Chapter 10 - SS1 EP 3

One week later – In Ryōjin's room

He sat at his desk in his room.

The screen glowed brightly as a letter from UA was opened.

A "ding!" sound rang out, and a small hologram projected the image of a person.

And of course — it was that little kid... Nesu.

Nesu: Hey there~ Kazuma!! How have you been? It's been a long time since we last met.

He furrowed his brow slightly, watching the screen suspiciously, wondering what else he would say.

Nesu kept smiling brightly, his cheerful tone almost annoying.

Nesu: Congratulations! You passed the exam! And you ranked 1st in the practical test, even though you got badly injured, haha!

He smirked slightly — of course.

Who else would be crazy enough to throw themselves into a simulated villain group without a second thought like me?

The screen switched to a score summary:

Ryōjin Kazuma – Villain: 87 points / Assistance: 20 points

Total: 107 points

Even more than that hotheaded hedgehog...

Nesu: Welcome officially to UA High School, Class 1-A!

I nodded lightly and closed the screen, then grabbed my phone to call Momo and Mina.

Momo's voice rang out joyfully, saying...

Momo: I'll come to your room! We'll celebrate!

He chuckled softly and looked out the window.

This world really gets more fun every day...

.

.

.

April – First day of school

He stood in front of the mirror, examining himself in the new UA uniform he'd just received.

It looked a bit plain... but whatever, he'd have to put up with wearing this for a while.

He wore his jacket over it, unbuttoned, letting the sides flap in the breeze.

Then he put on his helmet and started his favorite motorcycle.

The engine hummed softly as he stopped to pick up Momo outside her house.

She wore the full UA uniform, neat and adorably proper.

She expertly hopped on behind him.

On the way to UA, many students turned to stare at them.

Some whispered, some were wide-eyed.

Extra student 1: "Hey, who's that? Riding a big bike to school?"

Extra student 2: "That girl's pretty, huh?"

Extra student 3: "Are they a couple!?"

Those murmurs faded behind them along with the engine's sound.

He chuckled quietly, not caring much. Momo just kept looking down, a slight blush on her cheeks.

Ryōjin: Why be shy, princess?

He teased softly while waiting at a red light.

Momo: Seriously... you're always teasing me.

She gently tapped his back.

Soon, they arrived in front of UA.

He parked the bike and took off his helmet.

They walked side by side as students around them continued to watch.

But he didn't care... his eyes were only for her.

Class 1-A... they were about to start a new chapter in their lives.

At the door of classroom 1-A

It's time for class, huh? He stood in front of the door.

"The door is huge, isn't it?" I said, turning to Momo.

Ryōjin: Lady first.

He bowed slightly to his princess, making Momo blush a little.

He opened the door and let Momo lead the way.

As soon as we stepped inside, the first thing he saw was groups of students chatting energetically.

And yes... he spotted some familiar faces — that bespectacled kid and the pink-haired girl.

Hard to believe we'd be studying together now.

I parted ways with Momo and walked to my desk — right in front of hers.

"Desk 21... so there must be one more person," I thought, noticing Momo sat at the very back.

Soon someone came over to greet me — it was Mina.

Mina: Hey, Ryōjin! Long time no see!

She smiled brightly as always.

At the same moment... I felt a pressure, like a killer glare stabbing from behind — yep, that was Momo.

Momo: You know her?

Ryōjin: Yeah... I've known Mina since before entering UA.

Then they started introducing themselves — but I caught a flicker like lightning between them... or maybe I was imagining it?

Then the blonde kid came over to say hi.

Denki: Hey there, handsome! I'm Denki Kaminari!

Next to him was a small purple-haired boy.

Minoru: I'm Minoru Mineta! You guys into pervy stuff!?

Before I could answer, the frog girl slapped Mineta on the head loudly — smack!

I almost burst out laughing.

Then I started introducing myself to friends who gradually arrived.

Everything felt friendly... except for those killer looks still coming my way occasionally.

Today, I'm probably going to get killed by Momo, judging by her expression.

I glanced at the two-toned-haired boy sitting quietly alone.

So calm it was kind of scary — or is he like that Ayanokoji guy?

But whatever. For now, I'd focus on making new friends.

Minoru: I'm so jealous of your handsome face!!

