The old man was rushed to a nearby hospital.
In the VIP ward, a doctor was checking on him.
Nevaeh stood at the door, just about to walk in, when she suddenly felt like someone was watching her.
She turned her head and met Cassius's icy gaze, sharp like a blade, full of disdain.
Avoiding his stare, she stayed at the doorway, looking straight into the room. She was here for her grandfather, not to deal with his attitude.
The doctor put away the blood pressure monitor. "Sir, your vitals are stable. The high blood pressure is just from emotional stress. You need to stay positive to keep things under control."
The old man glared at Cassius. "Positive? My own grandson is trying to make me lose my mind. How do you expect me to stay calm?"
Hussein, standing nearby, took the chance to speak up. "Grandfather's been feeling tightness in his chest and short of breath. You should take a closer look."
The doctor let out a sigh but leaned in to check. "At your age, sir, you really can't afford to get angry. Otherwise, you'll just faint again."
The moment he finished talking, the old man immediately turned his glare back to Cassius. "You hear that? You're doing this on purpose, aren't you?!"
Seeing things heat up, Hussein gestured for everyone to leave the room.
Soon, only the old man and Cassius were left.
Cassius glanced at his grandfather, his eyes a mix of guilt and helplessness. He walked over to the cabinet, grabbed a glass of water, and silently offered it.
But the old man turned away, acting like a grumpy child. "I'm not drinking it. I'm too mad to swallow anything."
Cassius held the cup, hesitating, not knowing whether to put it down.
Seeing his grandfather lying there in the hospital bed, his chest felt heavy. His voice softened. "Grandpa, I just can't let her go. I can't marry another woman."
After his mom passed, his dad brought a new woman home so fast it made his head spin.
With the stepmother came a great change with his father, and everything just fell apart.
Cassius grew more distant, started getting into fights, and slowly shut down. It was his grandfather who took him in, raised him, and became the only person he truly trusted.
Nevaeh stood at the door, stunned at what she had just heard.
He liked someone?
Someone as cold as him... actually had feelings for someone?
What a shame.
"What other woman? That's your wife!" the old man snapped, sitting up suddenly, completely forgetting he was supposed to be dizzy. "You already married her! If you're so eager to get rid of her, you might as well throw your grandpa out too!"
"Grandpa…"
"I don't want to hear it." The old man turned away. "I'm not agreeing to any divorce."
Cassius sighed quietly and wheeled himself out of the room.
At the door, Nevaeh quickly turned around, trying to walk away and avoid running into him.
But in her rush, she didn't notice the step at the entrance and stumbled.
She barely caught herself by grabbing the wall, stopping just short of falling flat on her face.
Cassius arrived at the door just in time to see her pressed against the wall, clearly flustered and awkward.
His expression, already dark, grew even colder.
"I-I came to see grandfather," Nevaeh stammered, pointing toward the room.
Cassius narrowed his eyes. He knew exactly what was going on. To him, it looked like she'd been eavesdropping.
"Is this how desperate you are to stay close to me? Even using my grandfather now?" His voice dropped low, full of quiet rage, like he was scared the old man might hear.
"I didn't!" Nevaeh blurted out, her voice rising on instinct.
"Don't think just because he likes you, you can do whatever you want." Cassius stepped closer, his voice sharp and steady. "I will end this marriage."
