Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Little Woman

After the city gala night, something in me shifted.

I couldn't explain it , I just knew I had to take my dreams more seriously.

POV: I hope I don't get burnt by my dreams.

Sometimes I get afraid that I dream too high.

Dreams like this can be adventurous and dangerous.

But even in the chase for a better future, my heart didn't forget the one it beats for.

I admired him from afar in billboards, on TV, during interviews.

His name found its way into my diary so many times, I could spell it backwards.

I dreamed of him, wrote about him, obsessed in silence.

Sometimes, my mother caught me whispering his name.

I'd laugh it off, but deep down, I meant every syllable.

Then came a day I thought was fate

Dawn Bill came to our school for a donation program.

And like always, he didn't just show up when he arrived.

The way he walked, the way he carried himself calculated, controlled, born to command.

He wasn't loud, but every eye found him.

He didn't try, but he owned the moment.

During the school auction, his voice filled the hall with ease and might.

His words weren't ordinary, they carried weight.

He didn't speak like a man. He spoke like a movement.

POV: He was a basket of knowledge and a trigger of temptation.

After the event ended, I should've walked away.

But I didn't. I watched him head to his car, his presence swallowing every space around him.

People whispered, others followed but me?

I acted.

I broke through the crowd, ignoring Mary's frantic arm and Ben's worried voice calling my name.

He was just at the door of his car when I spoke. Sir! He turned Calm, Curious, Confident.

I stepped close, adrenaline buzzing in my ears.

Thank you for today, I said. My voice almost cracked but not quite.

Then, without asking permission from my common sense or from fear,

I slipped a folded note and my phone number into his blazer pocket.

His brows lifted, not in anger, not in amusement. Just stillness then he entered his car and closed the door.

I wonder what went through his mind that very moment. I guess he was lost, shocked and speechless.

Ben was fuming. Luna! What the actual hell was that? Are you okay?!

I smirked. That's what makes you love me, right?

Mary looked like her soul had left her body.

Was it stupid? Probably.

Would I do it again? Absolutely.

Because I wasn't born to stay invisible.

I waited for days, weeks, Nothing.

POV: Who did I think I was? Cinderella?

The glass slipper didn't even fit my hustle.

I guess I was just a girl with big eyes and bigger delusions.

Ben and Mary taunted me hard, calling it an imagination straight from when pigs fly.

I hit myself hard each time I remembered how I'd boldly stepped into the lion's den.

What if I'd brought shame on my family? What if I became the punchline of a scandal?

One day, I got a message from an unknown number.

My heart jumped, but it turned out to be a random guy from one of my WhatsApp groups. I cursed out the hell out of him in my mind.

He found my number and wanted to check in. I was disappointed beyond words.

Then came the beginning of my final semester. I was sitting under a tree, reading, when my phone buzzed, Unknown number.

I picked my heart already playing drums.

And then I heard his voice.

Dawn Bill Calm, Cold, Deep voice.

I screamed. Right there, in public.

POV: I was so embarrassed by my lack of composure , but who cares?

I just hit the jackpot.

He waited, then said

Am I still on the line with the little woman?

I laughed nervously. Yes, you are.

I'm curious to know more about the woman who wowed me with just one bold move, he said.

Are you free to meet me tonight? 10 PM. Franklin Park.

I couldn't say anything. My mouth dried up. My tongue forgot English.

He hung up before I could reply.

POV: My God. What have I done?

Did I say yes?

I hope my silence counts as a yes. I was perplexed at the situation of if I said yes or no.

This was the beginning of our love story.

POV: My father once said,

Silence from a rich man is louder than a drum.

I should've listened.
