On a hot summer day in the streets of Shinjuku, Japan, a young and handsome man was walking back from his office job. The bags under his eyes were a clear sign of his sleep deprivation.
This man was Travis Wyatt, a 20-year-old office worker. Unlike many of his peers, who were investing in their futures or pursuing higher education, Travis had opted for a straightforward office job.
Although work wasn't exactly a challenge for him, he found enjoyment in it, particularly because of the many attractive colleagues. His reputation was well-known, having had affairs with several of them, including his boss's wife, showcasing his confidence and charisma.
Travis had moved from Britain to Japan due to his father's job transfer. The relocation had been relatively smooth, given his young age and lack of deep attachments to friends back home. Learning a new language posed no significant challenge for him either, thanks to his adaptable mind.
Despite achieving excellent grades throughout his schooling, Travis had no interest in further education. Instead, he was focused on earning money to indulge in his passion for anime. His spending habits included purchasing manga—though he often read them illegally—figurines, and various merchandise. His wardrobe was filled with hoodies adorned with anime characters, which he cherished deeply. From this, it was evident that Travis was a devoted weeb with no intention of changing his ways. He also was a big fan of the DC universe.
He had just finished all of Supermans comics and was ready to watch the new movie.
' Heard its peak, I somehow avoided major spoilers for this long. Today after I clock out I'll go see it' he thought.
When he reached the crosswalk, he crossed the street slowly with the other pedestrians, who seemed to be having a typical day. However, Travis noticed a young boy looking around anxiously. Due to his short stature, the boy couldn't see well in front of him.
'He'll be fine,' Travis thought dismissively as he continued across the road. The light turned red, signaling that no one could cross anymore.
The boy was still in the middle of the street, searching for his mother. Coincidentally, a truck was barreling toward him, the driver having passed out from too much drinking and leaving his foot on the gas pedal. Travis heard a woman's scream.
"Hayato!!!"
He looked back and saw the same boy, frozen in fear in the middle of the street. Without hesitation, Travis sprinted toward the child and pushed him out of the way. In an instant, his world seemed to shift into slow motion as he faced the oncoming truck hurtling toward him.
' Damn, talk about a jinx'
*Bang*
.....
In the bustling city of Musutafu, Japan—a world where heroes and villains clash almost every single day—the extraordinary has become ordinary. But it wasn't always like this.
It all began in China, when news broke of a miraculous birth: a baby glowing with bioluminescence. That single event marked the dawn of a new era. Soon after, people all over the world began developing strange and powerful abilities—gifts that would later be known as Quirks.
Many years have passed since that first Quirk appeared. Now, nearly 80% of the global population possesses some form of superpower. In response to this dramatic shift, a new profession was born—Heroes. Trained, licensed, and adored by society, these individuals now stand as protectors of peace.
On a quiet afternoon at a local kindergarten playground, a young boy with unruly green curls sat alone on a swing, his gaze distant as he stared up at the sky. The gentle creak of the swing chains echoed softly around him. Then, all at once, his vacant eyes sharpened.
"Huh? Where... am I?" he muttered, blinking rapidly as he looked around in confusion. The sound of his own voice startled him, and instinctively, he grabbed his throat.
He raised his small hands—and froze.
"What the...?"
His hands were tiny. Childlike. His body—smaller than it should've been. Panic started to bubble up.
' Am I a kid again? No, wait... I wasn't pale... ' he thought, stumbling off the swing and rushing toward the nearest reflective surface: the silver slide.
The moment he saw his reflection, his legs gave out.
'Why the hell did I become Deku, of all people? ' he thought bitterly, collapsing to his knees.
That's right. Our main character, Travis, was no longer himself. Somehow, he had woken up in the body of Izuku Midoriya—the main protagonist of My Hero Academia, one of the most iconic anime of the new generation.
' I thought I'd end up as Superman or something, since that's the last thing I watched. Guess that's not how this works... ' he thought with a sigh, steadying himself as he stood up.
All around him, other kids played without a care in the world. Ignoring them, Travis scanned the playground and made his way toward the school building, searching for a bathroom. Just as he reached the door, a young teacher approached him with a gentle smile.
"Need some help, Izuku?" she asked, bending slightly to his level, hands on her knees.
"Oh no, I'll be fine," he replied politely. "Thank you."
She smiled warmly as he walked past.
He seems more confident than usual, she thought, watching him disappear inside.
Travis locked the bathroom door behind him and stared into the mirror. For a brief moment, he wanted to cry—but he held it in.
' I just need to get One For All, and I'll be solid. Unfortunately, I won't get that until I'm fourteen. Bloody hell... and I also have to deal with that blonde monkey, Bakugo, ' he thought with a heavy sigh.
Then, without warning, a bright red and blue screen appeared before his eyes.
His heart leapt with excitement.
