Chapter 134 - Clark's Wolfdog Theory

Kent Farm.

Jonathan and Martha, looking exhausted, walked into the house.

However, before they even reached the living room, they heard a commotion coming from upstairs.

"Someone's up there?"

Jonathan tensed up and picked up a wooden stick from the corner.

Martha looked at Jonathan with worry, "Could it be Clark has returned?"

They looked at each other, but soon, their doubts were answered.

Clark, wearing sunglasses, walked down the stairs, carrying a canvas bag.

Martha, looking at Clark, whose style was drastically different from his youthful appearance, opened her mouth in surprise: "Clark, why are you dressed like this?"

The woman walked forward and pinched Clark's trench coat, exclaiming, "This is actually made of silk!?"

"Clark." Unlike the surprised Martha, Jonathan had a stern expression on his face: "Where did you get these things?"

From the material alone, the expensive sunglasses and the expensive trench coat conveyed a message to Jonathan and Martha: Clark had acquired a large sum of wealth.

"Earned it through my own efforts."

Clark lowered his head slightly, the sunglasses falling off to reveal his indifferent eyes. He stared at Jonathan mockingly, "What? Are you going to try to instill those stupid ideas in me again?"

"You!" Jonathan was choked by Clark's query. He couldn't imagine that his usually well-behaved and lovely son would say such things to him.

Martha stared at the backpack behind Clark, asking nervously, "Clark, what are you doing with that bag?"

"What am I doing?"

Clark pouted, rolling his eyes, "Leaving this godforsaken place, of course."

"Think about it, a place where you can only earn a few hundred dollars a week. It's not worth it for a talent like me to stay here."

"Gino said that wolves and dogs are different."

Clark chuckled softly, staring at Jonathan, the powerful aura pressing down on his adoptive father: "Wolves want to eat meat, but you want me to pretend to be a dog and gnaw on bones."

"Clark." Jonathan frowned. He looked into Clark's eyes and felt fear for the first time.

But his concern for Clark still overcame that fear, and he pursed his lips, saying, "I really wish you could hear what you're saying."

"You're clearly not yourself right now."

"And, that Gino isn't like you at all, he isn't good…"

"Stop with your stubborn prejudice, Jonathan." Clark interrupted Jonathan impatiently, sneering, "Do you know why you're still stuck farming, a poor man, while Gino and the Luthor Family are wealthy?"

"Because you're not ruthless enough, you have this so-called justice, integrity, and honesty in your heart."

"Ruthlessness, survival of the fittest, that's the secret and the truth to getting rich."

"But you cling to your so-called kindness,"

"The result is..."

"Who suffers if not you?"

Clark strode forward, shouldering past Jonathan and delivering the hurtful words: "So, don't try to force your values on me, we're not the same!"

Bang!

Watching Clark shatter the door and leap out the window, Jonathan roared in anger, "Clark, get back here!"

But the only response was a black blur speeding away from the farm.

Luthor Manor's hall.

Lionel had gone to inspect the company, leaving only Gino at the manor.

On a warm, comfortable sofa, Clark sat with his legs crossed.

Gino leaned back on the opposite sofa like a gentleman, staring at the arrogant Clark.

"So, you're planning to leave Smallville?"

Clark grinned, "That's right. I plan to go to Metropolis and make a name for myself there."

"People like us are born to stand at the top of the world!"

"That's a good idea." Gino tossed out a business card from his pocket, "This is the card of a football team manager in Metropolis. You can go see him if you decide to go."

He was quite curious. If Clark were allowed to develop like this, would a Homelander Clark or an Injustice Superman Clark appear?

As he was pondering this, a noisy sound reached his ears.

Without even looking up, Gino heard Lex talking to another person.

"How surprising, Mr. Bruce, that a billionaire like you would come to this remote town."

"I am indeed curious about what attracts the Luthor Family to invest heavily in this town. Perhaps we can cooperate on development," Bruce replied.

Right now.

Lex, wearing a fake smile, walked into the hall alongside Bruce.

Both men had their own agendas. Lex wanted to probe into Bruce's intentions.

Bruce, on the other hand, wanted to understand why the Luthor Family had taken root in the town.

As the two entered the hall, Clark instinctively looked up.

Four pairs of eyes met.

The atmosphere was a mix of silence and awkwardness.

Bruce stared at Clark, who was sitting on the sofa. Just one glance, and he recognized the man as the target of his trip.

"Mr. Bruce."

Gino slowly stood up, the young man breaking the silence with a smile, a playful glint in his eyes. "We meet again."

"Mr. Gino."

Bruce smiled and extended his hand.

The two shook hands and then released.

"I heard you're planning on investing here?" Gino looked at Bruce.

"Indeed. This local town seems very suitable for developing crops. I plan to turn it into a major food production base, and then transport the goods to Gotham City."

Perfect logic and a well-thought-out plan, enough to conceal the true purpose of his visit.

"I guess I should go."

Clark shrugged and stood up. To be honest, it was a little awkward for Clark to be standing in front of the person he'd just robbed.

Clark walked away. Bruce casually asked, "Who was that kid?"

Lex glanced at Bruce, "Clark, my brother's classmate."

"I heard he's planning to move to Metropolis soon," Gino revealed Clark's plans "casually."

After chatting with Lex and Gino for a while about local town businesses, Bruce took his leave from the manor.

The last rays of the setting sun hung in the sky.

Sitting in his own RV, Bruce pondered for a moment before getting up and heading to the back of the vehicle.

Opening the car door, a heavy armored suit of some kind sat silently in the corner. Bruce removed his suit, revealing the chest armor emblazoned with the black bat symbol.

He planned to speak with Clark's parents first. After all, to understand a person, one must start with those closest to him. This would allow Batman to gain a comprehensive understanding of Clark Kent, the young man.

Before coming to Smallville, Bruce had used his "cash" ability to gather a great deal of information.

He knew about the strange deaths that had occurred in the town, and the presence of the Luthor Family.

Everything seemed like a web of mist, laid out before him, making Batman want to explore further.

Watching the sunset outside the window, as night enveloped the town, Bruce put on his mask and transformed into Batman. He began his mission for the night, accompanied by the moon and the night wind.
