POV: Marcus Blackwood
My phone rang at 3 AM, waking me from the first peaceful sleep I'd had in days.
The caller ID made my blood freeze.
High Elder Marcus Grimm.
The most powerful werewolf in North America was calling me personally.
"Alpha Blackwood," his cold voice said when I answered.
"High Elder. This is an honor."
"No pleasantries, Marcus. We need to talk about your son."
I sat up in bed, my heart pounding. "Which son?"
"The one who just created the most powerful werewolf children in our history."
So they already knew about the twins.
"Sir, I can explain—"
"Can you? Can you explain how a rejected omega produced tri-bonded babies? Can you explain how fifty-three children suddenly developed powers overnight? Can you explain why my magical sensors detected an energy spike equivalent to a nuclear bomb in your territory?"
I couldn't explain any of it. I'd been asking myself the same questions all night.
"High Elder, my pack is loyal. We've always followed Council law."
