Chapter 561: Skirk and the Star-Devouring Whale!
"Don't worry. Since I pulled you out, I'll take responsibility," Ren said, his expression serious. "You might not believe it if I just say it, so let's solve the problem from its root."
Space fluctuated, and the group disappeared, reappearing in a place as quiet as the void. It was not a void, but a boundless, tranquil sea.
"Splash!!!" Suddenly, surging waves impacted them. Leaping out of the sea was an incredibly massive whale.
"Eek!!!" Compared to Focalors and Neuvillette, Furina had shrunk behind Ren, scared out of her wits.
"Primordial Sea… Star-Devouring Whale…" Focalors murmured incredulously. The Primordial Sea before them was the culprit in the prophecy.
Fundamentally, Fontainians are not human. They are transformed from Hydro Eidolons, a process that involved stealing the power of the Primordial Sea. This was their "original sin" against the Heavenly Principles. Upon contact with the Primordial Sea, they would dissolve.
Although Neuvillette had many questions, the whale leaping towards them left him no time for thought. He raised his hand, attempting to stop it.
"Stop."
However, only Ren's indifferent word was heard. The massive body of the whale seemed to be under some pressure, falling straight down and stirring up huge waves. It floated on the surface like an obedient dog.
"How did you do that?" a clear, steady voice rang out. A silver-haired, red-eyed woman walked out from a shattered spatial rift. Her gaze, after a glance at the whale, fixed on Ren.
He chuckled lightly. "Absolute power."
"…" These words made her narrow her eyes. "Power from beyond this world?"
"Wait, wait, wait!" Focalors waved her hand. "Can you all introduce yourselves and explain the situation?!"
Neuvillette was even more so.
"You can call me Skirk. As for the whale, it's my master's pet," the woman said concisely. Her gaze swept over them. "Your combination is truly strange: a Hydro Archon, a Hydro Dragon Sovereign, a created human, and a… person from beyond this world."
Hydro Archon… created human… Two titles. Looking at the identical Focalors and Furina confirmed Neuvillette's guess.
"A pet? Is there such a dangerous pet?" Furina poked her head out from behind Ren. When with him, she instinctively didn't feign the elegance of an Archon.
"The Primordial Sea is the reason for the prophecy. So the whale… are you stirring up Fontaine's destruction?" Neuvillette frowned.
"It is not the culprit. Only the Primordial Sea can wash away the sins," Skirk calmly stated.
"So as long as the Primordial Sea disappears, the Fontainians will be saved, but this is not simple."
"…" Focalors and Neuvillette were speechless. This was a fact. Even as the Hydro Archon, she could not control it.
"Erasing the Primordial Sea is a very easy matter. But my home seems to lack a pond," Ren pinched his chin, uttering seemingly frivolous words.
Skirk frowned. She could sense he was from beyond this world, but couldn't discern his power. Is he exaggerating, or does he truly possess such power?
A moment later, Ren extended his right hand. "Since you all dislike the Primordial Sea so much, I'll just take it away."
As his voice fell, before they could react, an indescribable sensation of engulfment filled them. It was as if a black hole in his palm was absorbing all light. They only felt everything instantly turn pitch black. A short yet long period passed, and before them remained only emptiness.
