Gu Tianchen, arriving next, looked glum, as if their roles had swapped.
Hongying eyed Gu Tianchen curiously. "Little Brother Tianchen, what's wrong? Bad night's sleep?"
"Blame him. Kept me up all night," Gu Tianchen said, pointing at Lin Qiye.
"Pfft!"
Si Xiaonan spat out her soy milk, giving them a weird look. "You two didn't… you know, right?"
"What're you thinking? We sparred last night, and he kept pummeling me. I surrendered, but he wouldn't stop—clearly revenge!" Gu Tianchen said.
Lin Qiye's lips curved, sipping his soy milk with satisfaction.

Hongying stared at Lin Qiye, stunned.
She'd experienced Gu Tianchen's brute strength firsthand. Even at Pond Realm, she wasn't sure she could suppress him.
Yet Lin Qiye had overpowered this brute last night. Were all divine agents this freakish?

The four arrived at the Peace Agency, finding Chen Muye and the others already there.

"A suspected supernatural incident. The location…" Chen Muye's gaze landed on Gu Tianchen and Lin Qiye.
"Cangnan No. 2 High School."
"No. 2 High?" Lin Qiye said, surprised.
"Yep, your old school. And the report came from someone you know well," Chen Muye said.
Lin Qiye looked puzzled. Gu Tianchen already knew the informant was Li Yifei, and that he was the host of the Nanda Serpent Demon.
Li Yifei emerged from the back room, eyes bloodshot.
"Why's it you?" Lin Qiye asked, surprised.
"Tianchen, Qiye, what're you two doing here?" Li Yifei said, equally shocked.
Gu Tianchen gave Li Yifei a sly smile. "That's our line."
Knowing the plot in advance, Gu Tianchen had one question.
If he killed Li Yifei now, would the infected serpent spawn die?
If the host's death didn't affect the spawn, he couldn't risk it yet.
The serpent spawn weren't just at No. 2 High—some students' families were infected too.
Acting rashly could spook them, and with their disguise abilities, finding them in Cangnan would be like searching for a needle in a haystack.
For now, he'd watch Li Yifei's performance.
Technically, Li Yifei wasn't acting. He was just a secondary personality created by the Nanda Serpent Demon's subconscious.
Everything he saw was what the demon wanted him to see, all to get him to join the Night Watchmen.

"You?" Chen Muye frowned. "Stick with Hongying's team. If you perform well, I'll consider letting you join the Night Watchmen."
"Captain Chen, I won't let you down!" Li Yifei said firmly, his eyes practically shouting, Coach, I want to play basketball!
Twenty minutes later.
No. 2 High School gate.
Hongying grimaced at her school uniform. "Your school's uniforms are hideous."
Gu Tianchen said earnestly, "Depends on the person. Sister Hongying, you make this uniform look better than ever. No girl in the school could outshine you."
Lin Qiye stared at Gu Tianchen, stunned. So smooth—aiming for grad school?
Hongying beamed. "Hahaha, Little Brother Tianchen, you're too sweet! I'm bursting with energy now."
"What about me?" Si Xiaonan asked, eyes sparkling.
Gu Tianchen looked at Si Xiaonan's twin buns hairstyle. "It's like it was made for you—radiating youthful charm. Your pure, lovely look is bound to be the dream girl of countless high school boys."
"Aaah… Sister Hongying, I'm a bit shy, but he's so good at compliments," Si Xiaonan said, hiding behind Hongying.
Lin Qiye, ever the stoic, coughed. "Ahem… hate to ruin the vibe, but first period's started. How do we get in?"
"Easy. Climb over."
Gu Tianchen leaped, effortlessly clearing the school wall.
His practiced move screamed frequent wall-hopping.
"Brute, you can climb, but Xiaonan…"
Before Lin Qiye finished, Si Xiaonan gracefully tapped the wall and flipped over like a butterfly.
"Uh…"
"Don't underestimate her, Qiye. Xiaonan's been a Night Watchman for two years. If she couldn't handle this, she'd tarnish the captain's name," Hongying said, smiling.
"You… good to go?" Hongying asked.
"Of course."
Lin Qiye vaulted over, landing steadily.
Hongying, with her Pond Realm strength, landed effortlessly and outlined the plan.
"You two check the students for infected. Xiaonan and I will find the dean. Stay in touch via earpiece," Hongying said, tapping her comms.
"Yes, ma'am."
Gu Tianchen and Lin Qiye split up, scanning classrooms.
"Tianchen, how's your side?" Lin Qiye asked.
Gu Tianchen used his Nether Eyes. The infected were reduced to heaps of flesh—dead the moment the serpent demon consumed them.
"Not good. At least two or three infected per class. You?" Gu Tianchen asked.
"Same here. Flag-raising's after this period, right?" Lin Qiye asked.
"Yeah. I have a plan," Gu Tianchen said.
"What plan?"
Lin Qiye heard a sword scraping the ground through the earpiece.
"My plan's simple… kill them all."
