Cade's POV
I felt the curse hit Ember like a punch to my gut.
Even though our mate bond was broken, something still connected us. Maybe it was the babies we shared, or maybe some bonds are too strong to break completely.
Whatever it was, I could feel her life draining away and I was helpless.
"Ash!" I yelled. "Can you feel it too?"
"Yeah," he gasped, his face going pale. "She's dying, and she's taking everyone with her."
The black curse was spreading through the circle like poison. Luna Sarah was already on her knees. Jake and his teammates were getting weaker by the second.
"We have to do something," I said.
"Like what? We can't even move our hands."
That's when I remembered something my father taught me years ago. Something I thought was just an old legend.
"There's a way," I said. "But you're not going to like it."
"Tell me, I'm listening"
"Alpha bonding. If two alphas combine their power willingly, they can share the load of anything - even a death curse."
