The periphery of the temple remains were beset by the relentless bellows of the desert sand. The atmosphere was bright and scorching but took less of Kalen's attention.
Before him, two radiant figures, enshrouded by their glory, hard to be perceived by mortality. Still kneeling under pressure, Kalen listened to the words of the divine.
" Kalen Obiora Vale, an eighteen year old who recently got admitted into the university of technology, dead at the hands of a mutated. Lived a life of hatred to gangs and cults due to the disappearance of his father on the twenty fourth july, year, two thousand and sixty.
Has trained in the mortal act of Kickboxing and devoted to mastering it to a supreme length. He lived a bitter life at the existence of ' Enhanced Humans ' and secretly wishes to become one.
Now the point of redemption has come, Deceased Kalen. You have passed a dreadful test and have now been given a new chance at an adventurous quest." The female divinity said.
Moments passed then he heard, " I am Azenoth, The Cosmic God Of Undead Resurrection. I and my counterpart have summoned and trialed your soul. To see if you are worthy to be given a second chance as my monarch."
At the moment, Kalen felt a weight being removed temporarily from him, and he could finally speak. " So what if I refuse, why did you test me of all people? Why aren't I in the afterlife." He bombarded.
The Gods grew silent, staring at him blankly, then said. " Time isn't of the essence mortal, you can't refuse for the only thing awaiting you in the afterlife is Tartarus.
Your will is intriguing, it burns brighter than most mortals. You were chosen because you were the only match. The world you exist in is far greater than you think.
Supernatural beings exist alongside the so called ' Enhanced ', your world has been designated to be the anchor hold of Ten fading deities of which I am one of them."
Kalen listened with rapt attention, anyone in his position would. " All Gods thrive on a singular individual aspect. Most need worship, some belief, few have special aspects. Like I and my counterpart which thrive on nothing but acknowledgment.
When a deity is severed from his aspect of growth and becomes a fallen, they fade with time into inexistence. So as a natural code, I and ten others of my fellow fallen Gods decided to anchor to your world.
It took thousands of years to fully be connected to your World's Will. To fully be anchored a deity would have to select a monarch which would be its vessel in the human world.
And I Azenoth have chosen you." The divinity summarized. Kalen stood, awestruck by what he had just heard.
" Impossible, it can't be. Your story is flawed. So you mean to tell me other gods are chosing their monarchs right now. And a new type of superpowered humans would soon emerged." He asked impulsively.
The glow from the divinities shimmered slightly.
" The other divinities have been anchored to your world thousand to millions of years ago. The oldest was anchored to humanity when it first emerged. I as a cosmic deity took longer for reasons yet to be revealed."
Kalen scoffed, " So those monarchs are still existing today."
" Affirmative."
" Why don't they come out and do something about the state of my world, Gods are supposed to be good, aren't they." He asked.
" Gods could either be benevolent or malevolent. Those anchored before me work on their own befit and growth and their ideology doesn't align with the mortal thought of good and evil.
The condition your world is in is due to the supreme leadership of the nine monarchs. Here you shall be granted the power to be one of them. To stand by their side or go against them."
There was nothing to ponder about, this was the only way to gain far greater power than he sort. Suddenly he spoke, " What makes you think I would accept this your power."
A gentle hum came from both divinities. " We followed your every path from the day you were born. We knew you fate and know your will. Kalen you are a microorganism to our level and we aren't even here, it seems you doubt our divine presence."
Kalen sighed, it would be useless to play hard to get with Gods themselves. " What benefits do we gain from each other in this bond." He asked.
" We fuel each other Infinitely. I give you the power of a demigod, you spread my existence with mortals. So I receive acknowledgement and get anchored to your world. I feed on that acknowledgement and grow evermore powerful and so do you."
Remembering his loved ones and family back in the living world, Kalen gritted his, he couldn't die and leave them. Nevertheless this one in an infinite timeline opportunity offered him what he longed for the most.
Power. Profound power.
The power to change his path and achieve his goals, but this opportunity promised to give him power beyond that. Moreover for this power, he would have to work extremely hard and face daunting challenges to gain it.
Overall, he was ready, ready to change his fate. " What are my missions, all of them. " Kalen asked. " For now you aren't strong enough to comprehend the full scope of your task. However for now you task would be to aquire a following."
Preplexed Kalen asked, " Like a cult or gang?'
" You may put it like that. " Azenoth replied
" Do I have to do things like rituals and sacrifices?" Kalen asked again.
" Those formalities are needed by the pure Gods, I am a cosmic one. In need of only acknowledgement, so as long as your followers acknowledge my existence, we both benefit." The deity responded.
Then added in the following seconds, " I know your fears Kalen, I don't wish to turn you into a corrupted being. I don't wish to break you into becoming the forces which destroy the innocent and helpless.
Rather I leave it all in your chosing, your path to benevolence or malevolence is in your hand. It seems our time is up, if you accept this offer proceed to the Throne of Revitalization and become The Monarch Of Resurrection."
