When they arrived at Caelum's office, it was just the two of them again as before. This time before the man could speak, Selene had spoken first while sitting on a chair in the room.
"They're really annoying. I haven't even had time to eat my favorite food yet but they've already thrown it away. It's ridiculous," she complained.
"Who gave you permission to sit down?" asked Caelum as he stood in front of her.
"Come on, my body feels weak after beating them up. I just finished eating some mashed potatoes," she replied.
He paused at her excuse. He didn't scold her, or force her to stand up. But he just stared at her without anyone being able to read what he was thinking.
"Your moves look really cool! You have good reflexes, your movements are also fast and powerful enough to take out that damn Dargon with one hit," she said, complimenting him this time.
"Those are just basic military moves that have been taught for a long time," he replied.
"With moves that fast, why don't you think about joining the ISI? I heard the job is harder but it's quite fun because you get to travel the world."
The ISI Selene was referring to was the International Security Intelligence or ISI for short. It was a group of Zondalian agents, whose members usually handled cases with a high degree of danger.
They usually catch international criminals, both high-profile and low-profile. This includes dealing with terrorists, people who have disappeared unnaturally and others.
The level of the mission depends on the rank of each member, ranging from A, B, C and S.
Caelum was silent for a moment when he heard Selene's question. What she said was true. He was very suitable to join the ISI unit, especially since he had received an invitation to become one of the members. Because not everyone could enter without a complete military or police reputation.
"It doesn't take two people in the same family to join the group," he replied briefly.
"So one of your family members is already part of the group? Very cool, it's a very elite group."
His eyes flinched as soon as he heard her praise. It was like he was not very happy to talk about his family nor to hear compliments for others.
"But I don't think working as Chief Warden is such a bad thing. You can still serve your country, be proud that this prison is an internationally accepted prison. Moreover, you don't have to risk your life like the ISI members."
Selene said this deliberately because she could see how Caelum's eyes changed when she praised the group of ISI units.
'Maybe his younger sibling or older sibling joined ISI and that made him unable to join too? Or is it some other factor,' she thought at the time.
"I didn't call you here to talk about my family. But about the trouble you caused again today," he said firmly trying to change the subject between them.
"Didn't you clearly say before, it's not my fault but theirs. They started it first and I'm just finishing what they started. It's simple," she replied.
Caelum, however, was not happy with Selene's answer. She could have reported Dargon and his men to the prison guards around them, without having to beat up all six of Dargon's men.
Selene laughed because she thought Caelum was joking with her.
"You must be joking. You want me to ask the prison guards to stop Dargon and his stupid men? I'm sure you realize that your men are terrified of him," Selene said as she tried to stop laughing but her voice was shaking.
Caelum did realize that some of the prison guards were afraid of Dargon, who was both cruel and very large.
That's why he often heard about the disturbances Dargon caused in the prison. In addition, the other prisoners did not dare to approach him.
Therefore, he was not surprised when Dargon was called the strongest gangster in Redboiler Prison. But of course, no one was strong enough to fight Caelum alone.
"I know that. It's really frustrating to know that those who are supposed to keep the prisoners in order are afraid of the prisoners themselves," he replied.
"You should make an evaluation of the prison guards working under you. Do physical as well as mental training. If you find them incompetent, you can ask the state to replace them, right?"
He sighed, saying that the Zondalian government was too focused on improving their advanced technology rather than the security of a prison with so many dangerous criminals.
Even though they had no economic constraints in the prison, and the Zondalian government was constantly monitoring what was happening. It still wasn't enough to make the guards work better.
"As I once said. If you've tried to ask others for help but they don't really care what you ask, then do it your way," Selene said as she crossed her legs and leaned back against the sofa.
"It's easy to say, but with the large number of prison guards it will be difficult to organize them. Moreover, they also have to keep the prisoners in order," Caelum said.
"Then just enjoy what happens in your prison. If it continues like this." She shrugged her shoulders. "I'm sure as time goes on the other prisoners will be emboldened to fight back by following in Dargon's footsteps. There will be other Dargon popping up."
Selene's words were enough to make Caelum realize that this could happen.
If more and more prison guards were afraid of Dargon, perhaps they could join forces with him so that the guards would not dare to touch them or other Dargons would emerge to cause a ruckus in the prison and the security system would fall apart.
'She thought that far ahead. Truly a visionary, hmn?' he thought as he became interested in Selene's ramblings that he thought made sense.
During his time in the prison, Caelum rarely chatted with anyone else, including his assistant. And when he did need advice, the advice they gave him sometimes fell short of his expectations and thoughts.
As he was talking, his eyes fell on Selene's knuckle. Coupled with the bruises on her face, which she had already noticed.
He then took off the black gloves that had always covered his hands, and held them out in front of her.
"Give me your hand," he said.
"What for?"
"Just give me your hand, it's an order." he said more firmly this time, and Selene immediately gave him her hand.
He noticed the blisters and redness on the back of Selene's hand.
With his thumb, he gently rubbed the back of the hand and looked at the wound more closely.
It was obvious that Selene had fought Dargon's men with all her might to the point of injuring her own hand.
"You not only hurt them, but hurt yourself."
Abruptly, he pulled Selene's hand to herhis mouth and his left hand was behind his back. He gently kissed the wound briefly.
"But somehow I feel amazed by the mess you made, Miss Chaos."
