Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Jr. Explorer Exam

In a dungeon to the northwest of Crossroad Town, a test for jr. explorers is taking place. The purpose of which is to see if they are ready to become full members of the Exploration Guild. On floor F2 of the dungeon a group of three Pokemon where making their way to staircase. Their goal, was a flag found in the exterior part of floor F5. One was a cat like Pokemon, another was a bird and the last was a bipedal humanoid Pokemon.

Before they reached the staircase, one of them noticed something. It was a Pokemon lying on the ground, countless injuries covered its body.

"Wait stop! Look over there, it seems there is an injured Pokemon!"

"Is it one of the test takers? This dungeon isn't that hard that you should be in this kind of condition."

"Not to mention I do see the Exploration Guild's badge on them."

"We should we with them, we are in the middle of a test…"

"Do you even have to ask? Clearly we should take it out of here!"

"But hat about the test? The rule is that if you use the badge to escape, then you forfeit your chance."

"We would have to wait another month before the next jr. explorer test."

"The test can be taken again but we should save them now!"

"You can save them if you want then! I understand where you are coming from. An explorer also does rescue missions, but this isn't a mission and I don't want to wait a whole month to take the test again!"

"Magby I can't believe you right now! You would prefer your own gains over the life of another Pokemon? What's the point of being an explorer then!"

"Relax, you are wasting your time trying to change Magby's mind, they are the type that prefers treasure hunting to any other type of explorer work."

"Are you coming with me?"

"Why don't we just bring them with us to the fifth floor and then let the examiner take them? That way we do both."

"You want to haul them up 3 floors of the dungeon in their condition? Wattrel I thought you were the smart one!"

"Ugh…"

"Fine it seems I am the only one here that isn't selfish! You can both go finish the test! Enjoy yourselves!"

The three Pokemon split up, two of them went up the staircase while one stayed behind. They pulled out a small copper badge and pressed the button in the center. Outside at the southern entrance to the dungeon, a soft white light appeared.

The examiner was surprised to see someone outside of the dungeon already.

"Ms. Cinccino there is an emergency!"

"What's going on? Oh it's you sprigatito what's happened, did one of your teammates get poisoned?"

"Who is this? I don't recognize them."

She flips through a list of examinees, and doesn't see any Pokemon matching this one.

"Who are they, they aren't on the list."

"I found them on the second floor near the staircase. My teammates didn't want to help them, how selfish!"

"You usually work in the infermary so I thought I should bring them to you I know you are in charge of first aid for this test."

"Give me a moment."

Ms. Cinncino checks their condition and provides basic first aid. While working, Sprigatito fidgets.

"Ms. Cinccino have I failed the test? I heard that if you use the badge at all before getting the flag, that it's an instant fail."

"Unfortunately I don't have the ability to make that call, but once we return to the guild you can ask the head proctor for this trial."

Ms. Cinccino uses a device for short distant communication and made a call.

Not long after a Pyroar bounds up to Ms. Cinccino and Sprigatito. In only half an hour they arrived at their destination.

The sun starts to set and the examinees return to the guild. Sprigatito is wait for conformation whether they failed or not, and has to watch more then half the teams recieve their full Exploration Guild badge. Both Wattrel and Magby have been held back by the examiners while they decide if they pass, even though they abandoned their team member. In real missions, abandoning team members is unexceptable outside of life and death situations. Not long after, the verdict is given that they all failed. Sprigatito was given an exemption for rescuing another Pokemon mid-test, and she will be given the chance to retake the test in one weeks time. Whether she has a team or not is her own problem.

In the early morning Hora slowly opens her eyes, squinting in the sun coming through the window.

"Ouch ouch ouch why do I feel like I've been put through a blender?"

She looked around and saw several beds made up of hay, moss and what looked like duck down. The beds were sparcely filled only about a sixth of the available beds were occupied. She attempted to get up only to collapse shortly after. Just atempting to walk was painful and she couldn't stand up straight without falling face first.

She looked down at her hands only to notice that her hands were soft brown paws. She sat there dumbfounded, before touching her own beans in bliss~. She took a deep breath before looking for a reflective surface. Getting up slowly, she winced in pain before slowly hobbling towards the window. The pale reflection that stared back at her was an eevee!

"Calm down, calm dow… I can't have a panic attack in the middle of a hospital with a bunch of sleeping sick or injured Pokemon!"

She took a few deep breaths to clear her mind, before going right back to bed thinking she'll figure things out later! Absolute procrastination! Before she can reach her soft downy bed the door swings open quietly as a small bird Pokemon that looks like a duck walks in pushing a cart.

"You're awake! Ms. Cinccino said you would be out for a few days." You should go back to bed, when you are ready you can see Ms. Cinccino in the consultation room."

"My name is Ducklet! I'm an assistant nurse here, but I don't do much except bring medicine and tools for the other nurses to use. Oo also I help make the beds and clean up too."

"Anyways rest well I'll try not to disturb you."
