"That's it for the meeting today" I said, scrolling through the documents on my table, everyone on the table started to disperse and go back to various jobs, the stats were looking good and my company was doing better than I expected
"may I come in?" Tony asked walking into the meeting, didn't know why he asked if he wasn't going to wait for a response. "Tony, how can i help you" I asked still scanning the documents. "you've got an invitation for dinner" he replied, pulling a sit beside me and sitting down.
"a what?" i paused looking at him
"an invitation to dinner" he repeated
"from who?" i asked, i wanted to decline immediately but on second thought maybe the person can be useful and to think the person could not access where i lived then its someone that i'm not close to
"from Mrs. Birkin" he said reading from the envelope, "gimme that" i snatched the envelope from Tony, opening the letter it read
'good day Miss Millie, how have you been lately, i'm writing this letter to invite to my humble home for dinner, i do hope you'll accept my request and i can't wait for us to meet again.

a dinner, she didn't state her motive, turning the paper to check if there was more on it, first glance at that lady is enough to know that she very calculated and won't do what won't benefit her, i guess i'll pay a visit to know what she wants
"so are you going?" Tony asked, stretching his neck to see if he could take a little peak
"why are you still here?, do you not have enough work, i dont pay you to slack" i said glaring at him, "shoo get back to work, or i'll find a new managing director" i said gathering up the documents and walking out of the meeting room
"you know i'm irreplaceable" he yelled at my retreating figure
walking to my office, i rang my PA, arranging the documents on my desk, it was five pm already and dinner was by six, i needed to go home, change and contact her for an address, fortunately she put her number on the envelope, someone knocks on the door "come in" my PA walks in
"you called for me ma'am" she said bowing slightly
"yes Lily, i'll be leaving earlier than i planned, so if there's any documents i need to look at put them on my table and if there's you want me to look at make sure to send to my email" i said, picking up my bag, walking out of the office. hurrying to my car, i drove quickly to my villa.
arriving in my villa i rushed to my room, taking a shower, i picked out a red dress put on light make up and was already out by 6:30, texting the number on the envelope, the address was soon sent to me, starting my car i drove to the location, luckily it wasn't too far
parking my car, i got down from the vehicle, Mrs. Birkin was already waiting at the front porch "ah you made it, it's good to see you" she said welcoming me with smile. "its a pleasure to be here mrs birkin, thank you for inviting me" i said smiling back at her
"please come in" she said, leading me into the building, i walked behind her into the mansion, the place was beautiful it wasn't as big as the villa Alec gifted me but it was warm, felt like home i almost felt nostalgia but where i grew up stopped feeling like home sooner for me to remember what home felt like.
"i hope i wasn't late" i said, "no you were right on time, i was more worried you would refuse to come cause of your busy schedule but made it" she replied.
so far knowing her motive was still a failure, but i began to understand when i walked in to see Alec seated on the long dining table with a girl i could only guess was Mrs. Birkin daughter i can see the resemblance beside him fawning like some lost chick.
Alec was focused on his meal that he neither noticed me nor the girl talking endlessly beside him, i didn't know if i should leave or just stand here and laugh "please have a seat" Mrs. Birkin said, bringing me back to why i was here in the first place.
just as she said that, the duo seated looked up and finally acknowledged my presence.
