Chapter 12 - Shadows Over the Throne

[Ancient Time – The Third Phase of Earth]

When Earth entered its Third Phase, the world was blessed—then cursed. The war that followed was not one of gods versus demons… but humans. In this age, gods and demons took birth as mortals, sharing families, blood, and love.

But all was shattered—because of a crown.

The previous king, seeking balance, divided the vast kingdom between his sons. But one of them, Kaivar, refused to accept it.

"Father, I will not accept this! I am the rightful king!"

The old king sighed. "No, Kaivar. Don't do this… You cannot defeat all five of your brothers. You'll bring ruin."

Kaivar clenched his fists, defiant. At his side stood Tharos, a warrior with pride and a voice as heavy as steel.

"If my friend cannot defeat them," Tharos declared, "then I will. I am more than capable of killing Valen myself."

From the opposite end of the hall, one of the great five brothers—Valen—stood and smiled coldly.

"So the mighty Tharos believes he can defeat me?"

He summoned his divine bow. Tharos did the same, lightning surging around him.

Just before the clash, an old warrior stepped into the throne room. He was the oldest and most revered of all. Though his hair was white, his body radiated strength like a thousand mountains.

Everyone in the chamber knelt—even the king bowed.

"My sons… what are you doing?" his voice echoed with divine power.

Valen and Tharos lowered their weapons immediately.

"Forgive us… Great Father," Valen said, eyes downcast.

The ancient warrior said nothing more, simply placing his hand on the shoulder of the eldest brother, Dharius.

"You are capable of ruling this world… but so is Kaivar."

"I will give each of you 10 missions. The one who completes their task… will inherit the crown."

All nodded respectfully. "We obey, Great Father."

[21 Years Later – The Great War of Dharma]

The war raged for 50 days.

In the end, the five divine brothers still stood. But on Kaivar's side, only he remained. His 99 brothers had all been slain… by Kael.

Now, on the battlefield where blood stained the soil, only two warriors fought:Kael and Kaivar.

The clash of their maces shattered the ground beneath them. The sky burned with the cries of the fallen. The four other brothers, along with their wives, watched in silence.

Kael saw the sunset nearing.

"Kaivar, today… is your last day."

Kael struck Kaivar's leg, forcing him to the ground.

"Do you remember how you laughed at my wife on that judgment day?""Now… I'll end it."

Kael raised his mace and struck Kaivar's chest with a mighty blow. Silence followed. The war was won.

But inside… all the brothers were broken.

That night, a stillness hung in the air—of victory tainted by sorrow.

Suddenly, at Kaivar's corpse, a demon emerged—grinning madly.

"Lord Kaivar… you said you'd rule forever! Hahaha!"

He bent low, his mouth stretching open unnaturally.

"You may not be king… but now, your corpse will help me remain in this world."

The demon began to eat Kaivar's body, laughing as he devoured every part until dawn.

[Present Day – The Night Luceniel Leaves for Country A]

1:00 AM – Luceniel's home

A frail old lady wandered the hallway, her fingers curled around a sharp knife, her lips curled in a wicked grin.

"Hahaha… I couldn't kill Luceniel… but I can still kill you, Rio…"

She whispered, slowly turning the doorknob to Rio's room.

He had been gaming just a minute ago… but now he was fast asleep.

Just as she raised her blade to strike—a shadow caught her hand.

A demon—no ordinary one—stood there, gripping her arm. Startled, she swung the knife at him, now shrouded in black aura. The blade struck the demon, and he groaned.

"Ah… not bad. Still as dangerous as you were in the Great War," he chuckled darkly.

Blood dripping, he smiled.

"I didn't come to kill you… I came to give you something."

He raised a glowing green hand—her body transformed. She became five years younger.

"Believe me, human… I'll return your youth. Just find Luceniel's weakness," he hissed, voice demonic and trembling.

She snarled.

"Get lost. I'll kill Rio and Luceniel. I don't care if he's a Supreme God in disguise. If I can steal his power… I will rule all Seven Heavens and Seven Hells."

The demon only laughed.

"Fool. You don't know anything."

Suddenly, the badge Luceniel gave Rio began to glow with violent green aura. The entire room lit up.

"What is that?!"

The demon was thrown from the house, crashing outside. The old woman fled too—gasping for air.

"I'll kill you… three years from now, when Earth's dark energy peaks."

She slammed her door shut. In her room, she entered a meditative posture and began chanting. A dark aura began to surround her.

Inside the house, the badge healed everyone silently.

Outside, the demon stood back up, brushing off dust.

He turned toward the house—only to be stopped by a voice behind him.

"Hey… don't you think you should stay out?"

He turned, startled. A man stood behind him, calm… but terrifyingly powerful.

"Who… who are you? I don't want trouble—please, don't hurt me," the demon stammered, trembling. He couldn't sense this man's power at all.

The man smiled.

"Friend? Heh… I'll let you go today. Go somewhere else."

He raised a hand—and with a flick, the demon was flung out of the country.

Then the man vanished into the air—leaving only a faint smile behind.

The night remained calm. But something had been prevented—something that should never have happened.

In their rooms, the house slept peacefully.Except for one…

The old woman sat cross-legged in the shadows, chanting. Darkness swirled around her, whispering promises of revenge.
