My heart raced as different thoughts flooded across my mind. I was quite moody but I was mostly upset and concerned about two issues. First, I was upset that Hayley had gotten to know my place. I didn't anticipate her to follow me by taking a cab as well. She might come here frequently to see Derek, and she's one person I've been trying to avoid. The fact that she is madly in love with my partner is what makes me so upset. I'm sure she wants to do everything she can to attract his attention. Knowing where we live was one of her plans which she achieved and now, who knows what other plans she has?
Secondly, I'm pissed off because Mr Plummer made a decision to see one of Derek's parents. This is just the third day my parents are on their honeymoon and we can't disrupt their activities. I can't even let them see Mr Plummer on Derek's behalf. He will know that we're related and obviously, the news would spread across the whole school.
After Hayley left, I went into the room with Derek to have a word with him. First, I dropped my bag carelessly on the bed, my eyes darting around to see if my aunt was around.
"Where is she? I see no signs of her,"I mumbled before shifting my gaze back at Derek.
"She went out a few minutes before you arrived. She decided to get some groceries at a mall." Derek replied before dunking on the sofa and reaching for the remote which laid carelessly on the table.
I sat beside him and heaved a deep sigh.
Seeing his hand beside me, I clutched it and fondled it softly.
He stared at me and smiled cutely but there wasn't a single smile on my face.
"Derek.. What did Mr Plummer say to you? Why did he request to see any of your parents? Is he aware that we're related? I'm so nervous and curios as well,"
I asked, biting my lips as I stared at him with a sad expression on my face.
Derek leaned forward and cupped my cheeks, his lips curving into a smile.
"Before I got admitted here on scholarship.
I was given a form to fill back then at Newton's ville pack.."
"Wait! What?! You're on scholarship?!" I asked with raised brows, cutting Derek off across his words and he nodded.
"What type of scholarship? Full or partial?" I asked since I was never aware about it
"I'm on full scholarship, Isabel. My dad decided to get married to your mom and we had to relocate down to Riverdale here so I could attend Riverdale academy since I was among the shortlisted and qualified candidates for the scholarship. If I didn't get the scholarship offer, you and your mom would probably have had to join us in Newtonville pack,"
Derek disclosed and I blinked severally like a doll, my lips dropping along.
"You're amazing, Derek. How come I never knew about this? I'm also on scholarship as well but .. partial..".
"That's amazing, babe." Derek praised me and my eyes lit up immediately. Hearing the word 'babe' from his mouth made me wet.. oh! Naughty me..
"I was at Newtonville Pack when I applied for the Riverdale Academy scholarship. I hadn't expected to be among the qualified candidates, but I'm delighted I was. When I filled out a form about my personal profile and that of my parents, I only included my father's details because he was still single at the time. So, I presume Mr Plummer assumes my father is still single. He is not aware that he is married to your mother. He has no idea we're step-siblings.
Derek explained, and I rounded my mouth, nodding repeatedly. Such a relief!
Derek and I are both on scholarships, isn't that amazing? We're not just attractive; we're also smart.
Now I see why Mason and Matilda and some others are always mean towards me and some other students of low ranks. They're also hateful towards students on scholarship because they believe their parents are the ones sponsoring us. They label us as omegas and people of no class. I see why the school rules only favors the rich.
"I understand why we are not granted the right to fight for ourselves whenever our rights are violated. The school is excellent, with all of the necessary amenities, however it falls short in terms of equality. Mason should have been penalized for all of his wrongdoings, but I have never seen this happen before. It's because his parents are rich and are sponsors of the school…"
Caressing Derek's cheek, I revealed, my eyes searching his face. He held my hands which were on his cheek and through gritted teeth, he replied, "I don't give a damn if Mason's parents are rich! I will teach him his place if he messes with you.."
"If you keep fighting him, Derek, you'll continue to end up in trouble.."
"And what do you expect me to do , urh?!" Derek bawled and my brows raised slightly in shock. I've never seen him get this angry before.
"Do you expect me to watch him harass you? Do you expect me to watch when he claims my own mate as his and uses her as his plaything or sex toy?!"
"Derek. I'm only concerned about you. Mason's parents are cruel.."
"Isabel. I do not care about anyone! If I have a bad reputation in this institution for attempting to protect you, it's worth it. If I end up on any parent's bad list because I'm defending you by teaching their foolish kids some lessons, it'll be worth it. I will fight for you till my last breath, Isabel. You are my mate, and I will not let anything bad happen to you. We might not be as wealthy as they are. We may face difficulties, but we will not allow them to treat us poorly. Mark my words, Isabel. These same folks will come to apologize for mistreating us."
Derek soothed, his voice laced with conviction. He went ahead to kiss me on the forehead before robbing my cheeks with the pad of his thumb.
"Derek," I called and he responded by raising his brows.
"Enzo seems to hate you. I could see it in his eyes. He was keen on beating you up. I'm scared, Derek. I don't want to see you get hurt because of me. Enzo is the Alpha's son. He is one spoiled pampered maniac who can stoop so low to get whatever he wants. I'm scared he might be planning some schemes on how to get revenge on you."
Derek smiled briefly after hearing my words. He's not as bothered and worried as I am.
"Enzo is the least of my concerns, mate." That moron is just jealous of me. He has no shame. I do not care whether he is the Alpha's son. I'm prepared to confront him if he mistreats you or me." Derek stated confidently, his gaze sweeping my features.
Pressing my lips together, I thought back to what Mason said. I still can't believe that he plans to force himself on me. The audacity for him to reveal it with so much confidence is what amazes me.
"Those guys are very dangerous. I'll make sure I inform Mr Plummer about Mason's intention to force himself on me. I'll inform him so he can be aware of it." I cussed, clenching my fists.
"You don't have to do that.."
"No. I have to do it, Derek. That guy is a beast. He has to be tamed and kept under control. Mr Plummer has to speak some senses into his thick skull. I'm sure he has slept with most of the girls in the class. And even Enzo's stupid girlfriend as well. I overheard her speaking to someone about Mason's dick size."
