James sat across from Roger's desk in his office. The two of them had spent the last hour discussing the previous evening's revelations. Roger had been far more willing to believe the full account than James would have been if the situations were reversed.
"So we know that she has some kind of entity that has abilities beyond our understanding helping to protect her," Roger said thoughtfully. "But I think a little caution on our part might be prudent."
"What did you have in mind?" James asked curiously.
"A security detail," Roger said, and raised a hand before James could object. "Not a full time security detail. Just some plain clothes sergeants that know how to keep their mouths shut who can unobtrusively keep an eye on them when they are away from the house. While it might be unnecessary, and this entity may be able to ensure your daughter's safety, why take unnecessary risks? Once things calm down, we can suspend the security detail. You know as well as I do that some idiot in Washington might decide to take matters into their own hands. Let's be prepared for that possibility."
James sighed and nodded. "You're probably right. Thanks for your support in this. I hate to abuse your position. I've already done that enough the last couple of days."
"You know I don't have any children and probably never will," Roger said seriously. "Heidi's always been like a niece to me. I want her safe too."