Mineta said with tears running down.

Eijirou: "Do you play any sports?"

Kirishima asked with a friendly look.

Tsuyu: You like frog songs? Kero!

Asui asked, sticking her tongue out naturally.

Denki: Hey, handsome, got any girls you can introduce me to?

Kaminari showed me his phone with a chat list.

Before I could say anything, I heard a noise like a fight from the other side of the room — yep, the four-eyed kid and the explosive spiky-haired one.

Tenya: "Take your feet off the table right now!"

Iida said firmly.

Bakugo looked annoyed. "What!?"

Tenya: "Don't you think it's rude to the person who made the table? And I'm your senior too!"

Katsuki: "I don't care! Where'd you graduate from, extra?"

Bakugo tilted his head and glared.

Tenya: "I graduated from Somay Private School. I'm Tenya Iida."

Iida said proudly.

Katsuki: "Somay, huh... the top school, right? Good, I'm ready to beat you up."

Bakugo slowly took his hand out of his pocket, looking ready to fight.

Tenya: "You wanna throw down!? How can you be a hero like that?"

Iida's eyes went wide in shock.

I couldn't help but yell:

Ryōjin: "Punch him! Punch him! Knock his teeth out!"

Smack!

Someone's hand slammed hard on my head, making me flinch — it was Momo, staring fiercely.

"Stop talking nonsense... don't get involved."

I gave a dry smile, rubbing my aching head — love you, but your strength is no joke.

Before things escalated, the classroom door opened, and a green-haired boy and a round-faced girl walked in.

Midoriya: "Uh... hello..."

He greeted softly.

Iida quickly went to introduce himself to them with enthusiasm.

Then suddenly — whoosh!

A yellow shadow shot out from a sleeping bag in the corner, making the three flinch.

A cold voice came from inside the bag.

Aizawa: "Took you 8 seconds... to quiet down."

The man slowly poked his tired but authoritative eyes out.

Aizawa: "I'm your homeroom teacher, Shouta Aizawa. Nice to meet you."

He tossed his gym clothes on the floor.

Aizawa: "This might be sudden, but everyone... change clothes and head out to the running track!"

.

.

At the UA school's running track

Morning sun shone through the clear sky, a gentle breeze brushing the skin of Class 1-A students standing in a straight line in their fresh gym uniforms.

In front of them was a thin man in an old sleeping bag — Teacher Shouta Aizawa.

Everyone: "An assessment for quirks, right?"

A chorus of excited murmurs broke out, except Ryōjin Todoroki.

Faces were full of confusion mixed with anticipation.

Ochako: "What about orientation? Homeroom?"

Uraraka's polite voice sounded.

Aizawa glanced expressionlessly.

Aizawa: "If you want to be heroes, pointless ceremonies like that aren't necessary."

His cold words made some students exchange uneasy glances — some started doubting where they really were.

Aizawa: "UA is famous for being different, including the teachers here."

Aizawa's voice was sharp — no hesitation.

Suddenly, he took out a measuring device for ball throwing and focused his sharp gaze on a young man standing at the edge.

Aizawa: "Kazuma."

His voice was calm but made everyone turn sharply.

Aizawa: "You got first place in the practical exam? How far could you throw a ball in middle school?"

Dozens of eyes stared at the young man with messy hair and a sleepy look like he just woke from a nap. Ryōjin answered with a bored but clear voice.

Ryōjin: "The farthest was... 79 meters."

Aizawa nodded slightly.

Aizawa: "Not bad... Now try using your quirk."

He threw the ball precisely to Ryōjin.

The other students automatically stepped back, some curious, some scared of stray hits.

Aizawa: "Do whatever you want within that test circle. Go all out if you want."

Ryōjin caught the ball with one hand.

His once playful eyes now looked wild, like a different person.

His shoulder muscles tensed slightly — something in the atmosphere began to change.

Kirishima whispered quietly to Denki:

Eijirou: "Hey, this guy... seems extraordinary."

Mineta broke out in a cold sweat, feeling scared for some reason, especially after glancing into his eyes...?

Momo, standing nearby, slowly smiled faintly as she watched Ryōjin's back — her eyes full of confidence in what was about to happen

As soon as Aizawa finished speaking, before his voice even faded, Ryojin let out a soft laugh.

