"So, you're telling me that Kylia just left us…in the middle of a war!" Rosa screeched in exasperation at the Lieutenant Colonel of the 5th Battalion. "We're literally about to defeat Hyrule and she just left?!"
The poor Lieutenant Colonel's back ran cold with sweat and his face drained of color. Earlier, he was walking to Kylia's makeshift command in Kakariko Village Clan Building when he noticed a note on the door signed by Kylia.
When he opened it and read it, his eyebrows rose higher than some birds could fly.
Kylia had left the war zone!
At first, he tried to hide what had happened as such news could be a major blow to morale. Eventually, Rosa met up with him at the main entrance of Kakariko Village after looking for Kylia herself. Stuck in a tight corner, the Lieutenant Colonel could only spill the beans.
"What is she thinking! We were so close! ARHHHHHG!"
Teething with anger, Rosa kicked a microwave sized stone lying in the snow and sent it flying towards the stone cliffs where it broke on impact with a loud bang!
"I don't want to die. I don't want to die this way!" The Lieutenant Colonel prayed silently.
"Get me the Colonel!"
…
Over by the Great Fairy Fountain Forest a Hylian with long black hair and two arms was trudging through the snowy forested floor.
After the conquest of Kakariko, Kylia had a chance to look through some of the Sheikah scrolls containing Sheikah techniques.
Curious, she'd flipped through the scrolls, and one had caught her attention: a Sheikah disguise technique, meant for infiltration and espionage.
It was a powerful transformation magic that could alter or hide hair, eyes, the shape of one's face, height, weight, wings, and horns. Even regrowing limbs, although lacking the dexterity and sense of touch needed for combat.
Bored from waiting around for the 6th Battalion to arrive she had decided to try the technique for fun.
And surprisingly for Kylia she was able to master Sheikah Transformation on the first attempt.
After working for nearly thirty years doing nothing but paperwork and fighting, she was thoroughly tired of that life.
She needed to escape!
So, she packed her valuables in a large pack along with Zirka sheathed at her side Kylia smoothly slipped past her ignorant Airmen encamped around Kakariko Village.
Hmm…they still needed more training!
Sneaking past the encampment guards successfully Kylia used Sheikah Transformation to shrink her height from 1.86 meters tall to 1.70 meters or 5.7 in imperial units and changed her appearance to that of a Hylian wearing a Hylian Set of clothes.
Even though Kylia had escaped from Kakariko Village her siblings might have started looking for her. With Valor eyesight they could easily spot her from kilometers away so it's best to stay low.
Now free, all Kylia wants to do now is explore the novelties of this world and her first destination on her new adventure is the famous Great Fairy Fountain.
After an hour of searching the Great Fairy Fountain came into view, a large Brussel sprout-like plant with mushrooms as steps and fairies flying about. Though the fairies scattered away when they sensed her presence.
Arriving in front of the steps Kylia grimaced as she placed her boot on the mushrooms.
She did not like mushrooms.
Climbing up those steps Kylia came within two arms lengths from the plant walls before a voice beckoned her from inside the sprout.
"Sweet girl…please listen to my story…"
"Yes." Kylia curtly replied.
"I am the Great Fairy Cotera. This place was once a beautiful spring. But as time passed fewer and fewer travelers arrived to offer me Rupees. As a result, my power has abandoned me. I'm nearly powerless now, so I beg your help. I need Rupees to become whole again."
"All I need is your 100 Rupees."
"Once my power is restored, I can help you do great things, little girl."
"Now…If you have the Rupees, hand them over to me. Quickly!"
Cotera poked her arm out of the plant with her giant palm facing up.
"In order for me to regain my power, I need 100 Rupees."
Kylia's face darkened as she took out 100 rupees. In the Kingdom of Kylia, she had a net worth of 10,000 Kon and was considered wealthy. However, in Hyrule, Kon were nearly worthless. Those 100 Rupees were all she had taken with her before running away.
Right when Kylia was about to hand over the 100 Rupees Zirka raised her voice and warned.
"Kylia! Don't listen to that swindler of a fairy! She's ripping you off!"
As if reacting to Zirka's words Cotera's giant hand flexed to snatch the small pouch of Rupees from Kylia's grasp. Kylia, warned by Zirka, was even faster and leapt off the mushroom pedestal, reverting to her original form.
"NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!"
With a roar of despair Cotera's Great Fairy Fountain opened to reveal the Great Fairy herself, bursting from the flower bud in a spray of pollen and petals, all five meters of her looming over Kylia with tears streaming down her face and an expression of pure, wounded betrayal.
"You dare doubt the great Cotera's business model?!" she wailed, giant hands clutching where a heart would be. "It's only 100 Rupees! Do you have any idea of how much power it takes to enchant the gear of the Sheikah and travelers who pass by?"
"I only had 100 Rupees!" Kylia retorted.
"HAH! I knew it!" Zirka mischievously giggled like a little child. "Fewer and fewer travelers? Next to one of the most famous villages in Hyrule? Impossible! You're a cheat! A conman!"
Cotera froze mid-sob, giant eyes narrowing at the sword now visible at Kylia's hip.
"...Did that sword just talk?"
Kylia rolled her eyes.
"Rude! I saw that!"
Cotera's tear-streaked face went through a rapid, almost comical sequence of expressions betrayal, offense, curiosity, and a constipated expression all in about two seconds' flat.
"A talking sword and a winged Hylian," she repeated, leaning closer with the unhurried, ignoring Kylia's attempt to shuffle backward away from the mushroom steps. "I have never seen a talking sword before. Even the Hero's Sword from what I know of does not speak. And you, those wings, the hair, the uniform…are you, Kylia? The Demon Queen of the West?"
"Sorry if I sound rude but that's what the last few visitors have been talking about, especially the Sheikah. Although from first appearances you don't look anywhere close to a monster. I don't believe in the rumors the crazy ninjas have anyways. Tell me, what's a nice little girl like you wandering around here in that disguise. I already know the Sheikah village to the west had already been occupied by the Kylians. Why are you hiding from your own people?"
"Heh! Guess!"
Embarrassed, Kylia scoffed and turned her head to the side.
"Huh? Oh…Ho Hoh! I see, somethings should be left as secrets." Cotera replied with a knowing smile. "Now, about the Rupees…"
"Eager for money aren't we, fairy? Not so fast! Your tricks won't fool me!" Zirka interrupted. "Can Kylia upgrade any of her gear or not? If not, we're paying little to nothing!"
Kylia followed Zirka's reasoning and nodded in agreement.
"Hmmm…What a sly fellow, so stingy with money." Grumbling, Cotera acquiesced. "Fine, I cannot upgrade any of the gear you possess with the materials you have in hand, which is none at all!"
"But I still really need those Rupees badly. War is bad for business, and your occupation of these areas hasn't made it any better. At least donate 10 Rupees and I can fulfill any request you have that is within my power the next time we meet. So please! I need those Rupees!"
"Fine." Kylia handed over 10 Rupees faster than Zirka could retort.
Holding the Rupees near her chest Cotera exclaimed with glee as wisps of purple smoke wafted from the fountain's waters.
"I feel the rush! HAAAAAAAAAAA!"
Holding her nose to avoid breathing in the fumes Kylia waved her goodbyes at the weird fairy and continued her adventure.
