Chapter 5 - Disobedient to Grandpa

Nevaeh didn't pay much attention to Cassius's attitude.

To both of them, they were strangers.

She imagined what it would be like if she were the one lying in bed, waking up to suddenly find out she was married.

It would be hard to accept.

With her head down, she sat on the sofa, thinking about the return visit in three days.

Hussein noticed her expression and, assuming she was upset, quickly reassured her, "Don't worry, ma'am. The young master isn't a bad person; he just has a cold temperament. It's not really his fault… In time, you'll understand."

Nevaeh wasn't worried at all.

She didn't care what kind of person Cassius Bennett was; her only concern was her grandmother's situation.

Understanding that Hussein meant well, she nodded, "I know. I won't mind."

Hussein felt relieved and continued, "The old master really likes you. If it weren't for you, the young master wouldn't have woken up. You're a benefactor to the Bennett family, ma'am. We will all support you. I believe the young master will soon see your worth and truly accept you."

Nevaeh smiled faintly, not bothering to argue.

She had saved Cassius Bennett, but she didn't want any recognition for it, nor did she wish to be seen as a benefactor.

She did it simply out of her instinct as a healer.

In Cassius's room, the old man's expression turned cold.

"What did you just say?" The old man was furious.

"You can't forget your gratitude. Nevaeh saved you, and you two are already married. She is your wife."

"If superstition could save people, why would we need doctors?" Cassius Bennett insisted firmly. "I'm determined to get a divorce!"

"You dare!" The old man was seething with anger. "Unless I'm dead, you will not get a divorce."

"Grandpa, I've listened to you my whole life, but I can't on this matter." Cassius's voice was clear, yet it carried an undeniable decisiveness.

"Are you trying to give me a heart attack?" The old man was infuriated.

Although Cassius had always been stubborn, he had never openly defied him like this before. This level of insistence was a first.

The old man knew exactly what the issue was.

"Are you still thinking about that girl named Naya? You wasted three years searching for her. The Bennett family will never accept her, so just give up on that idea."

"Grandpa, my Mrs. Bennett can only be her. If it's not her, I'd rather not marry at all!" Cassius raised his voice sharply, leaving no room for argument.

"You!" The old man stormed out in anger.

As he reached the door, he encountered Nevaeh, and his expression softened slightly.

"Nevaeh, go on in. No matter what that brat says, don't take it to heart. Grandpa will always stand by you."

Nevaeh forced a smile. "Don't worry, Grandpa. I won't let it bother me."

She only needed to maintain a fake marriage with him for three days.

Once she got the information from her grandmother after returning home, she would leave. What he said wouldn't matter to her at all.

"Good girl, I'm sorry for putting you in this position. Here, take this as a little something from me," the old man said, handing her a card.

Nevaeh quickly shook her head. "No, I can't accept this."

She felt embarrassed to take gifts like a card or a bracelet for just being a stand-in for three days.

"Take it! When you have children in the future, this whole family will be yours." The old man insisted, shoving the card into Nevaeh's pocket before turning to leave.

Nevaeh looked at the card in her hand, feeling a bit helpless.

Well, since Grandpa was so determined to give it to her, she could just pack the bracelet and the card together on the day she left and quietly place them in his room.

With that thought in mind, Nevaeh felt a lot less pressure and pushed the door open to step inside.

However, as soon as she stepped into the room, she felt an intense drop in pressure, as if the air itself had been frozen, creating an eerily chilling atmosphere.
