The sun streamed through the wide windows of my suite in golden streaks. It was yet another day, and my body felt surprisingly well rested in spite of the last couple of days.
I was hungry, but I still wasn't settled enough to let anyone within the estate handle my food. Not in the mood to eat out today, I decided to head to the kitchen and prepare my breakfast once more.
I got out of bed, walked to the bathroom to freshen up quickly before I threw on a robe and then headed out. And the few people I met as I walked down the hallway greeted me as hurried away skittishly as though they feared I'd have them shot or hung. I wasn't a person who fed off the fear of others, but if fear was the only way I'd get them to respect my authority then so be it.
