Chapter 1 - Prologue: The scammer Attrix

"my name is Atrix. Yes, Atrix but with a double 't' so it's now Attrix. Now you maybe wondering where we are so le-- How do I know you are listening? Well that's for latter.. Now listen,"

This is the world of Lucidia, a world made from a videogame I personally funded the creation with the money I earned through various "honorable" means.

It was supposed to be a non-mainstream rpg with no micro transactions because I hated those pay-to-win games flooding the market.

The result? My programmer sold it from the back secretly, and my "honorable" methods becoming known as I was instantly sentenced to prison.

However my bad luck made sure i didn't see another day as a truck crashed into my transport truck and sent it sprawling into a shop.

I survived luckily.

However the shop's giant mascot with its full wooden body fell onto the truck alongside the sign and stole truck-kun's kill.

" and then i ended up here. Now switch to the third person narration for me Vivy. And- ah, make sure to play the whole flashback until we reached our current hotel. The viewers need the backstory."

"OK!!"

" Welcome EVERYONE." A voice echoes.

Floating unlogically within a black void, a platform stood with a pillar in between.

Multiple people stood on the platform. Some shivering at the surprise while others were ready to fight if anything came there way.

" Now you may be confused and all but listen to me first."

The voice plunged the room into the silence. every single noise reduced to nothing as a blinding light materialized.

It looked like a head, a body-less head made of light with two empty holes as eyes and a mouth that seemed to hold the stars within.

Everyone person was surprised from it. All except one- a translucent figure floating slightly away from the platform while he scoffed at the others who couldn't see him. Or rather he was too pathetic for them to notice.

He was a flimsy weak skin bones guy with dark spots under his eyes and a skinny body that looked starved. It was Attrix.

" Here we go again. More pawns and puppets for the game of these so-called gods."

Attrix was lamenting the gods while they formed alongside the golden head in their own forms.

Some gods looked like items, some like people or even images. However to Attrix, they appeared just like what they actually were - Humanoid to say the least.

This was normal thing for Attrix for he has already saw this process hundreds of times.

"Now some buff guy would try to bully others while insulting the gods and then get zapped to death." He predicted.

What happened next was just like he predicted and then the golden head again begin her long- twenty page script rehersal he has heard many times as the people were chosen one by one by the gods and transported out.

But there was something different or rather someone different.

" Didn't we just bring in 25 people? Who is this extra?"

"Who knows? Not our problem.. I will rather go strengthen my chosen until he wins this time."

" Ye ye, you wish you could. You beggar of a god.. go make some deal with demons instead."

"YOU!!"

Soon the gods left one after another until it was just the girl on the platform and Attrix who was floating aimlessly.

"Cruel bastards. They really left someone they brought here to die to starvation and boredom in this hell-hole."

" I am gonna die?" A shrilled voice replied to Attrix.

Attrix flipped around at the answer. Trying to figure out the replier.

He saw the girl looking at him. The answer came from the girl and her eyes were glued to him.

Attrix thought for a moment, his hopes being blown out once again as he discarded the notion of the girl noticing someone like him who even someone omniscient gods couldn't notice.

However-

" Umm. I didn't hear you clearly.. Can you repeat?" The girl repeated her request to Attrix.

The request hit Attrix like a arrow, Realisation dawning in him as he felt himself being pointed out in like a eternity and was suddenly pulled towards the girl until he was right in front of her.

"You c-can see me? You can hear me??"

" ..is that a problem?"

"YESSS– I MEAN NOO! It isn't a problem at all!"

"Are you sure?"

"Don't worry about it. Atleast we have time to th-"

Brimming with happiness at finally being noticed after the long time of loneliness in the void. Attrix moved forward and grabbed the girl's hand.

A transparent panel appeared between the two, words unknown carved into it that none of the could understand before they felt themself twisting.

Then as if being torn apart but without pain, the two vanished as they were sucked into a swirling vortex and disappeared away from the platform.

"*groaning in pain* Why the heck is this so cold? Somebody turns off the darn AC."

"The audacity of this ******. Did the cold get your head as well? Wake up!"

Attrix recieved a kick to the gut and wiggled around in pain as he opens his eyes again.

He wasn't in the void, he wasn't in some fantasy grassland or village but a full on city with vehicles running amok. But there was one thing different-- it was too futuristic to be his home city.

A next second a panel appeared in front of him. It's appearance followed by a hint of pain as memories began flooding in his mind.

It was at this moment he found himself staring down at a forest of concrete and metal from the trash filled dark alleys.

"Vis Nolin, 19 years old, half crippled son of a deceased parents, a level 1 in the world ... I guess this is the best luck I could get." Attrix sorted through the short memories.

"oh my, it looks like the bastard finally came out of his delusions." A cold voice came to Attrix again

The voice called to Attrix from behind and as he turned, he noticing a middle-aged man with one arm and multiple marks on his face standing in the corner with a sickle.

" I am surprised. To think someone like you was hiding a regeneration skill is unexpected but– it doesn't matter."

Suddenly Attrix felt goosebumps across his body, his body instantly shuddering as he felt the person's bloodlust hit him.

Then with a expected attack, The man lunged towards Attrix with the sickle with his hand already in swing.

The world slows down to a halt. Time turning to pace of a snail as soon Attrix could only watch himself stuck in front of a slowly moving killer.

[ Welcome to Lucidia.]

'Lucidia? Isn't that the game I–... I read about these sort of plots before. This sickens me!' Attrix was disgusted internally at the idea of being reduced to NPC in his own game but he stoned his heart and looked at the panel instead.

Time slowly begins continuing, returning to its pace as killer begins moving again.

" Die!!" The attacker yelled as he struck.

" You are the one going to die first, idiot."

with a surprising speed that left even the attacker in shock, Attrix performs a judo throw and sent the attacker crashing onto the road.

Then as if helped by the fortune. Attrix watched as a car soon crashed into the person, sending his body sprawling like a twisted toy as only a mangled corpse was left in the street alongside a car with a dented bumper.

Attrix looked at the corpse and the quickly arriving crowd and left after spitting on his dead enemy, wandering away into the crowd.
