Chapter 7 - Vietnam

John POV

I tried everything I could to get rid of the woman on top of me, but all the struggle was for nothing. From the outside, Reagan seemed to be a woman whom you could kill with a finger, but her strength tells a different story.

'Is it just that I'm weak? Or is it this world?' I asked myself.

She laughed at the sight of me struggling and said, "You're weaker than I expected. Are you perhaps sick?"

As she laughed, she didn't notice me grabbing the knife at my waist.

I chuckled and spoke to distract her, "Well… you're just strong as all hell."

Before she could respond, I moved my head to the right and stabbed her side thrice.

*Bang!*

She shot the revolver but missed, as I had already moved my head. She tried to aim once more, but the pain from her side caused her to stop aiming and clutch her side. Weakened, I managed to get her off me and take out my rifle from my back and shot her face right off her body.

*Bang!*

After the two shots, I heard people outside opening the door and rushing in. From the sound of it, at least 5 people were entering, all armed, as I heard a metallic sound.

Because the basement was a tight place, I put my rifle back on my back and took the two revolvers from the ground. I placed my back on the wall from the side of the doors and camped till someone came in yelling,

"Miss Reagan!"

*Bang*

Before he could fully enter, there was already a bullet in his head.

As the person's body hit the floor, I heard a shout, "Someone is in the basement! Get everyone and ready for a fight!"

After giving out orders, the man continued, "I don't know who you are, but you're fucking dead! There are over 100 men outside, you can't escape!"

A few seconds later, more and more footsteps entered the house. Then a few more seconds, the men standing behind the door of the basement finally entered all at once.

Since the door was small, only 3 people could enter.

*Bang!*

*Bang!*

*Bang!*

All headshots.

One more man tried to enter, but after seeing the three new dead bodies, he stopped and stepped back.

was fixin' to shoot when he suddenly backed off. I sneered,

"I got plenty o' lead for you bastards! Step on up—who's next in line?!"

The man outside scoffed, "We can do this all day. We've got food, and what do you have?"

Knowing that he was right, I looked at my gun and thought to myself, 'Well, I ain't got much of a choice now, do I?'

I had no grenades to deal with groups of people. And so I reloaded my revolvers and took a deep breath. I ran towards the door, and as I was about to show myself and start shooting, everything suddenly slowed down like before.

Bright golden lights were everywhere, and all the men outside seemed to be affected. My mind raced, and my blood boiled. But I had no time to think, and so I started shooting.

*Bang*

When I shot while time was slowed down, I saw red markers on the bodies I shot. The bullets just made it out of my gun and were still in the air when suddenly everything turned back to normal.

All of the bullets I shot hit their mark, and now the stair was filled with dead bodies.

"What in tarnation?!" I yelled.

However, I had no time to think, as more men entered the house. Each man I saw quickly died from my bullets, but there were too many of them, and I had to reload. In the end, there were too many of them.

But then the yellow lights came back, and time slowed down once again.

I quickly reloaded my revolver and shot my way up the stairs. Once time got back to normal, everyone inside the house was dead, and I was already at the window where I came. However, as I was about to jump out the window, my body suddenly felt tired, and a sharp pain struck my head.

As the pain continued, I lost control of my body and fell out of the window. Luckily, the window wasn't far from the ground, but the sudden "thud" sound was heard from the front yard as I heard someone yell, "At the back! He's trying to escape!"

Still dizzy, I clenched my hair and started running from the forest while the Gang members shot at me from a distance, with two bullets making their way to my infraspinatus and the other to my thighs.

With adrenaline helping me, I ran towards the forest while also shooting back and hitting a few people.

When I finally made my way toward the forest, I changed my revolvers to my rifle and camped behind a big tree, where I shot some gang members who were still chasing me. However, after a few minutes of sitting down and shooting, I noticed more and more men were entering the forest. And so I had to run once more.

I knew that my blood would get tracked, so I tried my best to hide the blood with leaves. Although not perfect, it could increase the chances of them not finding me.

Soon, I noticed that I could now only see a few people. I sighed in relief, but I wasn't done yet. There were still a few people on my tail, and I couldn't see some of them from the ground. And so I climbed a tree and aimed my rifle.

"Shouldn't've followed me, ya damn fools."

One of the men heard what I said and yelled, "The trees! The trees are speaking!"

*Bang!"

Before he could finish, he was shot dead.
