Chapter 45 - Chapter 45: Who’s Getting Kicked Out

"You think killing me will help? Don't you know the whole world already knows about this? Fool," Wen Dong taunted the man surnamed Gong.

"Don't get emotional, Wen Dong. Killing you wasn't my idea, it was…" Gong Huishan didn't finish — Wen Dong fired first.

"I don't need to know," Wen Dong said, expression calm again, and with one shot killed Gong Huishan.

Ye Mo expected Wen Dong to ask about him, but she didn't. Even if she asked, Ye Mo wouldn't say — he came here just for fifty thousand yuan, never expecting it to be so hard to get. If he hadn't been so careful, he might have died here.

Unexpectedly, Wen Dong said to Ye Mo, "Let's go. The two we killed were probably guards; there shouldn't be anyone else here. I'm going to plant a bomb to blow this place up."

Ye Mo thought to himself, Where's your bomb?

Before he could ask, Wen Dong already took a bundle of bombs from her waist — she really did carry bombs strapped there, which meant her timer was real. This woman was crazy. If she blew it up, what would happen to him?

Though annoyed, Ye Mo said nothing. He had seen enough dangerous scenes not to care about one more.

Twenty minutes later, they drove away, but Ye Mo could still hear the deafening explosion.

"Why didn't you fly to Guilin?" Wen Dong finally asked after a long silence. Now she knew Ye Mo was no ordinary person, which explained his calmness all along. She also knew Ye Mo was displeased but silent. Without him, she would have died along with those men, unable to survive.

She wasn't afraid of death, but if she died, she couldn't use the money. She was unwilling to give up. Though she didn't say it aloud, she was very grateful to Ye Mo.

"No ID card," Ye Mo answered simply. Even if he had one, he probably wouldn't dare to use it.

Song Shaowen was killed by him, and he disappeared that night. The Song family would eventually investigate him. Using an ID to buy a plane ticket would give them a clue. He wasn't ready to face the Song family yet.

After Wang Peng recovered, Ye Mo became wary — he wasn't the only expert in this world.

After a pause, Wen Dong said, "Thank you this time. Without you, I probably wouldn't be alive. Fifty thousand was too little to pay you, but this money isn't mine — it's for something else. You can keep the box with the model inside — it's valuable. With your skills, you should be able to protect it. Don't ask me what it is, I don't know much either.

If you trust me, in three hours we'll arrive at Luyang — a remote mountain area. I can help you get a real ID card there."

Ye Mo didn't care about the model or documents inside the box. But a real ID would be very useful. Hearing Wen Dong could help him get one, he quickly said, "I trust you, of course. I need an ID card."

As for payment, Ye Mo was content with fifty thousand yuan. He was indifferent to money — just enough to get by was fine. He even found using the US dollars Wen Dong gave him troublesome, since they needed exchanging.

Wen Dong's opinion of Ye Mo greatly improved — he was outrageously capable, easy to talk to, and indifferent to money. With his skills, killing her and taking her money would be as easy as eating and drinking. Yet from start to now, he hadn't glanced at her money box or questioned why the payout was only fifty thousand for such a risk.

He never asked who she was, what she did, or where she was going — he seemed like just a passerby. Maybe he really was, but definitely not an ordinary one.

"Do you have a phone?" Wen Dong tried to make friends.

"No, I like peace and quiet," Ye Mo answered, letting Wen Dong understand he didn't like making acquaintances.

Wen Dong said no more — she wasn't an annoying woman.

Three hours later, they arrived in Luyang. Ye Mo stayed in a small inn; Wen Dong took his photo and left. She returned at three in the afternoon the next day.

She hadn't lied — Ye Mo's ID was ready, still under his name, but his registered address was a rural area in Luyang. Ye Mo didn't care — there were too many people named Ye Mo in this world.

Wen Dong handed Ye Mo fifty thousand yuan and gave him the box with documents and the model, saying she no longer needed it.

Ye Mo saw the box wasn't heavy and tossed it aside. He packed the contents into a plastic bag and put it in his backpack, then said goodbye to Wen Dong.

That night, Ye Mo took a bus to Xianshan, the southernmost city of Huzhong province. Xianshan borders Xianghuai province, which borders Guinan province. The Guixiang mountain range runs through all three — a major mountain range in Huaxia.

Guilin, Ye Mo's destination, was in Guinan. Now in Xianshan, he had to cross Xianghuai to get there, then reach Guilin city at Guinan's southern edge.

After arriving in Xianshan, Ye Mo wasn't in a hurry anymore. It was thousands of miles from Ninghai; even if the Song family knew he killed Song Shaowen, they wouldn't find him here soon. Besides, even if they tracked the BMW route to Ninghai and then to him, it would take time.

After staying one night in Xianshan, Ye Mo went shopping. He planned to change clothes. To prevent being targeted again, he bought a pack of iron nails from a hardware store — hundreds in one pack. For most people, nails as hidden weapons were ridiculous, but for Ye Mo, they sufficed.

After buying the nails, Ye Mo casually browsed a mall. He noticed the clothes were expensive — brand stores everywhere. For Ye Mo, clothes just had to fit and be wearable; brands didn't impress him. Could they be better than cultivation robes? Plus, he didn't have much money.

Dressed plainly, Ye Mo attracted no attention in such brand stores.

Just as he was leaving, he saw a well-dressed man trying to steal a small leather bag from a middle-aged man who was distracted on the phone, clearly unaware.

Curious how the thief would break the genuine leather bag, Ye Mo was watching when a similarly well-dressed young man came up and whispered to Ye Mo, "Kid, if you keep staring I'll gouge your eyes out. Get lost."

Ye Mo's eyes turned cold. Without hesitation, he lifted his foot and kicked the young man squarely in the face.
