Chapter 48 - Chapter 45: The Mirror Does Not Lie

It started with Dean Thomas.

Brave. Loyal. Gryffindor-born.

But House banners meant nothing now.He stood among the faction of Sacrifice, hoping his choice would matter.

He stepped up to the Mirror of Oath, alone.

The others warned him:

"Only look.Don't touch."

But Dean was never good at only watching.

He leaned in.

And the mirror melted around him.

Inside the Mirror

He stood in a hallway made of glass. Each step echoed in time, in memory — showing versions of himself that never were:

Dean who never came to Hogwarts.

Dean who fought for Voldemort.

Dean who died in the Third War.

And one more:

Dean in violet robes, holding a serpent's staff, whispering spells in a tongue the real him didn't know.

The mirror whispered:

"The oath is not forged in truth. It is forged in possibility."

"Choose."

He Returns

Dean collapsed forward out of the mirror, gasping.

But he wasn't the same.

His eyes glowed briefly violet, like Rowan's did in the Heartstone chamber.

And when he spoke, it wasn't quite his voice.

"The mirror doesn't lie.

But it **offers paths that might want to.""

The seal on his wrist was no longer red — but pulsing violet-black.

The mark of Bloodline.

Dean Thomas had been rewritten.

The Teachers Panic

Snape arrived first.

He grabbed Dean by the collar, staring at the pulsing sigil.

"This isn't Blaise's.And it sure as hell isn't Harry's."

McGonagall whispered:

"Then who is it?"

A student behind them answered.

Rowan.

"It's Selene's line."

Snape turned, eyes narrowing.

"You. You should not exist."

Rowan didn't blink.

"Neither should this war. But here we are."

Final Scene – A Choice for All

The mirror remained.

Open.

Pulsing.

And by nightfall, two dozen more students had stepped through.

Not all returned.

Some did — changed.

Some never stepped out at all.

And above the mirror, new words etched themselves by unseen hand:

"Let them walk.Let them choose.Let the unworthy fade."
