Chapter 2 - The Undying Manual

Leo's feet landed on an ancient floorboard, his eyes narrowing as he glared around.

'Where am I?'

First thing first, Leo did not ever imagine that he would be transmigrated into a novel he's already read so it did not cross his mind at the moment.

He tried to make sure that he was safe. The science fiction story he's read, an interdimensional array like the one that had appeared in reality is used to either conjure or send demons to where they belonged— the dark arena. So that is why he was worried that his life was in danger. But looking at the state of things, nothing seemed out of the ordinary.

But a split second later, his heart shifted. On the table, lies an old book— not the story book to be precise, but the one he's remembered very well in the novel.

Leo immediately recalled how that novel had started. The MC had been frantically searching for something in a dark wooden room exactly like the room he currently is in now.

Leo had not seen the name of the book on that table, but he remembered that book— the one that the villain had stolen from him using the woman that he loved. It is that same book that helped this same villain to achieve eternal life and unparalleled power that could shatter realms and parallel universes.

Leo's lips opened and he mumbled something, actually calling out the name of the book.

"Undying Manual."

Moving in quick strides, he arrived at the table and grabbed the oddly binded and blue manual and it was exactly as he had guessed. And immediately, he understood what must have happened to him.

"Did I transmigrate? Seems like it."

In this world, the manual is supposed to make him survive the incoming apocalypse. The MC's father had given this book to him, warning him of a great devastation that is to come upon the entire universe. He also specified that if it arrives, the manual would help him survive and grow to the peak. However, the MC had been foolish enough to sell his survival all because of love.

Leo gritted his teeth.

And to add to his anger, the MC's name is actually Leonardo except that the novel did not give him a surname.

Leo chuckled at the unfortunate turn of events. He had wanted to rewrite another sequel for the author, Unknown_Pen but instead, he became the MC and given a chance to correct the errors that the original MC had made.

Immediately, Leo grabbed the undying manual and he looked around for his cosmic ring. Here, a cosmic ring was like a space in a ring used for storing things. This space can only be accessed by the owner's blood. He kept the manual inside and securely stored the ring.

The situation at the moment was the kind that ushered others into the medieval era so Leo knows exactly that this wooden house isn't just his room. Many wooden houses were built by the organization for several deputy officers working for the government in the production of mechanics, robots and all others. The previous MC would probably know how to make them, but Leo here knows nothing about them and this is something that scared the shit out of him.

The MC was a trusted science freak, a genius, someone who even the government depends on. And now, Leo here, clueless, novice and a noob seemed to tremble. He totally forgot this one fact— that very soon, he would be needed.

"Ah, how do I sort this out?"

The moment he starts showing any sign of decline or the government notices that he's no longer a genius, Leo knows that the entire plot in this world would change drastically and he wouldn't be able to predict the villain's moves.

"Ah, I'm screwed."

But then, a knock came from the door, loud and desperate.

Leo's body stiffened.

He held his breath unknowingly, however, more desperate knocks came through the door.

Leo decided to come up with a plan. He's currently living his life as the MC of the novel he's already read and in this scenario, people like him were given a weird pill that prevents humans from ever falling sick. In truth, that pill is supposed to make their immune system live forever therefore, they remain alive on earth for much longer, which is why the first man that died a normal human died at 500 years. Unless they are not downright killed on the spot.

Then, they produced another pill that made it impossible for humans to fall sick. The difference between the first pill and this one is that the first pill makes the immune system live forever, doesn't mean one cannot be infected by a simple cough or sore throat. The second pill however kills the bacteria that enters the body even before they form a platonic husk that turns into illness. So Leo cannot use sickness as an excuse or they would question his credibility and that would be the first loophole.

Slowly, he stood up when the knocks grew persistent. He walked to the door knowing exactly why these men in red armors had come to his room. He turned the door knob, feigning sleep.

"Oh thank goodness. We were already worried that something had happened."

Leo managed to gather his composture like the original Leo would have done in the novel.

"What is it? Tell me."

"The intergalactic armory is radiating a bright halo. The temperature had spiked and would melt the entire infrastructure. I think the heat sensors in the armory had gone haywire. Only you can fix it."

Leo's eyes widened.

"Intergalactic armory? A bright halo? Heat sensors?"

His expression changed.

In the original novel, the problem had been a massive radiation intercom system which lost its signal system and he is supposed to code the system back to its peak state. He doesn't know coding, that would have been a huge headache.

But now, it says armory? Heat sensors?

Leo chuckled already realizing what exactly is going on.
