smiling at the duo, Alec's face changed from annoyed to surprised and like it was my imagination playing me, his face lost all expression. i walked over to the seat Mrs Birkin offered me, i sat down "thank you Mrs. Birkin" i say smiling innocently at her
"you're welcome dear, let me go and call my husband and we'll be right down, please don't wait to start eating" she said, walking out of the dining, facing the table my eyes caught the red wine on the table. finally something i like, stretching my hands i picked it up and poured a glass for myself quietly sipping.
Katherine's glare would have made holes in my forehead by now, looking up from my wine glass "is there something on my forehead" i asked creasing my eyebrows
"do you even know who you're talking to" she said, her face contorting into a frown, with that much make up on her face she was beginning to look like the joker "of course, you're Katherine, Mrs. Birkin's daughter" i said taking another sip of wine
"but you still haven't answered my question, is there something on my forehead?" i asked again, her frown deepened, sighing i dropped the glass of wine on the table. i wasn't here for drama, and i was exhausted already from work.
suddenly the frown i saw plastered on her face turned to a smile, "but i don't know who you are", i glanced at her for a few seconds, gazing at Alec who was quietly watching me "My name is Adelia Millie, you should know cause your mum was expecting me" i reply
"i don't bother remembering people who aren't important and only like getting in the way of others" she said
i twitched, trying to calm the storm in my head "is that so lady Katherine" i said, smiling sweetly at her
staring at Alec i cursed him, he was the reason im going through drama, how did i not know he was Mr. Black in the first place, i would have avoided him, the fact i didn't realize he was the owner of the hospital i was admitted in, how did i overlook so much glaring evidence, i wanted to slap my head with my palm.
"its been a while Miss millie, how have you been" Alec finally spoke
"you're asking like you don't already know, with the person you sent to monitor me" i said
"you found out" he said calmly wiping his hand with a napkin
i frowned, he just spoke as if what he did wasn't weird at all "did you think i wouldn't, please tell them to stop following me"
"you have no right to tell Alec what to do, for Alec to assign someone to monitor you, you really are suspicious, the girl from nowhere" Katherine interjected
i raised an eyebrow, this girl was really trying to pick a with me "is that the nickname, you guys finally gave me?, a girl from nowhere, i like it" i said making her frown again, i wasn't done and she's already mad, she reminded me of veronica
"you don't need to speak on my behalf miss Katherine, i don't need your back up" he said with a stern voice, Katherine's face dropped "but i was trying to...."
" then stop trying, i will do whatever i please with my resources " he said interrupting Katherine, i was beginning to like this guy, if he only he wasn't annoying and weird, my lips curved up into a smile. Katherine's was about to retort, when her mother walked in with her husband, a smile stayed on her lips while both her and her husband took their sit
"like i said I'm honored to have both of you here, i'm sorry it's so small i will definitely invite you both for my birthday" she said, like it was an encouragement, she still hasn't said a word about what her motive is.
"so if i may ask, why did you invite me here?" i asked
"my my Miss Millie you're too much in a haste" she said, almost giggling but her smile never reached her eyes
i was suspicious of this woman but i don't feel threatened by her "but since you asked i will tell you" she said, i picked the glass of wine taking a drink.
"Miss Millie i've come to make a deal and discuss Alec's engagement" i spat out the wine in my mouth "you what?".
