The red SUV roared down the highway, heading from the small town towards Metropolis.
In the driver's seat, Clark, wearing sunglasses, had one hand lightly on the steering wheel and the other resting on the car window. He spread his fingers, feeling the cold wind rushing through them – a feeling of freedom.
Kansas wasn't a place for slackers; Clark aimed to make a name for himself.
"Finally getting away from them," he muttered.
Clark steered through a curve, the car drifting at 90 miles per hour. The headlights reflected, the high beams illuminating the road ahead.
On either side of the road were enormous trees with strange, gnarled shapes. Occasionally, the howls of wolves echoed from the forest.
But none of this bothered Clark. He was just driving, intending to put on some music to pass the long, boring night.
But, in his peripheral vision, something seemed to be out there, visible through the window.
"Hmm?"
Clark's cheap gaze shifted, his eyes sweeping past the car window, focusing on the front.
Illuminated by the car's headlights, a gigantic figure stood silently in the middle of the road.
Clark narrowed his eyes slightly.
The image in his vision gradually became clearer.
The dark figure blocking the way wasn't some kind of beast, but a giant metal suit of armor with a strange design, entirely constructed in a black style.
That armor had rigid barbs erected on both elbow joints.
Clark instinctively wanted to hit the brakes, but the Red Gem on his middle finger emitted a faint red glow.
"Buzz~" Clark's eyes flashed red as well.
The original kindness vanished, replaced by a surge of brutality from the depths of his heart!
A morbid smile spread across Clark's face as he sneered and stomped on the accelerator: "What is this thing, daring to stop me?"
The engine, under the control of the accelerator, unleashed its full power. The exhaust pipe spewed flames, and the entire car shot forward like a streak of light, crashing towards the direction of the shadow.
A thousand meters vanished in an instant.
A hundred meters.
A few meters.
Until the moment of impact, neither side showed any intention of dodging.
Until
Boom!
The Promethium Batsuit, mixed with Mithril, collided head-on with an off-road vehicle traveling at 90 miles per hour.
The metal warped, the water tank shattered, spraying water, and then the engine exploded.
BOOM!
A deafening explosion erupted, like the first muffled thunderclap cast by a god in a desolate cosmos.
At this moment, no one knew what was happening on this deserted highway.
But,
a violent explosion echoed in the night, followed by scorching flames. Metal parts of the off-road vehicle scattered, and the Batsuit heated up, turning red under the flames.
Clark slammed into the Batsuit like a cannonball.
THUD!
The Man of Steel collided with a Batsuit worth hundreds of millions of dollars.
The massive impact sent them flying, like billiard balls slamming together and then separating.
They were sent hurtling in opposite directions, shattering the road as they went. Their bodies and the Batsuit carved out a concrete trench hundreds of meters long.
The earth groaned and fractured.
They crashed off the road and into a field, sending dirt and grass flying.
The immense kinetic energy finally stopped them after they'd smashed through several trees.
The dust that filled the air tasted like clay and was utterly disgusting.
"Cough, cough."
In the smoke, Clark staggered to his feet, his clothes torn and his face covered in mud and paint.
He'd never been so flustered, and his heart was filled with rage.
His emerald eyes flickered with a terrifying gleam.
"Whoosh."
Clark's eyes lit up with a crimson glow, his gaze fixed on the massive Batsuit in the smoke.
Under the dark night sky, the Batsuit looked like a giant tin can standing in the ruins.
"Die!"
Clark's eyes blazed with red light, and his scorching Heat Vision shot towards the suit like two bolts of lightning.
"Whoosh." The machine roared, and a pale blue light flashed from the back of the Batsuit. Several technological boosters kicked into high gear, propelling the heavy suit forward.
The red beams, capable of melting steel, sliced through everything like a pair of blades. The air burned, and the moisture in the soil evaporated, turning into charred dust.
The charred remains of plants scattered in the wind.
Batman, inside his Batsuit, had no doubt that if he were hit by that lethal beam, even the sturdy Promethium armor wouldn't save him.
"Must end this quickly."
A resolute glint flashed in Batman's eyes. The next moment, he maneuvered the Batsuit and lunged towards Clark.
"Batsuit, activate ejection sequence, timed for three seconds."
One second, the Batsuit turned, charging directly at Clark.
Clark was somewhat surprised that the bulky "tin can" had given up dodging and chosen to face him head-on.
Two seconds, the Batsuit recklessly closed the distance to Clark.
But, this suited Clark better.
He raised his head, aiming at the Batsuit.
"Bzzzt!"
Deadly beams shot from his eyes, instantly piercing the metal armor. The Batsuit exploded, sending shards of metal flying.
Three seconds...
"It's over," Clark said coolly, striking a pose. But then, a figure leaped out from the dust.
"Boom!"
Batman, his arm clad in metal, swung a fist that slammed into Clark's face. The immense force shattered his sunglasses.
"Plop~"
Clark hadn't expected Batman to survive his Heat Vision.
But there was no use regretting it now. Batman controlled the Batsuit to spray a blinding chemical agent, which was the hallucinogen he'd concocted from the spring water in the underground maze.
"Pfft~"
The agent splashed into his eyes, and Clark clutched his eyes in agony, wailing, "My eyes!"
His vision blurred, and Batman's iron fists relentlessly "greeted" his face.
"Bang bang bang!"
Batman straddled Clark, expressionless, swinging his iron fists, battering Clark's cheeks left and right.
He had already investigated in secret. Clark's parents were both simple, kind farmers, but they had raised a ingrate like Clark.
This made Batman eliminate the idea of guiding this person onto the right path.
He now only wanted to extract information from Clark's mouth, to find out the truth.
"Whoosh."
The sound of air ripping through the sky howled in his ears.
A powerful punch landed on his cheek, producing a dull thud. Batman, while punching, hoarsely roared, "Tell me, what's your relationship with the Riddler?"
Tears streaming down his eyes, a bewildered Clark frantically waved his hands, trying to lift Batman up. He also roared, "What Riddler? I don't know!"
"All I know is that I want to kill you!"
Batman ignored Clark's shouts. He threw another punch, the device on his gauntlet releasing more gas to distract Clark and make him struggle.
The bright moonlight shone on the scorched grass. In the center of the clearing, Batman gasped, shouting,
"Just excuses, lies!"
Batman threw punches, battering Clark with the ferocity of a street brawler.
He desperately wanted to know the truth.
Was there something more to his parents' deaths?
The night wind carried the smell of burning grass. Just as Batman prepared to administer some Truth Serum to Clark,
A cold voice, one that made Bruce's skin crawl, whispered, "Are you looking for me?"