His face twisted into a grin — half playful, half wild — like a demon enjoying a new toy.

He lightly lifted the ball above his head — and in just a few seconds, a pair of baton-like guns appeared in his hands.

Left hand, right hand — grips that looked like white bones intertwined with sleek black mechanisms. The barrels' ends bore twisted butterfly wing patterns.

He aimed at the ball, voice calm but deep:

Ryojin: "Let's finish this... for real."

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

The guns fired rapid shots with perfect accuracy. These weren't ordinary bullets — out flew swarms of white and black butterflies, which burst midair, releasing massive shockwaves that slammed into the ball.

The butterflies swirled around Ryojin's body; some perched on his shoulders and hair — the scene looked like a beautiful yet haunting nightmare.

The whole classroom fell silent.

Kaminari: "Wait... butterflies came out too?!"

Kaminari's jaw dropped in surprise.

Izuku: "What kind of Quirk is that...?"

Midoriya murmured as he scrambled to jot down notes.

Tokoyami glanced over, his voice cool and composed:

Fumikage: "White butterflies symbolize light... black ones, darkness..."

The butterflies vanished the moment the ball soared out of the circle, shrinking to a tiny speck in the sky.

Aizawa: "First things first... know your limits well."

He said flatly, glancing at the measuring device — 649 meters.

He held up the screen for everyone to see — expression neutral, but his eyes seemed to say, "This is my first-year student."

Kaminari: "Six hundred forty-nine meters!? No way!"

Kaminari practically grabbed his head.

Mina: "Looks like so much fun~"

Mina smiled wide, her eyes sparkling as she stared at Kazuma like he was a brand new toy.

Hanta: "Using your Quirk to the fullest like that, that's what a hero class is all about..."

Sero added with excitement in his voice.

Aizawa turned to look at the group of students who were beginning to find this test exciting.

His tone remained flat but his eyes were icy sharp:

Aizawa: "Exciting, huh...?"

Aizawa: "Three years as a hero... it's not just a game you can breeze through with fun thoughts."

His voice was calm but serious, eyes heavy with weight as he rubbed his scarf and surveyed the room.

Aizawa: "Here's the deal — whoever scores the lowest in these eight tests... I'll personally ask them to leave this school."

The room fell into a stunned silence — like a sudden lightning strike freezing the air for a moment.

Voices erupted from many students:

"Hey, wait a minute!"

"That's too harsh, isn't it?!"

"We haven't even started yet!"

But Aizawa stood firm, expression unreadable.

Aizawa: "Being a hero isn't for those who want to just play around. If you want to be a hero... you've got to start taking things seriously."

Aizawa: "I'm not kicking anyone out on a whim — but this is the real world. If you can't make it, you have no right to call yourself a hero."

Silence took over again — this time not from shock, but from the rapid rise in tension.

Everyone adjusted their stance — faces hardening with determination. Those who had laughed before turned serious; the careless became focused.

Ryojin crossed his arms, looking at the scene with a lazy smile.

Ryojin: "Aizawa's smile is kinda creepy... damn, is he a teacher or a prison guard?"

He shook his head lightly and walked toward the next testing station.

The tests pressed on intensely:

50-meter sprint:

Kazuma dashed like a wild wolf, no Quirk used — just sheer leg strength and practiced speed.

Result: 4 seconds.

Grip strength test:

He squeezed the meter barehanded, veins bulging.

Result: 100 kilograms.

Standing long jump:

Kazuma bent and sprung forward with perfect muscle control, landing gracefully like a trained predator.

Result: Flawless.

Other tests, too, were breezed through by Ryojin — no Quirk, just military skills and hardened training.

Cut to Midoriya:

He stood inside the throwing circle, gripping the ball tightly, body trembling slightly.

Midoriya (thinking): "Just use it again... just once, please."

He focused and threw the ball with all his might.

The ball flew only 46 meters.

Midoriya froze — face pale, heart pounding.

Izuku: "...Impossible... I already used my power..."

He muttered quietly.

A cold voice broke the silence:

Aizawa: "I erased your Quirk."

Midoriya spun around in shock.

Izuku: "Y-You erased my Quirk?!"

Aizawa stepped forward, eyes locked on his without blinking.

