"The preparations are almost ready professor, the final calculations are done."
"Very well, proceed."
*the sound of machinery whirs to life*
"I hope that once this test is done, we can go back to the surface. You also haven't seen your son in quite some time. You should spend more time with him."
"Yes I know *sigh, but you know how important our research is! Some sacrifices must be made… I miss him though, I'll make sure to get him a gift when I return to the surface."
"I think you being there is worth more than any 'gift' you could give him."
"I understand but you don't have to berate me o-"
"Shhhh- it's working!"
"Alright comeback in the observation roo-."
A brilliant white portal opens at the top of the device.
BEEP BEEP BEEP
The lights along the sides of the room turned a vivid shade of red, as a blaring alarm signaled an error.
A strong suction force caused everything in the vicinity to back-flow into the portal.
Grabbing onto anything sold, the assistant slowly got dragged towards the machine.
The professor, ran towards the opporating room door and pulled hard to no avail. the pressure difference between the two rooms, was like trying to open a car door at the bottom of a lake.
Running back, the professor grabbed a chair and threw it towards the observation rooms window. It cracked causing the shards of glass and then the entire window to fly towards the portal, like dust being picked up by a vacuum cleaner.
Some shards of glass struck the assistant, cutting into her, and causing her grip to loosen.
The professor reached through the broken window, catching her wrist on some broken class left in the frame.
"Quick! Take my hand"
The assistant reached out to grab the professors hand, but this caused her stability to faulter. Her legs lifted off the ground as she attempted to reach for the professor.
They could only barely touch, the professor knowing that time was ticking, left the assistant. A flash of indignation appeared in the eyes of the apprentice, thinking she had been abandoned.
The main controls where in the opporating room, but the professor went for the manual override inside the observation room.
The assistant could no longer hold on anymore, and her body hurtled towards the brilliant white portal.
The assistant calmed down, knowing that in emergency situations that you should stay calm, panicking would only make things worse. Suddenly her body hit a table in mid air, knocking the wind out of her. She gasped for air while trying to stabilize herself. From her vantage point she could see the professor in the observation room working the manual override controls, while pieces of furniture flew at her.
Consciousness slowly fading the last thing she saw was the professor, before being pulled completely into the portal.
She opened her eyes and saw a long tunnel with many branches going in different directions. Looking around the tunnel was dark and lifeless only the light of the tunnel entrances were visible. Her eyes started to burn, and her head pounded as if her brain was being overstimulated. She can feel her body stretching out, her joints arching from the strain. It's like spaghettification that happens near black holes.
Suddenly something smashed into her, sending her careening off into one of the branch tunnels. She started to loose consciousness, thinking this was it, the end of her. She closed her eyes in acceptance of her fate, but she seemed to slow down, and her body didn't ache as much. She opened her eyes and found herself in an empty space the walls of which were a pulsating rainbow of colours. Somehow she could still breathe in this empty space, and her body started to feel pleasantly warm.
"Welcome"
"This is the portal that leads to the world of Pokemon"
An androgynous voice could be heard, but it seem to be speaking from everywhere and nowhere at the same time.
"The world of Pokemon? There are Pokemon in the world I came from… can you bring me back there?"
"Unfortunately, I do no have control of the wormhole you came from."
"Wormhole?"
"Yes that is the space that lead you here."
"Wait so I can't go back?"
"I do not have that power. I am the watcher of this world."
"Watcher?"
"A watcher is the being that watches over the world assigned to them. We do not interfere personally in the affairs of the world."
"Oh…"
"Anyways before I can bring you into this world, I have several questions for you."
"I want you to answer them sincerely. Ok? Let's begin."
"Question On-"
"Wait what kind of questions and what are their purpose?"
"…"
"Question One: You get two gift boxes, one is small and one is large. Which do you take?"
"I guess I'll take the smaller one? Smaller gifts tend to hand made"
"Question Two: It's summertime! Where do you go?"
"Uh I still work during the summer mostly. But if you ask where I would go to relax, that isn't something I can do all the time, I'd probably go to a spa or somewhere else private. Beaches are too crowded."
Question Three: A hand sticks out of the toilet! What do you do?"
"What kind of question is that?!"
"…"
"Sigh* I would probably call down and ask if they were stuck hehe. If they didn't answer, I would close the lid."
"Question Four: Do you often yawn?"
"Ya… How would you like to stay awake at all hours for research?"
"Question Five: Do you fall asleep often?"
"I just told you I'm always burning the midnight oil, if I wasn't I'd think I had narcolepsy."
"Question Six: It's the weekend and nobody will hang out with you. What do you do?"
"Probably go to the library or bookstore, maybe finish a drawing or take a nap."
"Question Seven: Do you think you are cool? Be honest."
"Who would ask someone like that?!"
"…"
"Tsk* I think my job is cool, but nobody knows I do it, people see me as a loner that has no fiends and hangs out at the library… sooooo no?"
"Question Eight: Do you imagine things for your amusement?
"If I had time to, I would"
"Question Nine: Are you male or female?"
"…female"
"You seem to be the calm type."
"What does that mean?"
"Ok we are all set! Let's get you into the world of Pokemon!"
