Chapter 110 - Creating an Example

The impact was felt inside the palace where Cate was thrown off her throne. She used magic to gently float back to the floor. Her face was covered with fury. On the screen, she saw the werewolves who were tearing at the barriers that protected the palace. Werewolves had the ability to somewhat negate magic power and they were currently using this ability to try and get into the palace.

Aurellia created an illusion and merged into the world, disappearing completely. Cate was sure that Aurellia would stay hidden until reinforcements arrived. Using teleportation circles, this would only be a few minutes. Once the divine temple joined forces with the werewolves, the palace was sure to be breached.

"Fire," Cate ordered once more. The wandering palace obeyed and all nine cannons fired at once. Five aimed at the remaining wolves and the other three fired at places where Aurellia could be hiding. "Since it has come to this, let's fight to the bitter end," Cate said.

The servants all bowed deeply before they left the hall using their magics. The first to arrive on the battlefield was Ion. He had already transformed into a dark figure, ready to kill anything in his path. He slammed into one of the werewolves with such force that the large creature was sent flying through the air. The werewolf and Ion began exchanging blows. The other servants also joined the fray and soon, the werewolves were fully occupied and the assault on the palace stopped.

Cate used the palace to search the surroundings and after a minute, she managed to see through the illusion that was hiding Aurellia. Cate left the palace and appeared on the battlefield.

"She can't see me. There is no reason to worry," thought Aurellia. She was wrong. Cate walked calmly while watching the battles that were taking place. She slowly approached her target and when they were just a few steps away from each other, Cate moved her hand with such speed that Aurellia did not have any chance to respond before Cate's hand went through her stomach. The illusion shattered and Aurellia appeared in the real world.

Cate looked into the woman's eyes. "I do not understand what gave you the courage to attack me but this will be the last thing you will ever do."

Aurellia was not willing to die having achieved nothing. She channeled all her sacrifice power into her votum that was merged with the Divine Treasure. She then thrust the sword into Cate, using every ounce of strength she had left. All this happened in a fraction of a second. The sword went through Cate's heart and came out through her back. The sword was covered in blood. Cate looked down at her chest while Aurellia laughed as though she had hit the jackpot.

"I may be dying but you will come with me," Aurellia said.

Cate shook her head at the foolishness on display. "Since the temple decided to take action, you must have come to learn that I am not just Catherine Danescu but also Medusa. Since I am who you think I am, do you actually believe that something like a sword through my heart can ever be enough to end my life?" Cate asked the woman while using a warm voice that showed no rage but pity for Aurellia.

Cate calmly grabbed the hand that had pushed the sword through her. She squeezed so hard that Aurellia's bones cracked loud enough to be heard by those on the battlefield. Cate then pulled out the sword without any hurry in her actions. By the time the sword came out, Cate's skin had already closed and she was back to perfect health.

"If you want to kill me, you have to do better than that. Unfortunately for you, it is too late." Cate punched the woman in the face and this was enough to shatter her brain completely. Only her lifeless torso was left. Cate threw it to the side, taking away the divine treasure. Just like that, all the sacrifice warriors were dead.

Cate moved toward her next target. By now, she could leave this place by getting the wandering palace to move through space but she chose to make an example of her attackers. She had no idea as to why the werewolves had become involved in this matter and for now, she did not care.

Cate pointed at one of the remaining werewolves and all her servants left it alone. The wandering palace gathered magic from the world and fired instantly. All nine cannons were focused on this one werewolf. Even with its immunity towards magic, the werewolf stood no chance. It was turned to ash instantly. The only thing left of the mighty beast was a large crater.

"I do not care whether you fight on the side of righteousness or what you seek is evil. All that matters is that you are stupid enough to attack me. Death is the only thing I can offer you in return."

The cannons focused on another werewolf. Only three of them were left after three were killed by the cannons and one by Ion. These three realized that things had not gone as they had planned. Even with their power, there was no victory in their future. Still, these were werewolves. Cowardice was not part of their natures. Their rage and viciousness increased as all three ran like the wind to finish off Cate before the palace could release another beam of magic.

Cate did not run away and simply stayed in place with her hand pointed to one of the werewolves. One of the beasts reached her first and moved to bite off her head. Cate turned into blue flames and teleported away, reappearing a few hundred feet away from her attackers.

BOOOOOM.

The wandering palace fired its cannons, the force shaking the earth. Just like that, another werewolf was wiped out.

"Ion," Cate called out. Ion who was standing to the side with the other servants bowed at his name being called. "Take care of that one," Cate ordered while pointing at one of the two werewolves.

Ion led all the servants to fight against this one beast. The werewolf that was ignored moved to join in on the fight.

"You are mine," Cate said as she turned into blue flames, reappearing right above the beast. She fell down with a punch that decimated the land and left her in a deadly battle against the beast.

Cate could have continued using the power of the wandering palace to deal with her problems but she felt that she needed to show the world a little of her power. This was to prevent nuisance attacks from weaklings. Even though the divine tower was one of the most powerful factions in the world, Cate felt that they took her too lightly, still thinking of her as the helpless relic they owned so long ago. They forgot that they came across her severed head by accident and never actually defeated her.

The only thing that the temple could bring out to make Cate shake in her boots was the Key of Future that they owned. If they had come with this powerful treasure, Cate would have been left with few options but to flee as fast as possible. Instead, they sent over a few sacrifice warriors with a single divine treasure. The fact that Aurellia was even using a treasure forged by a god angered Cate even more.
