Chapter 7 - Shadow Master's and his home

As soon as he said "activate," the black Shadow Master suit he wore emitted a sound, and its extensions deployed. All the hidden weapons fell out, leaving him holding only two daggers—small violet-bladed weapons. They featured a traditional metal core, but the blades were now upgraded with an energy field capable of cutting even the hardest metals. Such daggers were exclusively military issue, from the force where Ah-Jin had once served. He'd been kicked out due to his belt origins, and that same military had delayed clearing a hospital, which led to Kiri bleeding to death.

He surged forward. With the hidden weapons discarded, the suit's extension boosted his strength and speed. He dashed towards the enemy so swiftly even the machines couldn't track him. A Raptor unit tried attacking, but he moved too fast; one of its arms was ripped off, then another, and another. Soon, every small machine lay broken on the floor, the operators inside dead. He piled the wreckage and bodies into a heap and advanced. Park Ah-Jin, the Shadow Master, moved swiftly, stopping before the leader who was barking orders. The leader drew an astral gun. WHOOSH! Blue rays shot out. Jin shifted left, then with a burst of the suit's raw, upgraded strength, delivered a straight punch to the leader's arm, disarming him. Jin stomped on the weapon, shattering it.

He then drove his dagger straight into the robot's chest. It pierced the metal, striking the central chip—the robot's heart. The machine ceased functioning, and Jin removed the leader. The man looked pale and terrified, yelling, "DON'T KILL ME! I WAS ONLY FOLLOWING ORDERS!" "Too late for apologies," Jin stated. "If anyone threatens me, my daughter, my home, or my people, this is what happens. Because the Belt's Shadow Master is always here to protect the Belt." Haerin came running and hugged her father. "Appa, I'm sorry; I shouldn't have come," she cried. Jin tied up the leader and threw him next to his broken robot, adding them to the pile of bodies and machines, forming a small mountain of the defeated army. He picked up Haerin and sat atop the heap, waiting.

Meanwhile, in Yeji's small home, she, Min-ji, and Cho watched the distant lights, flashes, and screams. The screams ceased early as Ah-Jin had drawn the army towards the dump area, minimizing casualties. Eventually, the flashes and fighting noises stopped too. Cho said, "Now that you're a fugitive, I think it's best you live in the Belt. No one will dare enter that area to track you down there."

Yeji nodded, packed some money and clothes, and they left in a hover car for the elevator descending to the Belt. Entering the Belt area, they saw a commotion, people streaming towards a specific location. They followed the crowd and stopped. Ah-Jin, sitting atop the pile, saw them and stood. "Look, people! The top authorities are here!" he announced. He lifted the leader's head, placing his dagger against the man's throat. The surrounding crowd parted, allowing Cho, Min-ji, and Yeji to come forward. Ah-Jin spoke: "This is what happens to Upstairs people. This is our home, and I, the Shadow Master, will always protect my home and my people. Consider this a warning: if you start a war, we will end it." He then sliced the leader's throat, walked down carrying Haerin, and silently departed for his restaurant and home.

The crowd began chanting "Shadow Master!" before dispersing to their homes. Yeji and Min-ji stared at the pile of defeated robots and their dead operators. Cho stood frozen, his mind fixated on Jin's identity. "He is the Shadow Master," he breathed. "What's this Shadow Master?" Min-ji asked. "He was a legend," Cho explained. "During the resource wars with other cities, there was a troop called Shadow Death. Deployed at night, they'd silently destroy and kill everyone. Their leader, the best of them, was none other than the Shadow Master... Ah-Jin." He turned to Yeji. "You'll be safest here. If the Shadow Master is here, the entire Shadow Death unit must be in the Belt. Let's go." He led Yeji and Min-ji to the now-closed gate of The Rust Wok.

He knocked, and they entered, finding Ah-Jin using bandages and medicine to dress a wound. "I don't think I invited you inside," said Ah-Jin. "You were the Shadow Master. Where did you disappear to?" Cho asked. "I didn't disappear anywhere," Ah-Jin replied. "When the city's ruler changed, our squad and everyone born and raised in the Belt were kicked down. The last ruler let Belt people work Upstairs, but when he retired, we were expelled. Hence, I'm here now."

Cho hesitated, then stated, "Mr. Jin, there's a problem with Yeji. She used to roam the Belt. When she broke up with her toxic ex, he revealed her regular visits here. Now, they consider her an enemy and a fugitive. She needs a safe place to stay, so—" Ah-Jin cut him off. "So you thought this was the safest place for her? Hahaha! What a joke. If you visit the Belt, you're an enemy? Well, it doesn't concern me. Do whatever you want." He returned to applying medicine, Haerin sitting beside him, helping while talking softly to herself.

"It does concern you, Shadow Master," Cho insisted. "Now that you've killed and destroyed an Upstairs military unit, they'll start a war. Having her here could help. She's smart and different from everyone else." Jin stood up and walked towards Yeji. "Cho, let them start a war. And we have a word for Upstairs people like you: we call them Rich Snobs."

He turned around, went to the counter, took out a card, and gave it to Yeji. "Looks like you're running here because they won't follow. Take this card. It has an address and contact details. Tell them the Shadow Master sent you. You'll be hooked up with a good house. Also, sorry—we here in the Belt can't afford fancy technology like you people have, so we use this card stuff." He went back to applying his medicine. They left The Rust Wok.

Here are the additional paragraphs following your outline, seamlessly continuing the corrected narrative while preserving the original style and tone:

They examined the card, its edges worn soft from use. Following the scrawled directions through the Belt's labyrinthine alleys, they arrived at a listing, rusted shipping container. A crooked sign hung by frayed wires creaked in the polluted breeze: **"Max's Home Finder."** Min-ji snorted, a burst of incredulous laughter escaping her. "Home *Finder*? In this?" she muttered, eyeing the dilapidated structure.

Pushing aside a heavy, patched tarp serving as a door, they stepped into the dim interior. A single flickering bulb illuminated dust motes dancing in the air. A hunched figure shuffled behind a makeshift counter piled with papers and oddments. "Welcome," the man rasped without looking up, his voice gravelly. "I am Max. How may I help you?"

He finally lifted his head, squinting through the gloom. His eyes, sharp and suspicious, scanned their cleaner clothes, their posture. Recognition flickered, followed by a scowl. He spat onto the packed dirt floor. "Heh. It's the rich snobs. Go away." With a dismissive grunt, he deliberately turned his back on them, rummaging pointedly through a crate.

Yeji stepped forward, holding out the card like a talisman. "The Shadow Master sent us," she stated clearly, her voice cutting through the thick silence.

Max froze mid-motion. Slowly, deliberately, he turned around again. His earlier hostility was replaced by a guarded, calculating sharpness. He eyed Yeji, then the card, then Yeji once more. "If *he* sent you," Max conceded, his tone shifting to a grudging neutrality, "then tell me... how can I help you?" He leaned forward slightly, waiting.
