Chapter 103 - Chapter 22: Feixiao — “I touched it, but… something feels off?”

Ps. (This novel is currently completed. You can read it on Patreon.)

After greeting Jing Yuan properly, Wei Yi left the Divine Foresight Office.

Then he received a message from Feixiao—

Telling him to come find her in Changle Heaven.

Soon after, Wei Yi met up with Feixiao in Changle Heaven, where she'd already finished buying things.

"We need to pick up more supplies. There isn't enough food on Cangxing yet—we'll have to restock from here."

On the skiff, Feixiao smiled at Wei Yi. Behind the skiff sat Hua, who'd come along.

"Why didn't you just let me help carry it over in one trip?" Wei Yi asked.

"We bought too much. You can't finish buying all of it by yourself in a short time."

Feixiao rolled her eyes—pretty as ever—then looked at Wei Yi.

"Fair." Wei Yi nodded in agreement. "Wife's thoughtful as always."

He sat to one side of the skiff, pulled a huge bag of beef jerky from his lap, bit down on a strip, then casually fed another strip to Feixiao.

Feixiao's small mouth chewed as she swallowed it down.

Maybe because she was focused on piloting, Feixiao didn't notice that the entire bag of beef jerky in Wei Yi's lap had already been picked up and taken away by Hua behind them.

So Feixiao reached over to grab more—

Only to find… the bag wasn't there.

She felt around lower.

This time she touched something.

But this "beef jerky"… didn't feel as hard as before?

Touched it, but… something feels off?

She felt again.

Mm. Now it got hard.

But the texture was becoming… strangely familiar.

Even through several layers of fabric, Feixiao realized this "strip" wasn't the same as the one she'd just eaten…

For a moment, Wei Yi and Feixiao locked eyes.

Neither of them showed what they were thinking.

Hua, behind them, had a question mark basically floating over her head—she had no idea why the two suddenly started staring at each other so in sync.

Cangxing wasn't far from the Luofu to begin with. Now that the Luofu, Yaoguang, and Cangxing formed a mutual defensive triangle, travel between them was convenient.

That was also deliberate on Wei Yi's part: if enemies struck, reinforcements could arrive faster.

Though Wei Yi didn't think anyone would be stupid enough to attack the Xianzhou right now.

Cangxing still needed a long time to fully recover. Even though Wei Yi had reshaped its ecosystem, at the moment Cangxing only had the plants he'd revived—

And the group of Cangcheng people he'd rescued.

Only Xianzhou physiology could survive over a thousand years of suffering and still be saved by Wei Yi.

The other worlds consumed by Shijie Rahu—Wei Yi had no way to help.

They'd been fully digested.

There was no possibility of restoration.

When Feixiao drove the skiff back at full speed and arrived on Cangxing, everyone had already begun preparing in advance.

While Feixiao and Hua were away, something amusing happened.

Acheron saw everyone busy with tasks while she herself had nothing to do, and felt a little bad about it. So she went to help.

She tried to help start the fire—

But Xiaoguang politely redirected her to Yueyu, who was washing vegetables.

Then she got redirected again to Longyue, who was cutting vegetables.

After successfully cutting several ingredients so thoroughly that there wasn't even any dregs left, Acheron silently walked over to Marshal Hua—who was also "doing nothing"—to huddle together for warmth.

They chatted happily for a bit when, suddenly, a live chicken Sushang had brought from the Luofu didn't know how to… be dealt with.

Hua walked over and—three moves, five slashes—bled it, plucked it, and had it ready.

Acheron froze on the spot.

I treated you like my best friend… and you betrayed our friendship!!!?

In the end, Acheron could only sigh, sit down on a white plastic street-stall chair, and hug her great tachi in silence.

Everyone else had something to do.

Only she didn't.

"Nihility… I'm used to being alone. Whatever."

So when Wei Yi returned, what he saw was a back view absolutely radiating power.

He was one step away from walking up and saying: "Hey, Acheron—hand over your great tachi!"

