Not pain. Not sound. Just white. Always white.
Velen opened his eyes.
The white room greeted him again. Circular. Endless. At its center floated the Core, pulsing gently with silver-blue light, veins of crystal webbing through its form like nerves.
He stood slowly, body back to normal again. The wound from Kaelen was gone. So were his Wills. So were the people.
He didn't remember how many times this had happened. A part of him wanted to. A part of him refused.
He stepped forward and pressed his palm to the Core.
It responded instantly.

He closed the window and took the dagger. It was light. Too light.
A door opened in the wall across from him. Beyond it: darkness, again.
He didn't look back.
