Chapter 1 - : A Dragon? In My Life?!

Kaito always loved dragons. Whether it was manga, late-night anime, or games, dragons always felt special to him.

Their scales, wings, fire, and power made his boring world seem brighter, even if just for a littlenwhile.

One evening, lying in bed, Kaito whispered, "Man, dragons are so cool… I wish this boring world had dragons and magic."

He chuckled at himself, knowing it was just a silly thought, and drifted to sleep.

The next morning, Kaito headed to the

bathroom, still half-asleep. The wet floor from last night was waiting for him. His foot slipped, and before he could react, his forehead slammed into the wall. Everything went black.

When Kaito opened his eyes, he found himself lying on soft clouds, surrounded by endless white. Confused he tried to sit up.

"Where… am I?" he muttered.

A voice echoed, sounding bored. "Oi! Wake up! This isn't your grandma's house."

Kaito asked blushing. "Who's talking?!"

"You died. Slipped in the bathroom. Pretty lame, huh?"

Kaito's face burned red. "No way! That's embarrassing!"

"Anyway," the voice continued, "you've got two choices: go to hell or enter a fantasy world."

"That's obvious! Fantasy world!" Kaito shouted.

"Oh? Any last request?"

"I want… a slow life. And a pet dragon," he said softly.

The voice chuckled. "A slow life with a dragon? Fine. Done. Now get going I want to watch TV."

"Wait! What kind of god are you?!" Kaito yelled, but before he finished, the clouds under him vanished, and he fell.

With a soft thud, he landed in a wide green field. A breeze brushed against him as he sat up.

"Woah… did I really get reincarnated?"

Next to him lay a black egg with faint red lines. It glowed softly.

"Wait, is this… my dragon egg?"

He gently picked it up, holding it close.

Suddenly, a floating screen appeared:

Guardian System Activated

"You are now the guardian of the calamity-class dragon prophesied to destroy the world.

Keep it safe, or you will die."

Kaito's mouth dropped open. "W-what?! A dragon that will destroy the world?!"

System: "From now, your name in this world is Kaelan. My name is Guardian System. I'll help you to keep the dragon alive."

"Kaelan… huh? Sounds nice, I guess," he whispered.

System: "If you fail, you die. If you succeed.. well, you still might die, but good luck."

Kaelan says what kind of sick jock is this and what type of dumb system are you.

Kaelan gulped, staring at the egg. Being excited to witness a real dragon "You didn't ask to be a calamity dragon, right?

Don't worry. Papa's here."

Days passed. Kaelan built a small shelter, explored the fields, and talked to the egg every night.

"Hey, little one… Papa's here. You don't need to be afraid," he would say, gently patting the shell.

System: "Reminder: Raise bond by feeding and caring to unlock dragon power."

Kaelan ignored the numbers. To him, the dragon wasn't just a mission.

One evening, under the sunset sky, cracks appeared on the egg's surface. Kaelan's heart raced.

"Wait… you're hatching?!"

The cracks widened, and warm light leaked out.

"Hey! Don't be in such a rush to destroy the world!" Kaelan suggested nervously.

The egg ignored him. A snout poked out, then two tiny horns, and finally, two big round white eyes stared at him.

Kaelan gasped. "You're… adorable…"

The baby dragon sneezed softly and tilted its head.

System: "Dragon hatched successfully.

Current power: sealed. Bond starts at 0%."

Kaelan gently lifted the dragon. Its warm scales felt smooth. "You're smaller than I thought…"

The little dragon stared, then said softly, "Papa…?"

Kaelan froze. "Huh…?"

"Papa?" the dragon repeated, tilting its head again.

Kaelan almost fell over from shock and happiness. "Yes! Papa's here!"

System: "...Cringe."

"Who asked you?! Shut up!" Kaelan snapped, hugging the baby dragon closer.

Night came. Kaelan lay under the stars, the dragon curled up on his chest. Its tiny claws gently held his shirt.

"You're supposed to destroy everything… but you look so gentle now," Kaelan whispered.

The dragon yawned and closed its eyes, breathing softly.

System: "Bond is still 0%. Feed and care to raise it and unlock power."

"I know," Kaelan murmured, smiling.

His eyes slowly closed, feeling the dragon's warmth.

Morning light woke them up. The little dragon blinked its white eyes and nuzzled Kaelan's chin. "Papa…"

"Morning, little one," Kaelan whispered.

System: "Time to feed your dragon. Proper food raises bond."

Kaelan scratched his head. "What do dragons even eat…? Meat? Berries?"

The dragon tilted its head, watching him closely.

Kaelan stood, holding the dragon gently. "Papa really doesn't know… Should I look for something?"

He glanced at the bushes and trees around him.

"What should I feed you first…?" Kaelan whispered, feeling nervous but excited.

He thought about many things like meat and fruits but unknowing what type of things will actually be healthy for the baby dragon.

And so, under the morning sun, Kaelan took his first step as a guardian, asking himself:

How do I feed my little calamity dragon?