"Looks like everyone's here… but where's Suyi?" Wei Yi asked.

When Wei Yi and Feixiao carried the ingredients over, he scanned the crowd and didn't see Suyi.

Jingliu was here, though—pulled over by Baiheng, chatting and working.

Well—Baiheng chatted. Jingliu worked.

"My mom?" Sushang replied with a bright smile when she heard Wei Yi's question. "She said she gained a new insight. She's going into seclusion again…"

"I see." Wei Yi nodded. "So she learned something else from Jingliu."

Suyi's talent wasn't merely good—it was monstrous. Otherwise she could never have become Yaoguang's Sword Champion in such a brutal environment.

Of all the Xianzhou, Yaoguang was the most "primitive" one.

As the sharpest spearpoint of the Hunt, other ships' generals might be strong—there might even be people inside those ships who surpassed them in technique.

But on Yaoguang, that didn't apply.

Yaoguang worshiped martial strength. Feixiao was the strongest, and besides Feixiao, the strongest in swordsmanship was Suyi.

That was universally acknowledged.

It was also why the other ships' Sword Champions didn't come to the Sword Kui selection: one, they were truly too busy; two, if even Suyi couldn't beat Jingliu, then they probably couldn't either.

In a sense, Suyi represented the others in the duel against Jingliu.

"Doctor, you're amazing! This planet is so pretty—did you really remodel it yourself?"

While everyone worked, Yunli ran barefoot across the grass and sneaked up to Wei Yi, putting on a sweet, obedient face.

She'd been caught sneaking food while helping, so Huaiyan had shooed her away.

Kids, go play. Don't cause trouble.

That was basically the message.

Of course, Huaiyan's tone to his granddaughter was far gentler than his words.

Someone unfamiliar might be fooled by Yunli's expression…but Wei Yi knew exactly what kind of gremlin she was.

This girl—

When she's being nice for no reason, she's absolutely up to something.

"It's true. I did it," Wei Yi said.

"So… so strong… Doctor, can you easily make something like the Fetal-Moving Moon now?"

Yunli looked at him with sparkling eyes full of stars.

Wei Yi: "?"

For some reason, looking at this little brat put him on edge, like she was about to cook up a new disaster.

"Doctor, you see—Yanqing and I were evenly matched. But he secretly learned a move from Sword Kui Jingliu and now he's got the edge! I'm so jealous! But that move doesn't fit my style, so I can't learn it. Do you have some secret technique that can help me catch up with him directly?"

Yunli stared at Wei Yi with pure expectation.

But maybe because she felt guilty, she kept her voice low, afraid others would hear.

As if anyone here wasn't a monster-tier existence.

With her tiny scheming.

Who was she fooling?

"What do you want?" Wei Yi asked flatly, forcing her to say it outright.

"Hehe—Doctor, you get me." Yunli grinned. "Nothing much. Can you make some pills, or give me a permanent body buff? You know my style—big strength, big smash. Stamina is never enough. And after Grandpa taught me the Buddha's Fury Fire Lotus, my stamina is always not enough. So… can you give me a blessing or something? I'm not greedy! Just let me use Buddha's Fury Fire Lotus like throwing firecrackers, okay?"

Wei Yi: "?"

Cough cough cough—!

From the side, Huaiyan suddenly started coughing violently.

Everyone's attention snapped over.

"Cough—excuse me. Old man choked a little. Ahem. Please forgive me," Huaiyan said, stroking his beard with a harmless smile.

Others had seen the Buddha's Fury Fire Lotus and knew it was strong, but didn't think much of it. Same tool, different user—different result.

But Huaiyan did.

He knew exactly how terrifying his granddaughter's talent was.

Even if her Fire Lotus wasn't as strong as his, she could still output about thirty percent.

And don't let "thirty percent" fool you.

Huaiyan's original technique could ignite a sun.

Yunli's thirty percent? Blowing up a small moon-sized celestial body was realistic.

