Chapter 2 - [2]. Killing Nappa

After arriving in the world of Dragon Ball, a few days passed in the blink of an eye. Kaso's initial excitement had finally calmed down.

He knew the plot that lay ahead—Planet Vegeta would be destroyed in just two years.

Time was extremely tight.

Without power, trying to survive in a super-dimensional world like Dragon Ball was nothing but a delusion.

Right now, Kaso had a power level of just 350. This was after he'd pushed his body through intense training, using methods he remembered from his previous life.

But even with that, it wasn't nearly enough. He was desperate to grow stronger. Over the past few days, he'd been heading into the forest repeatedly, trying to comprehend the concept of ki—but he just couldn't grasp it.

There was no doubt about the power of ki. Back when Vegeta invaded Earth with a power level of 18,000, he still lost to Goku and the others—who, while weaker in raw numbers, had mastered the use of ki.

Sure, part of it was because Vegeta underestimated his opponents, but there was no denying that ki had made a huge difference.

Ki was mysterious. Hard to describe, difficult to define. It wasn't just raw energy—though it could take the form of it.

Even though Kaso now had far more energy than any Earth martial artist, his control and understanding of ki was basically a disaster.

"Forget it..." he sighed.

Once he left Planet Vegeta, he was definitely going to head to Earth, learn the true nature of ki, and maybe even "borrow" some Senzu Beans from Korin the Hermit.

Thinking about that made Kaso chuckle.

He was sitting quietly on a rock by a clear river. In the distance, mountains loomed, tall and imposing. He remembered how, as a kid, he used to mimic Goku's Kamehameha like an idiot.

Now… he actually had the chance.

"Let's see what one of those legendary energy blasts looks like!"

Kaso closed his eyes and concentrated. Following the instructions from his merged memories, he focused all his energy into the palm of his hand.

Before long, a glowing energy ball began to take shape in his hand.

The orb sparkled brightly, wrapped in a blue aura. Looking directly at it felt like staring into a high-powered arc welder—blinding and searing. Crackling electric arcs danced around it, giving off sharp, hissing sounds.

"This is it... an energy blast!"

"I wonder how strong it is..."

Unable to resist the temptation, Kaso hurled the energy ball toward one of the distant mountains.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Rocks shattered and flew in every direction. The mountain was blasted open halfway up its slope, leaving a massive crater.

This wasn't Earth—a fragile planet that broke at the slightest touch. This was Planet Vegeta, with ten times Earth's gravity and far more stable terrain.

"Gulp…"

Kaso swallowed hard. So this is what an energy blast feels like...

I'm amazing!

Then he paused.

Wait… did I just blow up some random animals or passersby?

…Well, if I did, I did.

Creating that kind of energy blast had been exhausting for a beginner like him. No use worrying about it now.

"Still got a long way to go…"

He stood and leapt into the river, letting his body relax in the cool water. After all, he'd trained all day, and hardly any Saiyans ever came around this area. He could afford to chill for a moment.

Even a Saiyan needed proper rest after over exerting themselves.

Suddenly—

The sound of rustling grass came from the distance.

Something—or someone—was approaching from the forest.

"Who could it be?" Kaso tensed.

Saiyans were ruthless and cold-hearted. The fact that none of them had so much as flinched when Planet Vegeta was destroyed said everything.

These past few days, Kaso had gone out of his way to avoid contact with others, focusing on his unique training to prevent anyone from noticing that his power level had tripled in just a few days.

Who knew what kind of chaos that would trigger?

He shut his eyes and sank beneath the river surface, peering up tensely through the rippling water.

Footsteps came closer... and then a shadow appeared above.

It was Nappa.

Kaso narrowed his eyes and sneered silently. That bastard…

Nappa was scanning the area, muttering to himself: "The scouter clearly picked up a power level around here. Where the hell is that guy?"

He thought it was just some fellow Saiyan training nearby. A power level of 350? Not bad—he wanted to check it out.

But after looking around, he found no one.

Shrugging, he turned and slowly began walking away.

Kaso watched him from the river with a cold expression. Deep down, he could feel the original Kaso's leftover emotions stirring.

In the memories, Nappa constantly insulted Kaso and Ausbi'er, calling them trash and disgraces to Elite Saiyans. During sparring among young Saiyans, he always hit too hard. He even once said that if it weren't for Bardock's reputation, he'd have killed them already.

Kill Ausbi'er and me, huh?

Kaso's lips curled. Now that I've grown stronger… let's see who kills who.

Maybe it was his Saiyan blood awakening, but Kaso had started to feel cold and ruthless. Killing someone no longer felt like a big deal—it was just… natural.