Aizawa: "The entrance exam was a joke. Even kids who can't control their Quirk, like you, passed."

Midoriya's face paled further.

Izuku: "That guy with glasses... I get it now... His Quirk erases others' Quirks just by looking... Eraser Head..."

Whispers spread through the students:

"Who's Eraser Head?"

"Never heard of him..."

"Is he really a hero?"

"He's just a beggar."

Aizawa's tone cut through coldly:

Aizawa: "You can't control your power — every time you use it, you get hurt and become a burden to others."

Izuku: "That's not—!"

Swish!

Suddenly, Aizawa's silver-gray scarf shot out and wrapped tightly around Midoriya, pulling him close — allowing a clear view of those determined eyes.

Ryuujin thought to himself:

"Man, that's scary. If Aizawa did that to me, I'd probably get chills just staring at a guy like that."

Aizawa spoke up again.

Aizawa:

"Whether you accept it or not, that's what everyone around you has to do. In the past, there was a hero who saved over a thousand lives single-handedly and became a legend. Even if you have the same reckless courage, after saving just one person, you'll turn into a useless doll. Izuku Midoriya, with your power... you can't be a hero."

Midoriya was speechless. Ryuujin watched that scene and thought, If I were like Midoriya, I wouldn't be a hero either, by Aizawa's standards.

But soon after, Aizawa released Midoriya.

Aizawa: (letting go of his power)

"I canceled out my quirk. You've still got one more eye for throwing the ball. Hurry up and get it done."

Midoriya stood silently, head bowed. Seeing that, Ryuujin felt like stepping in to help.

He shouted out loud:

Ryuujin:

"Midoriya, hang in there! You can do it, buddy!"

Everyone turned their attention to him.

Midoriya glanced over and gave a thumbs-up, flashing a heart-melting smile just a bit. Uraraka, standing beside him, looked worriedly at Midoriya. Noticing this, Ryuujin teased:

Ryuujin:

"Hey, little knight of hers, you've got this! No need to worry about him."

He chuckled softly. Uraraka's cheeks turned bright red. Moments later, Momo pinched his ear again, making him yelp.

Momo:

"Hey! Don't tease her like that!"

Ryuujin:

"Alright, alright, Mom."

He smiled slightly at her. Momo blushed a little, then turned away. Mina caught this and stared at him continuously. For some reason, Ryujin felt a strange chill — and it wasn't just Mina. Even Sero was glaring at him sharply. Weird, huh?

Midoriya prepared to throw the ball again. As he threw, he used the One For All technique at his fingertips in the last moment, generating a powerful swirling blast.

The ball shot out with a small explosion at Midoriya's fingers, booming loudly as it soared skyward like a cannonball. Everyone's eyes widened at what they saw. Numbers flashed on the screen showing the throwing distance: 705.3 meters.

"Whoa—!" a burst of excitement echoed around the field.

Katsuma looked up at the ball and muttered quietly to himself.

Ryuujin:

"Damn... this guy's power is insane."

He laughed softly, hands behind his back.

Uraraka smiled brightly, ecstatic.

Ochako:

"Amazing, Midoriya!"

Beside Katsuma, Momo kept a calm face but secretly sighed with relief.

Katsuma leaned in and whispered to her:

Ryuujin:

"Don't worry, Princess, he's gonna make it. If not, should I strip him down and protest?"

Momo raised an eyebrow and looked at him.

Momo:

"You really joke in every situation, huh?"

Well, I was worried he'd actually get kicked out.

Ryuujin once told Momo that in their second year, Aizawa kicked out an entire class, which made her tense up a bit.

Ryuujin shrugged and smiled.

Ryuujin:

"Life's stressful, what can you do, Princess?"

Momo blushed again and lightly punched his arm.

Ryuujin:

"Hey! Don't hurt me, I'm your lover, you know."

Katsuma's voice dropped to a teasing whisper at the end.

Aizawa's voice cut through the excitement, bringing the tension back.

Aizawa:

"Good... at least you're not completely useless."

He looked at Midoriya, who stood pale but with a faint smile.

Ryuujin looked at Midoriya and thought:

"Not bad... even if the guy's fragile, he's got something."

Izuku:

"Sensei... I can still move, really!!"

He said, face clearly showing the pain he was holding in.
