Chapter 7 - Chapter 7

"Wake up you mutt!"

Hannah heard a faded voice talking. She opened her eyes and it landed on the window. It was already dawn. She then turned to the cell railings and a figure was standing on the other side. At first, she thought she was dreaming but the voice was persistent which made her open her eyes. She noticed the man had a bowl of soup in one hand and a bottle of water on the other hand. She couldn't deny that it smelled so good. She swallowed her own spew.

"Are you going to sit there and stare at me like a lost fool, or will you come and take this from me?" He asked with anger. "I have other things to get back to and not to serve you. A bloody rogue at that." He added before throwing the bottle of water into the cell through the railings. He then slid the plate under the cell bars.

Hannah was quick to pick up the water bottle. She then rushed to get the plate. But before she could reach for it, the man had already slid it, making dust rise and particles of sand got into it. Nonetheless, she quickly picked it up.

"I don't know what is so special about that rogue that they are serving her with good food." The man muttered as he walked away from the cell, causing other prisoners to murmur.

Hannah ignored it all. She gulped again when she saw the content of the bowl. It was well prepared chicken soup. It had loads of meat in it to the extent that you could hardly see the liquid in it. It made her stomach grumble in delight. In her entire life, she had never been served an appetising meal like the one in front of her. She had a taste of it. She closed her eyes as the taste was even better than it looks.

'Zoe is going to love this.' Hannah thought as her attention turned to Zoe's sleeping figure.

Hannah put the bowl aside and got up. She walked to the small bed and began to wake Zoe with a light tap.

Zoe was quick to respond. She sat up and rubbed her eyes.

"Mommy, I had a very bad dream. We were locked in a place-" Zoe halt in the middle of her words when she realised it wasn't a dream. They were actually looked in a cell. Her eyes began to water seeing it was all real.

Hannah quickly pulled her close. "It's ok, baby. Everything is going to be alright. I will always be here for you and I won't let anything happen to you." She promised the girl.

Zoe's tears fell as she raised her head to look at her mother. "Mommy, will we ever be happy?" She asked.

That was a tough question for Hannah. It was something she also wished for. But from the look of things, it might never be possible. "Look, they brought food for us." She diverted Zoe's question, knowing Zoe was definitely hungry.

"Chicken!" Zoe said with excitement. She rushed to the bowl and began to eat. In no time, she ate the whole thing. Hannah wasn't bothered. She was used to being hungry and her daughter's satisfaction meant everything to her.

After the early breakfast, they both went back to the position they were laying earlier. Zoe went back to sleep. This time around, it was a more comfortable sleep because she ate well. While Hannah couldn't sleep. She had a lot going through her mind and she wondered what was going to happen to them next after that.

A few moments later, she heard a familiar angry voice again. The man that brought them food earlier was the same man that came back. He stomped his feet angrily and kept cursing as his voice and steps got closer. This time around, he had a thick blanket with him. Through the railings, he squeezed it and pushed the blanket towards us. "I don't know when rogues began to receive royal treatment. Just let them starve to death or better yet, make the process faster by snapping their necks." He said with anger before throwing it on the floor and storming out of the place.

Hannah got up and went and picked it up. The blanket was not too thick but it was fluffy and it was going to give them more comfort. At least they were treated better than where they came from. Even if they were going to torture them or kill them eventually. Hannah thought.

"A rogue and a prisoner served with food and blankets!" A voice from an opposite cell spoke. He then snorted. "You must be a special one. for being treated like a princess. I wonder why you are here." The voice added.

Hannah couldn't see the person talking but it was clearly a male's voice. She heard some shuffling from the same cell and soon, a figure came forward. His face finally appeared, looking all dirty. So was his brown hair that adorned his face.

"We are not special, we are just rogues that entered a territory and were caught." Hannah said to him. "Who are you?" She asked further.

"I am a prisoner, just like you." The man said. "Only that, I am not lucky enough to get on the good side of the king. But it seems like you did." The man added.

Hannah looked at the man as if he had grown an extra head. "King," you said. Are you referring to the Alpha of- where exactly are we?"

The man was mute for a second. It was his turn to give her the look as if she had grown a second head. "You are kidding, right?" He asked.

"No, I am not." Hannah shook her head. "I have no idea where we are. What is this place? Where exactly are we at?" She asked.

"This is the moon shade pack. And no, I wasn't mistaken for the king with Alpha. The pack is headed by the Alpha king." The man explained with a serious tone.

"What do you mean Alpha King?" Hannah asked. She was stunned as she didn't know what the man was talking about.

The man snorted. He really thinks Hannah was joking. "I mean the courageous, fearless, strongest Alpha of the Alphas. Xavier Blackthorn, the Alpha of Moon shade pack and also the King of the Alphas." He explained.

Hannah blinked once, twice. It sounded more like he was praising the so-called Alpha king. 'Why would he praise someone that had him locked up to starve to death?' she thought to herself. "I have heard of the Alpha king but I have never seen him. What is he like?" She asked.

"I am sure you haven't. But when you do, you will know it." The man assured her. "The man is tall, really handsome with black hair and looks scary with his intense dark eyes. Although his wolf is scarier. A very huge black wolf with even scarier black eyes." The man explained to her. He continued talking but Hannah was stuck at some words the man had spoken.

'Dark eyes, black wolf and scary?' Hannah repeated in silence. She zoned out at that moment. A thought crossed her mind. What were the odds that she was mated to not just an alpha but to the Alpha king himself?