You came into this forest alone, huh?

"Die, bastard."

Kaso began building energy inside his body.

A few moments later—

Seeing Nappa moving further away, he knew that if he didn't act now, he'd miss his chance.

In an instant, Kaso erupted with a surge of power. The river exploded behind him with a deafening crash, water shooting hundreds of meters into the air.

"I knew it was coming from here!" Nappa spun around, annoyed.

He wanted to see which fellow Saiyan it was. Just moments ago, the scouter had picked up someone powerful.

Then he saw a small figure launching out of the river.

Wrapped in a blazing white aura, Kaso hovered midair, the sun behind him casting his silhouette in brilliant light.

The glare made it hard for Nappa to see who it was. He raised a hand to shield his eyes, barely able to make out the figure's outline.

It looked… familiar.

The scouter buzzed. 350.

The number flashed on his lens.

Wait—why was the power level getting closer?

No—this wasn't a friendly approach!

He's attacking me!

Nappa's eyes widened.

But realizing it was too late.

Suddenly, a dark blur flashed behind him.

"You never thought this day would come, did you?" Kaso's voice was ice-cold, full of vengeance. His eyes locked onto Nappa like a beast eyeing its prey.

He had imagined taking revenge for the original Kaso.

He just hadn't expected the opportunity to come so soon.

"You… Kaso?!" Nappa's pupils shrank.

Impossible!

A few days ago, this trash was on the verge of death—how was he suddenly healed? How the hell did he reach 350?!

He only had 260!

Now Nappa was filled with fear and disbelief.

Then—he felt a searing heat on his back.

A deep blue energy sphere was pressed against him. The scorching temperature and raw force burned against his skin. Sweat rolled down his spine. His body trembled uncontrollably.

"K-Kaso… b-brother… I-I was just messing around before… Please, let me go!"

Nappa was terrified, stuttering with panic.

But memories of how he used to bully Kaso and Ausbi'er flashed through his mind. He was doomed, and he knew it.

Why… why did this trash grow so powerful in just a few days?!

He tried to calm himself. Maybe he could talk his way out of it.

"What's in it for me if I let you go?" Kaso asked coldly.

"I—I'll forget everything that happened before! I'll even have my father arrange a good mission for you!" Nappa blurted out, terrified that Kaso might blast him at any second.

As long as he could stall him, he could get his father to kill him later!

…But Nappa forgot one important thing:

He was already in Kaso's hands.

"Sure," Kaso said suddenly.

Nappa's eyes lit up. His mouth curled into a relieved grin.

Spare me?

Kaso smirked darkly. Then why didn't you spare the old me?

"Go to hell… and apologize to the real Kaso while you're there."

With a cold glint in his eye, Kaso summoned a dark blue energy ball in his hand and slammed it directly into Nappa's head.

"You liar!" Nappa screamed in agony.

With 350 power level to his 260, Nappa had no way to resist. And this was a sneak attack—he never stood a chance.

"No...!"

The energy blast flung him backward toward the mountains. The intense heat seared his flesh as he screamed in pain.

But Kaso didn't stop.

With a wave of his other hand, he summoned a second, even larger energy sphere and hurled it after Nappa.

The two blasts collided.

BOOOOM!

The explosion was deafening. Winds howled. The sky shook.

Nappa was vaporized in the blast. The mountain—already damaged from Kaso's earlier energy ball—completely collapsed, raining rocks of all sizes down the slope.

"Dead?"

Kaso's furrowed brow relaxed. A wicked grin tugged at his lips.

Damn, I'm good.

After cleaning up the traces left behind in the forest, Kaso carried a giant fish over his shoulder and headed home.

Just as he was about to reach the house, a group of Saiyans appeared from around the corner.

Leading them was a short boy with sharp features, the spitting image of King Vegeta—from the flame-like black hair to the high, smooth forehead and arrogant eyes.

It was Prince Vegeta.

"Hm?"

Vegeta frowned. Wasn't this Kaso guy supposed to be seriously injured by Nappa?

How did he recover so quickly?

He glanced at Kaso but didn't press. Instead, he asked coldly, "Have you seen Nappa?"

"No," Kaso replied indifferently.

Vegeta didn't bother asking again. He turned and left with his crew.

"Hah… whew…"

The moment Vegeta was out of sight, Kaso let out a huge sigh of relief. That felt even more stressful than skipping the bill back on Earth.

He really thought they'd found out about what he did to Nappa.

"Damn… time to bounce."

Feeling guilty like a thief, Kaso didn't dare stay. If Vegeta turned back… things would get messy.
