Chapter 3 - Bring it on

[+4 terror points]

[+9 terror points]

[Terror points: 13]

"So this is how it works?" Zai smirked while looking at the dangling screen.

Just like that, he had obtain 13 terror points. But since he didn't know what the shop could offer, this points were worthless to him as he didn't understand their market value.

It's not like he could use the terror points to trade in the outer market, as it could only be used on the shop system, making them worthless to Zai since the shop was currently locked.

But as he took another step, his ears twitched after hearing something breaking through the air while heading towards his direction with a howling hiss.

Fueled by his instincts, Zai twisted his head to the direction, only to come face to face with a massive fireball heading towards his direction.

The attack was too massive for the current body to bare. If it was his previous body, this could have been nothing, a mere fly bumping to him, but with how weak this current body was, he knew it would cause some great damages.

Thus, he tried to duck, but then, no matter how hard he tried to command this body to duck, it froze, more like time around it had been paused.

The attack was just too fast for him to duck, leaving him no other option but to grit his teeth and waited to bare the pain.

The fireball connected with his body, lifting him to the air as his body was send flying backwards and landing outside of the hall, before skidding across the floor.

[A critical hit had been taken]

[-5 HP]

[HP: 5/10]

The text displayed.

"Fad, I won't let you disrespect mom and dad like that!" The boy muttered while summoning some golden flames on his hands.

"Did you see that?"

"It's really it, the fire elements."

"He really does posses a cultivation root."

"He is really the future of Xu sect."

The murmurs erupted.

Just having a cultivation root to mortals is like having the powers of a god. One would be worshiped like one, and even be treated better than how a prince could.

But even then, each cultivation root rank has it's own limitations. Like for instance, an ordinary cultivation root rank could allow an immortal to cultivate only an aura, but a mortal could cultivate an aura, and one of the six elemental attributes.

A rare cultivation root rank to immortals would grant an aura and one of the six elemental attribute cultivation. But to mortals, it would be an aura, and three more elemental attributes.

A legendary cultivation root rank could grant an aura and four different elemental attributes to immortal, but an aura and upto six different elemental attributes to mortals.

For some reason, the cultivation root rank seems to be favoring mortals more than immortals, and nobody knows why. But maybe it because breaking through the mortals rank and become an immortal is almost next to impossible.

But then, one thing is certainly clare about the cultivation root rank. A mortal breaking through the ranks and become an immortal would somehow carry with them the benefits of their respective root rank.

"That strength!" Zai muttered while struggling to force his uper body up. "He might be at a warrior martial rank, but the strength of his flames, that's certainly an ordinary cultivation root rank." He chuckled.

[You are above the entire mortal Xu Sect.]

[Show the Xu sect that they are nothing]

[A new Quest has been triggered]

[Quest: Defeat your opponent with just a single strick to receive an instant level up plus 50 Exp.]

The Quest itself sounded impossible to Zai. He wasn't even martial ranked, and his opponent was at a warrior martial rank...

There is always a clear gap between the ranks, a martial artist at an Intermediate martial rank is ten time stronger than a martial artist at a novice rank. And since Zai wasn't even martial ranked, it meant that he was ten times weaker than a martial artist ranked at novice martial rank.

That was six ranks apart, so how really could he possibly win this fight?

But then, an idea struck his mind.

"That skill!" He muttered with his face brightening up. "But unfortunately I can't use it with zero qi points." His face was washed over by sadness once more.

But looking at his opponent, proudly standing there and waited to be praised, Zai sat upright with his legs crossed as he started cultivating his Qi.

He was already a pro at this. He has done it multiple times, and even knew a better method of cultivating that would make his body to take in a massive amount of qi at a rapid speed.

[A new cultivation technique has been detected]

[Would the user wish to proceed and learn this technique?]

[Yes]. [No]

{Note! Learning this new technique wouldn't ulter the user's signature technique]

'Yes.' Zai responded with a thought.

He couldn't cultivate the signature technique the system has offered. That technique might be strange to him, and since he needed to finish this fight with a single strick, he decided to go with something he was already familiar with.

[The flaming ice cultivation technique has been registered.]

[Your cultivation root has been granted the name; Phoenix Rainbow Wings]

[Your cultivation root has been granted a Phoenix Wings Form].

A set of new text displayed, but Zai ignored all of them as his mind was focused on something else. He was so much focused on cultivating his Qi that forced him to ignore the texts displaying.

The air around him became heavy, flickering in both the essence and temperature.

The air around him felt really hot, more like the hell fire, and yet, at the same time, freezing, like the deepest of the ocean.

But of course, his opponent was way too arrogant to notice what was happening as his was solely focused on receiving the praises.

The only people who notices what was happening were the lady, and the man previously kicked by Zai.

"Is he... Cultivating?" The lady muttered with confusion painted all-over her charming face.

"He is. He's really cultivating." The man muttered. But he didn't have anything like surprised or confused expression.

Instead, he looked more... Amazed. Like he had been waiting for this day the whole of his life, and it was finally happening.

"Mama, how could Fad cultivate? He is just incompetent. Bedsides, you are all forgetting that his dantain is broken." The young lady spoke, brushing away the thought.

[+17 Qi points]

[+3 Qi points]

[Qi points: 107]

'I think that's enough to launched a surprised attack.' Zai thought while changing the course of his cultivation.

This time, it wasn't like he was absorbing the qi from the air anymore, it was more like he was searching, or rather creating something deep within hi essence.

'If I'm not wrong, this is how I created that skill back at the immortal realm.' He thought. 'Although it was among the weakest skills I've ever created, it certainly saved me from countless stuck situationsl.' Zai thought and soon, a new text displayed, announcing his success.

[A new kombat skill has been created.]

[Phase Level 1: This skill al...]

Reading the skills description, Zai smiled as the skill was perfectly refined

"Hey, little pig." Zai muttered while standing.

"Fad! I'll f*cking kill you!" The boy gritted his teeth.

"Forget it. If it comes to a fight to the death, you can never defeat me." Zai spoke. " But you seemed really strong." He added.

"But of course." The boy spoke after hearing the praise. "I'm only sixteen and I've already managed to breakthrough to the warrior martial rank. And what about you, sixteen and... Nothing?" The boy laughed.

'I'm gonna used your arrogance to defeat you.' Zai smiled back.

"Then why don't we place some little bet. Let's fight, and if you defeat me, I will forever be your slave, but if I manage to defeat you. You and your people will let me walk out of here unharmed."

"Hahahah!" The boy laughed out. "You really wanna die?" He asked.

"Is he for real?"

"How could he even think of fighting Xu Feng?"

"Even I at my level wouldn't dare to challenge Xu Feng!"

Those standing around question.

"Ok. It's a deal?" Xu Feng responded while taking a fighting stance with golden flames enclosing his fist.

"Wait. Just one more thing." Zai spoke while taking a step back. "You must first promise that your parents would honer our agreement." He added while looking at the lady and the man.

That's when Zai noticed it. They didn't seem so confidence like they were before, and weren't certainly looking at him like he was an outsider. Instead they seemed a bit regretful, and at a lost road.

"Don't worry about them!" Xu Feng shouted back. "They would gladly do anything I ask, without even questioning!" He shouted, making the lady and the man to look at each other awkwardly

"Okay then, bring it on." Zai muttered with a devilish smile.
