Chapter 3 - Don't Get Caught

K-pop Demon Hunters AU – Fan Event Special

The fans called it "The Holy Crossover."

For the first time ever, Huntrix and Saja Boys were holding a joint fan sign event — a two-hour surprise meet-and-greet with fans, giveaways, mini-games, and a short acoustic duet.

The Internet broke within seconds.

Fan theories exploded. #HuntrSaja trended worldwide.

And, somewhere in a very pink waiting room, Zoey Han was trying very hard not to look directly at Mystery.

He was two chairs down.

Close enough to hear her breath when she laughed.

Far enough to pretend nothing was going on.

Very far from the truth.

"Stop staring," Rumi whispered behind her fan.

"I'm not," Zoey lied.

"You just replied to a fan with 'Uh, blueberry?' when they asked your favorite color."

Zoey sank into her seat, face on fire.

From his seat, Mystery glanced over and smirked.

He'd definitely heard.

The fan line was moving fast. The groups were signing lightsticks, hugging plushies, complimenting outfits. Every now and then, a fan would whisper something suspicious like:

"Zoey-unnie, do you really not know Mystery's ideal type?"

"Mystery-oppa, is it true you like girls who dance like the moon?"

They both laughed them off. Politely.

But inside, their hearts were screaming:

"We've been caught."

When Zoey's pen slipped and wrote "Zoystery" instead of her signature on a fan's album, she nearly died.

The fan gasped.

Zoey froze.

Mystery coughed violently.

Rumi kicked her under the table.

Mira just whispered, "I ship it."

Later, during the mini-game round, the host called for two members from each group to pair up for the "Mystery Gesture Game."

Of course, fate (and the very mischievous staff) partnered up:

Zoey and Mystery.

As they stood on stage, back to back, the crowd lost it.

Signs waved. Phones flashed.

Even some managers were cackling behind clipboards.

"Word is 'umbrella'," the host said with a grin.

Zoey turned.

Mystery turned.

Their eyes locked —

And immediately, they both burst out laughing.

Instead of miming an umbrella, Zoey mimed Mystery holding her close, shielding her from imaginary rain.

The fans went feral.

Mystery responded by miming Zoey kissing his cheek.

The crowd SCREAMED.

They didn't win the game.

But everyone agreed: they won hearts.

Backstage, after the madness had calmed, Zoey collapsed onto the couch, cheeks sore from smiling.

Mystery sat beside her, not too close, but just enough to brush knees.

"You almost exposed us," he teased, nudging her.

"You literally mimed me kissing you," she whispered back.

"You started it."

They giggled softly, trying not to draw attention.

But the room was noisy, and they had a moment to breathe.

Zoey leaned her head on his shoulder, just for a second.

"Fans are scary."

Mystery nodded, glancing around. "Wanna know something scarier?"

"What?"

He looked down at her, voice warm as honey.

"I don't care if we get caught."

Her heart skipped.

"Because if the world finds out I'm yours..."

He took her hand gently beneath the blanket Mira had left earlier.

"...then they'll just have to deal with how lucky I am."

Zoey turned red.

She squeezed his hand.

And whispered something so soft, so sweet, it made even Mystery blink:

"Lucky? I'm the one who gets to love the boy behind the mystery."
