Chapter 162 - Danger

Time, space, antimatter…

The very world trembled.

The aura from the three legendary Pokémon blanketed all of Sinnoh.

The world itself was holding its breath.

Even faraway, their power pushed against the skin, heavy enough to crush a weaker mind.

Dialga. Palkia. Giratina.

Three gods of the Pokémon world, gathered in one place.

Their presence alone created an overwhelming pressure.

It washed over the battlefield like a tidal wave, swallowing everything.

Even the Sinnoh Elite Four couldn't stand their ground.

Aaron's Drapion crouched low, its serrated claws trembling.

Bertha's Rhyperior, usually unshakable, lost all the fire in its eyes.

Flint's Magmortar let out a strained groan, the flames around its shoulders flickering weakly.

Lucian's Bronzong hovered unevenly, runes across its body dimming by the second.

Even Cynthia's ace, her Garchomp, the unstoppable pseudo-legend, could barely lift its head.

Its wings twitched helplessly against the weight of divine authority.

Because the ones standing before them weren't just strong Pokémon.

They were gods, true gods.

And there were three of them.

None of the Elites fully understood how Cyrus had summoned them, or how he was controlling them with the glowing red chains coiled around their bodies.

None of that mattered anymore. All they could feel was dread.

"…" Cynthia's voice broke through the tension.

"Sam… what do we do?"

Sam stepped forward without hesitation.

Despite the pressure trying to crush his lungs, he kept his posture firm.

A calm breath escaped him. His eyes remained sharp.

He gave Cynthia a small, confident smile, one meant just for her.

"Relax. I already called Rayquaza."

Cynthia's eyes widened slightly. "You, what?"

"Rayquaza should be here soon," Sam said, as if he were announcing the weather.

"Step back with the others. Leave this part to me."

Facing three god-tier Pokémon, Sam didn't flinch.

If anything, that quiet confidence in his tone only made Cynthia's heart settle.

She knew he wasn't reckless. If he said Rayquaza was coming… then it was coming.

Only a god could fight another god.

And right now, Sam was the only one who could stand on that battlefield.

"…Then be careful," Cynthia said softly.

Her voice held none of her usual champion steel, only genuine worry.

She guided the Sinnoh Elites back, creating distance. None of them argued.

They could barely stand as it was.

When Cynthia finally retreated to a safe range, Sam turned his attention fully to the three gods.

His expression shifted, calm, analytical, almost detached.

The system window flickered in his vision as he scanned each of the legendary Pokémon.

Cyrus had already noticed Sam, of course.

Hard not to, Sam walked directly to the front, facing three deities as if taking a peaceful stroll.

The red chains tightened around the gods, reacting to Cyrus' control.

The air shivered.

Cyrus' expression twisted into a mockery of courtesy.

"Well, well. Professor Samuel." His voice dripped with satisfaction.

"Funny how smoothly my plans unfolded. I suppose I should thank you."

Sam raised an eyebrow, lips curling into a warm, almost polite smile.

"Oh? Glad to hear I was helpful."

"Helpful?" Cyrus laughed quietly, pride gleaming in his eyes.

"You deciphered the ancient tablets. Without you, I never would have solved the final clues needed to awaken the three gods. You gave me everything."

He spread his arms as if welcoming the apocalypse he had created.

"And to show my appreciation…" His voice lowered to a cold whisper.

"I'll make sure your death is quick."

Sam's smile didn't fade.

If anything, it deepened, not with arrogance, but with quiet resolve.

Cyrus mistook it for fearlessness.

Cynthia, watching from afar, recognized it for what it was: Sam's certainty.

Even standing before gods, he believed in his path.

Because Sam knew one thing Cyrus didn't.

Rayquaza was already on its way.

And when he descended, no red chain in existence would be strong enough to hold the sky itself.

Cyrus didn't wait for Sam to move.

The moment his mocking words left his lips, the Red Chain in his hand pulsed like a heartbeat.

"Dialga, Roar of Time!"

Dialga's eyes glazed with the dull shine of forced obedience.

Its jaws opened, gathering a violent swirl of temporal energy.

The air twisted, rippling like heat above a desert.

