I bit my lip harder, forcing back the sting in my eyes. Carefully, I closed all the apps and marked the conversations as unread so he would not notice. Then I handed his phone back without even sending a message to my mother. My appetite disappeared completely.

"I deleted it," I muttered before standing up.
He rose too, his jaw tightening. "Let's go." He placed three thousand dollars on the table, not even waiting for the actual bill. That was more than enough since our food would not even reach two thousand.
