He points the gun again.
Max (shouting):
Come on, Roy! I'm your buddy!
Roy pauses for half a second. Max kicks upward with his legs. The gun flies out of Roy's hand and skids across the floor. Roy grabs it, furious, and aims again.
Max (quickly):
Hey! You're a coward!!
Roy freezes. Max yells with desperation:
Max:
You think you're the only one who's lost someone?!
Everyone loses people they love. You're not alone!
And what? You think you're strong—killing a man tied to a chair?
If you've got guts, then untie me.
Toss the gun.
Let's go one-on-one—like men.
Roy (smirking):
You think this is a movie?
Steps closer, calmer now, but dead in the eyes.
Roy:
I never had an ego, Max. That trick won't work.
I'm going to kill you—
and then I'll kill myself.
Max (trying to reason):
Other people lose their loved ones too—
but they don't become murderers.
Isn't that what courts are for? Justice?
Roy (softly, tear in his eye):
Exactly.
And I tried.
I begged. I fought.
But nothing changes… because the world only listens to the rich.
Roy (a tear falls, whispering):
There is no justice. ( His hands trembling his voice break and with regretfull eyes ) Sorry max I can't control it anymore.
He fires the gun.
CUT TO BLACK. SILENCE.
Soft piano music plays. The screen is black. Over it, we hear the shattered voice of Ronald crying:
Ronald (voice trembling):
Mom... Lyla... Libby... Nick...
Max... I'm sorry!!!
Suddenly—CRASH! The police break down the door.
They enter with guns drawn... and freeze.
Ronald is on his knees, surrounded by blood. Max lies motionless. Ronald stares blankly ahead, the gun beside him.
[FADE TO BLACK]
