Tristan's eyes lingered on me for a moment too long. "Perhaps I do have a crush," he finally admitted. "Is that so surprising?"

I felt my cheeks heat up. "I don't even know you."

"We could change that," he said with a charming smile. "Starting with coffee."

Chloe nudged me with her elbow. "The nominees need to take their places on stage," she whispered, nodding toward the dean who was gesturing for us to come forward.

Grateful for the interruption, I stood quickly. "Excuse me."

As I walked away, Tristan called after me, "Think about my offer, Seraphina. It still stands regardless of today's outcome."

Chloe followed me to the side of the stage where the other scholarship candidates were gathering. "What was that about?" she whispered.

"I have no idea," I mumbled. "Why would Adrian Valois's nephew offer to pay my tuition?"

She wiggled her eyebrows. "Because he's obviously into you. And he's hot. And rich."
