Chapter 1 - Descendant of Hades

The large monster hit the small figure with its large hammer till its body gushed out blood and its bones were turned to dust.

The demons at the audience hailed the beast and it raised its hands up in victory. 'Clean-up demons' came out to check the pulse of the smaller demon and he was dead according to their confirmation.

Making an X sign with their arms, everyone hailed the beast even more for killing the creature and the body was dragged away by the clean up demons.

A certain scarred girl moved in the backstage, struggling against her restraints. She didn't want this. Her been here was a mistake but no one wanted to listen to that.

"Moving on to the next demon to fight for her survival…the white demon!!!!"

The audience cheered loudly as a girl emerged from the VIP area. Her long white hair was tied in a loose ponytail making some strands fall down on her face. She looked out of place in the dark arena.

The girl backstage watched closely, curious about the white demon.

"As everyone one knows, this is the survival level so the rule is to 'kill or be killed'. Now…FIGHT!!!" the arena coordinator said and the demon beast roared and charged at the white demon.

Some persons hailed 'Demon Beast', the large demon while others hailed 'White demon'. The White demon blocked the punched the beast threw at her, feeling no pain despite his large fist.

It surprised the audience when the white demon leaped up and kicked him in the face, sending him flying backwards. His body made a contact force with the wall, breaking it down almost immediately.

The demon beast stood up, raging more that before for the humiliation from a petty demon. He charged his menacing horns towards the white demon and his speed was threatening. The white demon calmly held him by his horns and flung him towards another wall.

The audience let out an uproar, praising the white demon but the fight was not over. This time, she attacked the demon, jumping in the air with a strong scream, ready to impale him with her sword but he blocked the attack weakly with his hammer but that was enough force to send the white demon flying backwards. She caught her feet, sliding back.

The demon beast charged one more time but she was ready. She leaped up, kicking his nape and that made a crack sound. She landed on her feet, gathering all her angelic and demonic energy into one fist before hitting it straight into the part where she knew his heart would be. That made a perfect cavity and the demon beast met its end.

The crowd let out an uproar, and it became even more intense when she used her sword to cut off his head and raised it up.

The audience kept on chanting 'White Demon' and the clean-up demons came around to do their job. They were very scared to take the head of the Demon Beast away from the White demon as it signified her victory but she gave one of them.

"Keep this safe." She said and turned away from them after they gave her a nod.

The girl backstage looked away, wanting to ignore the gory sight. The next and last fight was hers and it turns out she would be fighting the white demon. She was shaking with fear already. The white demon looked cold and strong. She only got hit once and if her final attack could send a large demon like that to his grave then who was she?

She had fought many times but never won. She only fought the omega level where killing was not allowed and she never won. She obtained an ugly scar the first time she fought. That scar cut from the left side of her forehead to the right side of her neck. Other scars were there because she tried to escape and that was why she was restrained and they probably wanted to kill her now since they know she was too weak to even fight in the survival level.

"Moving onto the last fight of the day, a demon from the omega level challenged the white demon."

A sound of surprise left the crowd and the girl backstage gasped. She never did that. Turning the survival level fight to a challenge only meant a more intense fight and now she could give up on 'surviving'.

"Her name is Quest, the daughter of one of our demon kings and sponsors, Hades."

Everyone gasped while the white demon squinted. The four demon Kings seated at the top also narrowed their eyes especially Hades.

"Now, let's see if she is a true descendant of Hades. Let the Crudren emerge!!!"

The gate was hauled up and the girl at the backstage was pushed out along with her restraints. Everyone murmured. She looked pale, weak and ugly and it was already concluded that she may not survive. Others thought she would due to the ugly scars that looked like it would have killed her.

The white demon stood up straight, scoffing a small chuckle at the 'descendant of Hades'.

"Now, FIGHT!!!!" the coordinator yelled an the white demon charged at Quest fiercely. Quest made to run while yelling;

"I am not supposed to be here. Please spare me!!!" The restraints pulled her back, making her fall. She sat up as the white demon stalked towards her menacingly. She finally freed herself and the white demon swung her sword at Quest but it was a narrow escape.

Putting her speed to work, Quest ran around, trying to avoid the white demon because she couldn't fight. She narrowly escaped attacks from her sword and the audience were too confused to even hail anyone. Some even laughed as the fight had turned to a clown show. Others were annoyed at the fact that Quest didn't want to fight.

