Ally falls, through the void, breathing hard. Eyes clenched in fear, before... she lands. Fur is up... comedically, in utter fear. As she freezes for a few seconds, and looks around... an infinite black void, with some water at her paws. Then... with a small sound, Mr. Fox lands, as the light above them disappears, before a subtle glow of static cracks spread through the liquid, making it easy to see. Ally asks, "Ok... we are here," as she shakes her fur, and unstiffens. Mr. Fox nods, and says, "Yeah... this is the foundation, the core. Follow." They walk through the liquid, until something is visible over the horizon. It gets bigger, and closer unnaturally fast, as they arrive at it. A rustic, real television screen, with flickering static. Unnatural for the animation style of their bodies. Sitting in front of it are two beings made of static. One sits close to the TV. A little too close, and is a small boy, with fox ears, and a tail. Made of static, every last part. The other... is her. "W-What... is this?" Mr. Fox replies, "Our souls. The bodies you see are projections made of the realm's matter." She notices how energy flows through the water under them all, sparking rapidly, between the figures, and the TV. She asks, "What's... the TV?" Mr. Fox says, "A part of the realm, given form, through a memory, and metaphor." She asks, "W-What part?" Mr. Fox sighs, "The realm's singularity, give or take. An infinite loop of energy, that cycles around thought, souls, and realm-specific energy. Like a reactor."
She approaches closer... to the human woman, with fox ears, and tail. Its head slowly turns, before Mr. Fox pulls her back. "It's best to leave them be... disconnecting them... I'm... not sure what would happen. But my every instinct says it would kill me, at least." She shakes, backing up. She looks deeply at Mr. Fox... he is quiet. He says, "Anyway... I came here to show you how I see Earth." He gets up, and walks behind the TV. She follows, and follows a power cord coming from the TV. As they arrive on a beach of black sand, a rather small area. With a puddle of water in the center, with the cable reaching into the puddle. Within the puddle... Ally sees white light, and hears countless voices. Ally asks, "What does the cord lead to?" Mr. Fox says, "Earth... your Earth. It used to lead to my Earth for quite a number of years, until a being came, and teleported my body on that Earth, to your Earth, along with the entire station projec-... well... I guess you can know that. My body is in a complex device, the one designed... to siphon the realm into electricity, but ended up being a broadcaster. Furthermore... my body is nearly dead. It's on life support, powered by my own realm, and the realm is keeping it alive. But... this cord leads to you, me, and every shadow fox on Earth, out doing shit. It's a two-way connection."
There is a quiet for a while, as they sit. She asks, "How... do you control it?" Mr. Fox says, "With song... or anything." He begins to slowly hum a lullaby, as a static chromatic channel arcs from the puddle, and pulls taut into the sky. They walk, and then find themselves on the surface, in the quiet forest once more. As on the ground, sits a glowing, chromatic thread, as Mr. Fox continues to sing, as it eventually forms into a screen, that floats in the air, and they see... a coffee shop, way, way past open hours. Quiet, dark through. Their view is from a TV in the upper corner of the room. Mr. Fox stops humming, as he says, "When I broadcast, I am broadcasting. I push the realm energy into EM waves, that ripple out large-scale, and can contact anything receiving them, and then control the local area with the psychic energy. Allowing the realm to take control, and more. What you call the fox frequency. I program the wave with custom logic, and search parameters. Though it takes a lot of understanding... and... work to get it to respond." He smiles, as he watches the TV, then takes a claw, and cuts the TV's small tether of chromatic static. As the TV disappears into static. As he walks, a staircase forms, and they return to the foundation.
Soon, they sit by the well to Earth. As Ally asks, "How do I do it?" Mr. Fox smiles, and says, "It's not easy... but it's simple. Try... to find your body. Let's connect to a screen near your body. To do this... first, you need to begin singing... feeling, projecting your truest emotions through the air. Infuse your needs, and desires, and emotions into the song, and it will work, if it's enough." She is quiet... she then begins to hum. It does nothing. She begins to sing... "Come on now... please see me, yes see me now, yes..." It does not work. Mr. Fox frowns... "You are thinking too logically. Feel first, think after. Through it, flowing through it." She frowns, "This is hard." She stamps her foot, and the pool ripples in response to honest emotions. She frowns... "Seriously, you respond to that?" It ripples mischievously. She asks, "Is it conscious?" He says, "Eh... kinda? It is made of thought-formed energy, it responds. If you want, we can do a duet, and I slowly hand it off to you. That should help you get the hang of it."
