Chapter 111 - Chapter 111: Speedrun 22

While sneakily running around aided by Senzo's vector manipulation, Death was slowly but surely closing in on the cyclops, while War was confronting the heavily injured monster in what looked like a messy street fight.

Death could only silently sigh; luckily they had War because if they didn't have anyone that could keep the monster occupied like War in a frontal assault, it would be basically impossible to keep distracting it.

And while approaching the monster from behind, Death gripped his scythe as tightly as possible; he would try to deal as much damage as he could to make it easier for War to keep facing him.

Because right now it wasn't looking too good for his red brother; his armor was constantly getting crushed in all kinds of unnatural ways, but Death wasn't worried about that at all.

War didn't have anybody inside the armor after all; he was the armor itself, a living armor. That was also the reason why Battlefield Escalation was such a broken ability; as long as even a tiny bit of his armor remained, he could completely regenerate it.

Keep going, brother!

War, on the other hand, wasn't paying attention to his surroundings; he was solely focusing on trying to tie up the cyclops in front of him, and even though they had injured it quite significantly, its strength was still many times higher than its larger form.

"Bastard!" War growled while his helmet was completely crushed.

But that didn't even faze the red armor; he just kept swinging his sword, and thanks to his abilities, the fight was slowly but surely becoming more and more even, especially with Senzo helping from the shadows as well.

Thank you, master!

War felt a weird fuzzy feeling run throughout his whole body, just thinking about how his master was helping him have this much fun even right after gaining them as a power.

When his helmet regenerated, the cyclops felt something was amiss; he could clearly feel the life force of this piece of scrap metal becoming stronger and more ferocious the longer their battle went on.

"How are you doing that?" he suddenly inquired, while stopping his onslaught.

"Do what?" War replied with a shrug.

"..."

The cyclops could only roll his non-existent eyes seeing how shameless this red piece of scrap was being.

"How are you becoming stronger the longer we fight? Even I have never seen anything like that in all my years of fighting strong opponents, and what's even weirder is how you aren't dead after your helmet and head were completely crushed."

"Hehe, what can you give me if I tell you?" War asked, clearly taunting the monster in front of him.

"..."

The cyclops's mouth kept opening and closing like a fish while he stared at the piece of armor in front of him.

"How about I let you all leave?"

"Hmmm, that doesn't sound too bad."

Hearing that, the cyclops couldn't help but smirk; clearly the person in front of him wasn't the smartest, but that was fine. If he could learn the secret to his strength, his own would take a massive leap, and maybe he could finally attain that.

"Fine, I'll tell you, but if you don't keep your promise, I will barbecue you whole!" War exclaimed, a massive grin visible on his helmet.

"..."

The monster was gobsmacked; it had never been disrespected like this, but it had to endure for now because getting to know the way to become stronger in battle and seemingly endlessly regenerate was too juicy to pass up.

"You could call it an innate power of mine because I govern the domain of war, and I don't have a body inside this armor; the armor is me, so unless you fully destroy it in 1 attack, I can always regenerate."

"What? You're a piece of metal..."

The cyclops was shocked, as its mouth kept opening and closing repeatedly, trying to figure out a way to answer.

"Wait, you said innate power. Does that mean that no one else can learn it?"

"No, others can learn it. But it would take eons, because you need to become the embodiment of the aspect of war from the apocalypse, so if you enter a world where it hasn't materialized yet, you could try becoming it. But I'll need to warn you because it won't be easy," War casually explained.

"Do you have any tips for me? Because you clearly became it." the cyclops asked; he needed that power badly. He needed it so badly that he was even willing to actually let them go.

"Hehe, I'm sorry to say this, but I was born like this, so I sadly cannot help you. But what I do know is a former master of mine tried becoming an aspect of the apocalypse, and even after thousands of years trying to become it, he failed..."

While explaining that, War looked at the ceiling of the room and clasped his hands together almost as if he was praying.

"Hmm, thank you for the information, I guess, but sadly I cannot let you go." the cyclops said, a smirk on his face.

Now it was finally time to see these challengers despair, and then he could toy with their lives like he always does.

"I know; that much was obvious. Once we entered the dungeon boss's room, so of course we can't leave until either one of us perishes."

"???"

The cyclops was stunned after hearing what War had to say. If he knew, why was he still so relaxed? He couldn't understand it, but it didn't matter; the end result was already set in stone, and when they realized that, he could slowly toy with them then.

"Well, I will say it one last time: Cy, thank you for the information, but I think I'll try to take a shortcut by devouring you. And maybe that works."

After he said that, he flashed a massive grin, trying to intimidate the piece of scrap metal once more; he had to be scared now, right? Just thinking about getting devoured should terrify almost anyone, after all.
