XANDER
"Alpha Xander! Alpha Xander!"
The slightly breathless voice came from behind the closed door of the terrace. A moment later, it opened, and a lanky guard appeared looking terrified.
"Alpha Xander," he called again but then stopped abruptly when he saw Emma.
I heaved a sigh and wondered who else might barge in after her. The entire Pack's military, perhaps?
I had come to the rooftop terrace to be alone, to think.
The discovery that Tyler had tried to kill Emma had shaken me to my core. It left me questioning who else in the Pack could no longer be trusted.
Tyler wasn't just any guard—he was old, one of the guards of the Pack House while we were growing up. I remembered Father having sensitive conversations in his presence. That was how much we believed in his loyalty.
So how could he, of all people, try to murder Emma? And more importantly...why?
As far as I knew, he had no quarrel with the Huntleys. If anything, he'd always seemed on good terms with Emma's mother.