She sighs, and says, "Yeah... we can. Just... I do have a question before we continue... when... those assassins tried to kill me. Why... did I go out of control? Karlen was vague, saying 'it's instinct'." Mr. Fox thinks, paw on his chin, as he says, "Because it's the realm's instincts... my instincts, or what it built up over years. It just gained its first taste of new life from you, and now... something tried to end that. It responded. The realm responds faster than you can think... that is how it was able to catch a bullet, as it just began to tear through your skull. Its energy was covering your brain, and head. So of course it finds it easy to see stuff around there, faster than any eye can see, because a bullet overlapped its energy fie-..." She looks at him, and all his crazy words. As he says, "Eh... I read a lot of science fiction before I became this. Was a science nerd. Though it was during WW2 in my world. But regardless... uh, it's unlikely you will be able to change the core aspects of the realm that were locked in... by me years ago. The foxes... the shadow fox transformation, the structure of the foundation, the animated look. It's just... kind of part of the realm's identity now, because it mimicked me for so long, it's too stable. I can't even turn it off, or change it."
He goes quiet for a time... morning almost... his time on Earth. As he says, "When I entered here... first time... there was not even space. There... was just... energy... potential... and me. I needed space... so it made space. Because I wanted space. I had no body... I wanted a body... it... it... tried to make one. Kept failing until I carefully structured one." His voice is quiet... stuttered. Weak. Trauma. She hears it in every word. She wonders how much he has grown up here... a child... stuck in this place for how long... She asks, "How... long have you been here? In the realm?" He goes quiet, and says, "68 years. I was born 1933. Then jumped a few years when transported here." He is quiet. A quiet fills, before Ally has a thought... she asks, "Do you know what a nuke is?" He is quiet, and then says... confused... "Uh... no?" She frowns... "Oh... you were the Manhattan Project in your... world." It makes sense. Too... much sense. He is confused by the term.
He shakes his head, and says, "Come now, we got a duet to do. No time for lollygagging." She sighs, "Ok, let's do this." He nods, "Good. Let's just follow my flow here. Follow your instincts, be open. Though keep in mind your goal, see your body through the nearest screen to it. Training, good training." She nods. He slowly begins to hum a beat. As the pool of water ripples. Growing slowly. As he then she joins his humming. As she slowly feels power grow in her limbs. She breathes... harder. Faster... in time with beat. As she feels... an energy flow through her mind. Memories... calling. As he she slowly takes the lead. Mr. Fox... only sings the first few notes... as she takes control fully... almost on instinct. She feels... almost ecstasy fill her. Mr. Fox smiles knowingly... he knows how good a song like this can feel. Then... the water ripples, as a vision of her body slowly forms on its surface. Through shadowy figures under its surface, it almost shows the shape of her apartment, as waves of energy radiate off her. She breathes in calmly... as she sings the slow, calm, awe-filled song. Then... her memory... pulses... she wants more... more... control... her instincts tell her to follow. As she feels the energy. For an instant... she can feel something expanding her mind... like her subconscious is more than her... larger than her. In truth... her subconscious mixes with the realm, as thousands of memories are searched... for the perfect song.
Then... she latches... she wants to feel... powerful. She begins by singing...
"Once there was a girl... so quiet, and meek.
She wanted to help the world... but could not seek.
She walked far, with guns, and badge.
Working hard, with no repent."
She turns, and walks... in a trance.
"She met a god, so strong, and full.
In control, so in control.
She hated it all... hated it most.
The weakness she felt... in her bones."
The music slowly builds. As instruments form from the waters below floating, with no one playing them. She then sings, like an opera singer.
"I wanted more! I wanted power!
Because the gods at be, kept pushing me!
They hunt me down, change me well.
Mold me like clay, without pre-tell."
She gives a look at Mr. Fox... not a nice one. He frowns quietly... guilty. She goes quiet... as the low cello waves through the background. She sings,
"But... I don't blame... for a dying man cannot be blamed.
I wanted life... I wanted power... and even with the costs... I now have it..."
She is quiet. As her body shivers.
"But... power I have... is not... what... I... want."
The song cuts off, the cello falls into the water pool. She cuts herself off, as the static flowing through the water of the foundation lowers slightly. She sighs. No longer singing. "Sorry..." she is quiet. He nods. "It hurts... I know..." he replies. Sad, kind looks in his eyes. He sighs, and says,
"You did good today. I recommend you relax here. Be more careful... you are holding half the authority of the realm. If you... try... and if your emotions are stronger than mine... will... stronger than mine. The entire realm will follow you... even to war... even to death." She is quiet, but nods. He turns quietly, and says, "The realm is strong enough to shred souls to bits. So... be careful. With strong enough emotions... you can tear a hole into reality itself, and cause ruin." He looks at her sternly, gravely for a few moments. Then leaves the foundation through a stairway. She stays for a few moments. Before leaving as well. Quiet... unsure.
