"Ave? Won't you even spare us a glance now?" One voice said.
Her head remained straightforward, her body poised to reflect just how above them she was now.
"She's so ungrateful. We used to feed her when she was nothing. And now she can't even acknowledge us."
"Maybe she has lost everything but her pride won't let her admit it."
"You might be right. Look, she came in a car that isn't very fancy. The billionaire must have realized she's not good enough for him and chased her away. That's what I truly think."
Aveline walked past the house she has lived in, without so much as a glance towards it.
Two houses after, she finally came to a stop.
"Aveline!"
That voice pierced through the shield she had surrounded herself with, and for the first time, she turned.
"Star," she whispered, as the teenager dashed forward, and hugged her.
"Oh my God, it's really you! Oh my God!" The teenager couldn't believe her eyes.
Everyone else that had come out to watch, squeezed their faces in envy.
