The news of Viscount Perrman’s assassination quickly spread throughout the capital. Upon returning from a trip to the city to attend to a few matters, I was taken aback by an unexpected figure in my room.
It was Red, one of Rexid’s assassins, whom we had dispatched to the Frania residence.
“Wow! You made it back safely!”
I exclaimed with joy, but the air was thick with tension for some reason. Rexid was gnashing his teeth in front of Red, while Owen had a look of despair on his face.
“What’s wrong with all of you?” I asked, perplexed.
Red looked up at me, his eyes welling up with tears, and dropped his head as I approached. Despite his demeanor, I continued to greet him with a smile. As I did so, Owen approached me and handed me a small note with crooked handwriting that looked like it belonged to Red.