"Roooooar!"

A beam of pure, white temporal power erupted forward, the force of it distorting the world around it.

Sam let out a short, cold exhale.

In one smooth motion he lifted the Light Stone.

The stone pulsed, pulling in the lingering divine energies around the mountain.

The ground shook as a brilliant white glow burst outward.

A massive, majestic white dragon materialized, Reshiram.

Its wings fanned open, stirring the air like a storm had awakened.

"Reshiram," Sam shouted, voice crisp and clear.

"Overclock mode! Counter it, Fusion Flare!"

"Roooooar!"

Reshiram's voice was pure and resonant, echoing across Mt. Coronet like a sacred proclamation.

Flames gathered at the base of its tail, spinning faster and faster until the sound resembled a jet engine revving to maximum.

Light poured from its body, white, gold, and scorching.

Then, Fusion Flare erupted, a blazing inferno of divine fire.

Time and fire collided.

The explosion shook the mountain to its core.

The blast was so violent that even the Elite Four, who had retreated far behind Cynthia, staggered backward despite covering their ears.

Dust rolled across the field like a tidal wave.

When the smoke thinned, Cyrus' expression darkened.

The grin he wore twisted into something sharp and ugly.

"…Impressive," he admitted.

"Reshiram's power is undeniable."

His voice shifted, cold with arrogance.

"But you're still delusional. One Reshiram will never defeat me, not when I command all three gods of Sinnoh!"

He raised the Red Chain again.

"Dialga, Roar of Time!"

"Palkia, Spacial Rend!"

"Giratina, Shadow Force!"

He thrust his arm forward.

"Destroy him!"

Three roars shook the heavens.

A blade of warped space tore the air open.

Temporal power surged like a tidal wave.

A dark, spiraling force burst from the shadows, absorbing all light around it.

Three divine attacks.

Three directions.

All aimed at Sam.

Cynthia gasped. The Elite Four braced instinctively, even though the attacks weren't aimed at them, the pressure alone made their bones feel hollow.

Sam didn't flinch.

"Reshiram, Protect!"

"Roooooar!!!"

Reshiram's cry vibrated the earth. It pulled its wings in close, channeling energy through every part of its body.

A milky-white barrier erupted outward, shining like a dome of light.

Then,

BOOM!!!

The combined might of three gods slammed into the shield.

The world went white.

The impact was so heavy that the ground beneath Sam and Reshiram cratered instantly, leaving a hole hundreds of meters deep.

Energy crackled in the air, tearing at reality itself. The space around the pit fractured, revealing a glimpse of a black void beyond.

Even Cynthia, far away, stumbled on her feet.

"What power…"

When the shockwave finally faded, Reshiram's shield flickered.

The great dragon panted, its wings trembling from the effort.

Even a legendary Pokémon could only endure so much divine pressure.

Sam's expression softened.

"Reshiram… you did well. That's enough. Come back."

Despite its exhaustion, Reshiram heard him clearly.

It let out a soft hum, eyes gentle, before its massive form dissolved back into radiant energy and returned to the Light Stone.

Sam held the stone carefully, almost respectfully.

To him, these beings weren't tools, they were partners.

But he didn't summon Reshiram back out.

There was a reason.

Because at that exact moment…

The sky changed.

The wind stilled. The clouds parted.

A pressure far greater than the Sinnoh trio's rolled across the mountaintop, pure, ancient, and overwhelming.

Everyone felt it.

Aaron froze mid-breath.

Flint's flames extinguished on instinct.

Bertha whispered in shock.

Lucian's glasses nearly slipped off his face.

Even Cynthia's eyes widened, her heartbeat stuttering.

Because this aura didn't merely push down.

It descended from above, high above, like a king returning to its throne.

Sam lifted his head slowly.

A long, piercing cry echoed across the heavens.

A green, serpentine shape cut through the clouds, scales shimmering like emerald lightning.

Its gaze carried absolute dominance, as if the entire world was beneath it.

The lord of the skies.

The dragon who ruled the upper atmosphere.

The one no chain could bind.

Rayquaza.

The Sky High Pokémon had arrived.
