Chapter 58 - A Jester's Play (2)

"Darkseeker? The creature of the night?"

She continued.

"Oh dear...you are aware of my species. Your intelligence is remarkable."

The serpent scoffed in reply and smirked with content.

"It doesn't matter if you happened to be a bit more powerful. Alas, you will sssstill die"

Her nails grew longer and she slithered right past me within mere seconds.

The sword in my hand moved alongside with her, the dark colours from yin encircling me entirely. The corner of my sword grazing at her scales, failing to cut through.

She reached the other side, having failed to claw me to death. She looked intrigued now, smirking and hissing with her tongue still dangling from the corner of her mouth.

I needed to do this quickly.

As my entirety was left somewhere else, waiting to be found by me.

"You appear to be in a hurry."

"You have guessed that right Madam. For my heart aches while pondering about her."

"You sssshouldn't worry much. Both of you would die here anyway. Yet, if lucky you can may meet in the afterlife."

She was comforting me in a way it was difficult to grasp her motive.

"Ssstrange...you sssspeak of her with the same desperation that I crave as well."

She remained silent and slithered closer to me.

"I'm unfortunate in love...it was my mistake to eat someone who was in love. Her feelings are still awoken within me."

She hisssd regretfully, I'm almost at the verge on sparring her some pity.

"That fae...loved him so much. Now I'm in love beacuse of her."

She played around with her scales and continued.

"I can't even eat him, the thoughts of not seeing him again became a nightmare."

"Have you made a deal with the Demon King."

For an instance, she looked suprised. I've hit the nail on the head. She gave a very unexpected genuine smile, bimming with a mix of pain and happiness.

"The Demon King would spare him if I did what he asked today..."

"Is that so..."

She nodded in reply, her cold fingertips twitching.

"You have a tragic love...I hope mine doesn't turn out the same..."

"What is your love like?"

My love? What a question.

"Let's put it this way. If I was blessed with immortality...I would call it a curse. Because, even a split moment with her is thousands of eons of bliss equal."

My heart throbbed below my chest while the hands that she took once was lingering.

She stared at me, her face not depicting a trace of jealousy.

"You are a yearner..."

"Call me a yearner or a jester, I couldn't care less. What matters is that I need to find her immediately."

She smiled for the last time and slightly bowed towards me.

"After you die, I will make sure to relay your love before killing her as well."

I chuckled under my breathe and bowed in the same manner.

"I give you my word too, madam. I will relay your love if you die."

She nodded once again

Right then-

The face I was looking moments ago was gone. Her face and body grew larger into the shape of a giant serpent.

There was no humanity left in her.

My gaze fell down, complex emotions surged in my blood.

What if my Mademoiselle was as unfortunate as her? Would I still pull my sword?

It was getting difficult.

I wanted to be merciless.

The darkness filled the air as the stage began to lighten up with hues of white and black. The snake before me struggled to open her eyes because of the luminous.

White lilies glowed radiantly from the stage. Aether flame emerging like the night.

This was my power.

The gust of wind came from below along with the floral scent from the liles.

I stood there, glistening and shining amidst the dark night. The glimmer from me was like a seraphic wave. The music slowed down, as the bells begin ringing from a distance.

Small simple lights emitted from my body and slowly two giant wings began sprouting from my back.

Obsidian wings fluttered amidst the garden of tender lilies. Yin and yang were being overshadowed by my presence.

The wind carried my top hat away revealing the curly umbral hair of mine. The star reflected the spectrum of my eyes alongside.

And with care, I unveiled my face.

The clouds danced with my fingers and motioned with my wings.

I played around with my sword, performing a gentle dance.

My feet took a step back and with my footwork, the lilies followed my rhythm.

It was more than a spar.

It was a Jester's Play.

A beauty so captivating, you would never see my alternative motives.

A jester would move, shift his gaze, play around with music and when the calm and comforting breeze brushes past your hair. The wings on my back would lul you to slumber, it would be the same as inhaling poison willingly.

That is the Jester's Play.