The white demon was annoyed also. She leaped up and landed before Quest, trapping her so she was backing a wall. Quest was busy eyeing the small dagger beside her. It was probably dropped by a contestant.

"You are such a coward." She swung a punch but her opponent ducked, making her hand create a cavity through the wall. That surprised the Whit Demon Quest grapped the dagger and without so much thinking, she stabbed the white demon in her right side.

The audience gasped.

The white demon pulled out the deeply inserted dagger and dropping it on the ground, glaring at Quest with renewed blood lust. She drew out her sword and aimed for Quest's throat, wanting to slit it but Quest barely dodged. It cut her throat but it healed almost immediately and formed a scar immediately.

Everyone saw that.

The white demon was shocked.

The demon Kings were curious.

The audience was silent.

Hades stood up; "I declare this fight over. The Crudren and the White demon can now move onto the Survival level of ascension."

He announced and he crowd let out a defeaning uproar, hailing just the white demon but she was out of it. She just left the arena.

Quest looked around as her vision slowly failed her and she slipped into the world of darkness. Knowing what was next…

"Devil's Walls."

Quest gasped awake. That voice seemed to cover up a one hour sleep. She struggled to sit up but a sharp pain shot through her neck.

"Argh!!" She fell back, not able to lift her head much. She felt the part that gave her so much pain and realized that there was a scar there. She finally recalled how she almost escaped the sword of the white demon but she still got a scar.

Her scars were like injuries. They would hurt for months and would finally become dark marks and that contrasted with her very pale skin.

She sat up carefully this time, noticing her surroundings. She was now in a plain room which was actually better that the cold floors she slept on in the basement.

As if someone knew she was awake, the door opened. Her fuchsia eyes darkened immediately.

"What are you doing here?" She muttered under her breath because she knew he would hear.

Roun was standing before her with that same guilty expression on his face. She scoffed in her mind. He never had that expression when he gave her the scar on her face.

"Why shouldn't I be here? You are my mate, Quest." He sat on her bed but she moved away.

"I have warned you countless times, Roun, stay away from me." She said, angry already and that was giving her a migraine.

Roun looked hurt, his fluorescent eyes were now dim. Roun was known as the last Femont. He was a complex combination of light, darkness and neutrality. This made him reach the Hall of Fame with just few fights and he was amongst the strongest males too.

He was the first person she fought, the reason why she had three black claw marks cutting from the left side of her forehead to the right side of her neck. Although he tried to make amends for everything and accept her, she thought it just guilt overwhelming him not the mate pull and she would not fall for it.

If she could survive fighting the White demon then she would survive everything, reach the top and leave this deadly pit.

"Get out of this room." She said.

"I am sorry, Quest. I really am." He said with pleading eyes. She only smiled, demons can never trust demons because demons are very good tricksters.

She let out a shaky breath and slipped out of the bed.

"Quest." He called out, his eyes following her clumsy movements to know when to move but she was stronger than he imagined and he was proud of that. He had wanted to save her but he couldn't let anyone know she was his mate or one of them would have to die and it would undoubtfully be her because she was a female.

She walked up to the window and pulled the thin black curtains to the side. She shivered slightly due to cold but what was going on outside was a pitiful sight.

Disciplinary demons, as they were called in the Hell's Arena were whipping a weaker demon. The weaker demon's back was covered with deep wounds and he was just whimpering with every whip because he was too tired to shout.

"Get out." She said again.

Roun didn't plead this time, he stood up and strode towards her direction. She could sense it but she remained calm. In as much as she refused to admit it, she really wished she could be with Roun.

Nature was just against them. He had hurt her the first time they met and the Hell's Arena would surely murder them both if they found out.

"Get out." She said coldly this time but he moved closer and hugged her waist. Her eyes widened for a split second but she repeated again "Get out, Roun. Get out or you wouldn't like me if I do what is on my mind."

He buried his face in the right side of her neck not minding if she was still uncleaned.

"I am sorry." She whispered in her ear and that was it. She pushed him away, sending a jab in his face.

"I warned you countless times. Stay away from me. I know you want me to die but I will disappoint you. I survived a challenge I never opted for and I will survive the Survival mode of ascension. Now get out."

Roun felt pained but he still nodded and walked out of the room.

Quest sighed.