A planet eating one of those could still trigger mass extinction.

"So… not that I can't," Wei Yi said, shaking his head. "But—you're not ready yet."

"Why?" Yunli blinked.

"Because you're still too young." Wei Yi smiled gently. "Strength has to be trained into your body to truly be yours. Look at your Sister Feixiao—she honed her body to the absolute limit first. Then, with my augmentation, she became this strong. If your foundation isn't enough, even if I give you power, you won't be able to use it freely."

He glanced at her with amused eyes.

This kid was asking to get her skin thinned via a beatdown.

Using Fire Lotus like firecrackers?

Normal firecrackers kick up pebbles.

Your "firecracker" kicks up planetary continental plates.

How is that the same?

But the fact Yunli had this thought also proved Yanqing was indeed nasty.

In truth, Yunli vs. Yanqing wasn't guaranteed either way.

Huaiyan's technique was brutal—Yunli could use it now, and she'd keep using it later.

It was one of the most reliable powers under the Emanator tier: pure violence and destruction.

Back then, Huaiyan had once been a refined, gentle man—

Then he lived long enough, fought enough abominations, and developed a deep-seated fear of "insufficient firepower."

Sometimes he even worried Buddha's Fury Fire Lotus still might not be enough if the Abundance swarms came.

Because the Abundance abominations are called abominations for a reason.

One of them being: their numbers are insane.

Normally, an Emanator can't be beaten by non-Emanators.

But everything has a limit.

Ants can bite an elephant to death.

That logic applies everywhere—unless you're so strong you can rewrite rules, like an Aeon… or Throne-tier.

But how many of those exist in the whole universe?

Throne-tier is probably more common than Aeons, sure, but even then—maybe two per Aeon's worth would already be generous.

Across a universe this vast?

Still vanishingly rare.

Outside those beings, even an "ordinary" Emanator—no matter how strong—still has limits.

And the abominations?

They're endless.

The IPC doesn't classify them as "chaos forces."

They treat them as natural disasters:

You run into them, you're unlucky.

Don't blame the Company.

The Company can't help.

They're just here to do business.

Anyway—after Wei Yi's smooth talk, he finally managed to "pacify" Yunli.

"Haa… I wonder how my mom will be when she comes out. Will she be even stronger?" Sushang sighed nearby. "Whatever. I need to cultivate harder too. Otherwise she'll start talking about making a new account again—and no, that won't do. This young lady is strong too!"

Wei Yi suddenly wanted to see what would happen if this Sushang met Honkai's Li Sushang.

Would Suyi grab Li Sushang's hand and go, "Ah, so you're my real daughter!"?

Even Hua almost broke earlier when she saw Sushang's "phoenix manifestation."

She nearly recreated that classic meme—trying to hold back laughter.

If there was a chance later… Wei Yi considered asking Sparkle to help arrange it.

Masked Fools were everywhere. Maybe one had been to that world before.

And Welt was already here—might as well return the favor and help him find a way home.

Though Wei Yi also wondered if Welt would get elbowed by an enraged wife for wandering the stars solo.

A mechanical arm elbow still hurts.

A lot.

"By the way, if you've got nothing urgent these days, settle your Vidyadhara affairs," Wei Yi suddenly said during dinner, turning to Longyue. "I need you to come help me with something."

"And who do you think you are? Why should I listen to you?" Longyue snapped, clearly displeased.

Don't think becoming a "higher-up" means you can order her around!

She was the mighty Lord of Heavenly Wind—how could she be so easily dispatched?

Wei Yi shrugged. "Nothing. I've been researching the draconic transformation method lately. If you're not interested, I can just ask one of Luofu's Dragon Elders instead."

"Wait—!" Longyue's face changed instantly. "I was joking. Let's talk properly!"

Her expression switch was so fast everyone almost lost it.

But Wei Yi mentioning draconic transformation immediately caught their attention.

Because if Wei Yi was doing it…

It might actually work.
