"We have to stop. I need water." Tala said to Ulva.
"I can hear a stream not far from here. Let's get to it. We will be there in no time." Ulva said and continued to move.
Reika and Tala have been running for hours. They had no idea where they were. But Ulva was sure they had covered a considerable distance from the pack.
Hannah was surprised at how fast they were moving. She asked Ulva because she had never felt her move as quickly as she did that day. Tala wasn't able to keep up and Ulva had to pick her up. It was a few miles back that Tala began to run on her own.
They continued to move and in no time, they arrived at the stream. They drank some water and sat there to rest.
'We have to keep moving. There could be wild rogues close by. To avoid getting attacked.' Hannah advised Ulva.
'You are right.' Ulva agreed. She looked around to make sure nobody was watching them or approaching them.
Ulva called Tala and they continued with their journey. Not knowing exactly where they were heading. All they were doing was following the direction of the moon.
They kept running as the night got darker. Ulva felt pity for little Tala. She knew their little cub must be tired because she herself was tired. They decided to find a place and rest for the night. The next day, they will continue the journey.
After moving for some minutes again, they found a clearing.
'If we continue with this journey, we can collapse at any moment. We need to rest for the rest of the night here.' Ulva said.
Hannah agreed with Hannah. They planned to spend the night under a tree.
They set their stuff there and laid to rest, without caring to transform into their human form.
Within seconds, Tala was fast asleep. Ulva felt for their little cub. She wasn't complaining but it was obvious the little one was tired for a while now. Ulva was about to sleep too when she heard rustling from the bushes. At that moment, Hannah could feel Ulva's excitement. She felt the same thing earlier when they stopped for some water. However, at the moment, they might be in danger. There was no time to focus on that feeling. They might be getting attacked by rogues.
Soon, four huge wolves jumped out of the bush. They looked angry and as if they were about to attack. They were clearly not rogues. They looked more like warriors because they looked like they were well trained and very huge. They snarled furiously at them.
Ulva was quick to pull Tala close protectively. Because the wolves surrounding them looked like they were about to attack them.
Suddenly, both Hannah and Reika caught a scent, which distracted her from the warriors.
A very sweet and calming scent that filled them up. It was heavenly and unique. A smell of lavender mixed with pinecone. It was better than they could describe it. They might be in danger at the moment, but the scent made them feel calm.
'Is this possible? Could it be?' Hannah began to ask Ulva. Before she could think much on what they were perceiving, a big black wolf jumped out of nowhere. He stood between them and the warriors.
Ulva thought the warriors were huge but this black wolf was much bigger than them all. He made them look small in his presence. It was the biggest wolf They have ever seen. The black wolf looked majestic and his fur shone under the moonlight.
The warriors took a step back and the black wolf turned to Ulva. He looked at them with his gleaming green eyes.
At that moment, it felt like everything stopped. Everywhere felt silent to both Ulva and Hannah. Soon, Ulva said something that she never thought to hear for a long time. Or even hear it ever again.
'Mate!'
'Mate?' Hannah asked, dumbfounded. 'What do you mean mate?' She asked further, looking at the big black wolf standing before them. She continued to take In his scent, while he watched them intently.
'New mate' Ulva repeated again. She couldn't hold herself in place because of excitement. She wagged her tail as she ran towards him.
'Ulva, don't!' Hannah tried to warn. But before she knew it, Ulva was already In Front of the big black wolf. She looked much smaller when she got closer to him. She nuzzled his neck with hers.
"Back down, you rogue." The big black wolf barked at Reika. It made her to unwittingly step away from him as she whimpered.
'No... Noo... This can't be happening again. He is our mate. He doesn't want us either.' Ulva said with so much disappointment as she spoke.
'Calm down, Ulva. I don't understand what is happening either. He looks like he is about to snap our neck now. You have to be careful.' Hannah advised her. Because the big black wolf was still staring at them but he looked more angry after Ulva went to him.
Just then, he began to advance towards them with slow steps as his snarls became more audible. Ulva also took the same slow steps backwards.
He never stopped until he had Ulva near a tree. He finally stopped. He also looked like he was fighting with himself. He growled "Shift." The command.
Not minding the powerful aura that came with him and his command, Ulva growled back at him.
Hannah was scared for both of them. 'Ulva, now it's not the time to act tough. We are weak and he can easily kill us with a single snap. Don't act tough.' Hannah advised. She had never experienced such an aura that came with the black wolf's presence, or his words. It also looks like disobeying him would be the end of them.
"I said shift!" The big black wolf repeated his words. This time around, it was more demanding and almost impossible to disobey.
