain string in his mind had been plucked by something, making him blurt out everything he wanted to say to Ron.

"Ron, are you a mutant with superpowers? It must be right, the behavior of those two robbers was so strange, Ron, you must be a mutant. Oh, Ron, what's your superpower… Hmm, let me think, Ron, you could directly make those two robbers go to the police station, so your ability must be mind control or hypnosis, right? Wow, Ron, you're so cool!"

As he spoke, without waiting for Ron to answer, Peter actually started nodding to himself, convinced that his guess was correct, and then continued.

"Oh, Ron, when did your ability awaken, and also, have you ever controlled my mind before? Hmm… that shouldn't be possible, I'm your good friend, how could you control a good friend's mind? That's right, Ron, I knew you wouldn't do that, hehe!"

...Watching Peter Parker endlessly talking to himself, Ron couldn't help but smile wryly; he felt that he seemed to have triggered a hidden trait called "chatterbox" in this version of the usually quiet Peter.
