Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: A Second Chance

Rain was falling heavily on a night. The moon was high up in the sky, but it had been split in half. Screams, gunshots, explosions, and many more horrifying noises could be heard in the distance. It was an especially dark night for everyone on the planet Earth.

"Why did this have to happen now?" A male voice said as a young man could be seen running away as fast as he could, dread on his especially handsome face.

He wore what looked like a black colored military uniform with a large gun strapped on his back and a weird pistol in his hands. But even with this weapon, the young man ran as fast as his legs could carry him without looking back.

Suddenly, the whistling of wind reached his ears as a red laser whirred over his shoulder. Behind him were three entities dressed in weird clothing that covered their whole body, leaving no part of their skin exposed. They had a humanoid figure, if not because they were twice the size of a grown man, and the long, muscular tail sticking out of their backside.

Cold sweat ran down the back of the young man as he felt that, but he didn't dare to look back, talk less stop running. The sound of three guns being shot echoed as three fist-sized holes appeared in the body of the young man, slowly killing him.

He landed on his back, his face staring at the once whole moon, previously a symbol of hope on earth, now broken into two pieces. The sound of the falling rain seemed to echo as the young man considered everything that had led to this point.

It all happened twenty years ago when a weird energy spread across the Earth, killing some and giving some powers. Animals and even plants mutated, gaining sentience and special powers along with that. Some humans got powers while others could not handle the energy and became zombie-like creatures without any will and only basic instincts.

An entity known as the Mother of Gaia called the humans who were able to withstand this energy, telling them to use their ability to survive.

They did as they were told and survived, adapting well to their new situation.

Everything seemed to be going well for twenty years when suddenly disaster struck. A spatial crack as big as a country appeared, and from this crack came beings thrice the size of humans, way stronger than humans, even with their newfound powers. The humans tried putting up a fight, but it was all futile in the end, and humans quickly became the losing side.

It all leads up to this point.

The young man lay in a pool of blood as he recalled all of this. He, Zayden Vega, wasn't an important person. Before the apocalypse, he was an unknown student.

He managed to survive but was still relatively weak and unknown. During the apocalypse, he was given the position of a foot soldier, unimportant, and he was going to die an unimportant death.

Thinking about all this, he couldn't help but let out a self-deprecating laugh, slightly shaking his head. "Never thought that I'd die a virgin," he thought out loud as life slowly slipped away from him.

He closed his eyes, but at that moment, an ethereal green glow covered his body, mixed with some hints of cyan and violet colors. A few seconds later, he died after living an uneventful and unimportant life.

In a very big and bustling city, there was a college campus. It was very spacious and just as bustling as the rest of the city.

Inside a dimly lit room, a young man suddenly sprang up with sweat on his forehead while taking deep breaths each time.

He clutched his head tightly with his fingers, attempting to stop the pain that was assaulting his brain during his nap.

"Arrgh!!"

He clutched the side of his bunk bed, his fingers digging into his mattress. He ate into his pillow, trying his best to bear the pain.

His groans caught the attention of his two roommates. One of them rushed to his side, with a headset on his head.

"Hey Zayden, are you alright?" he asked softly, but received no answer as Zayden continued to groan in pain.

"Darian, I think we'll need to take him to the infirmary, he isn't responding," he said to another young man who was seated on a chair playing games in front of a computer screen.

It was at this point that Zayden suddenly landed on the bed heavily, his breathing erratic. He slowly turned his head to the side to see a blonde-haired young man with cobalt blue eyes. He had a handsome face and was an obvious playboy and lady killer. One could deduce this much from the slight smirk on his face that seemed subconscious.

" Who am I? Where am I? Who are you? Are you my brother? But you're so ugly. Am I ugly as well?" Zayden thought out loud.

The expression on the face of the young man changed. "Don't tell me..." "Zayden, you've started using Nicotine, right?" His surprised expression changed as he suddenly started laughing uproariously.

"You've finally become a man. This calls for a celebration," he said, " but first of all, let's clear up some things. "I'm not your brother, I'm Tyrel Cassian, the prince charming of every girl on campus. "And you should be_"

Before Tyrel could continue talking, Zayden cut him off. "Shut up, Tyrel, I'm trying to arrange my thoughts."

Memories of his past life started to rearrange themselves in order in his mind. 'I returned to my body in the past? Is this another timeline, or was I sent back to the past in the same timeline? His eyes widened in realization after understanding somewhat what had happened.

From the merged memories, he had realized that he had either possessed his body from the past or a body in a different timeline, and the memories were the same, or only his memories of the future were sent back.

He suddenly turned his head to look at the confused Tyrel, a weird emotion on his face. It was weird to see a dead person standing in front of you again. He knew how Tyrel died in the future, and the fact that Tyrel was standing in front of him further confirmed his theories.

He turned his head slightly again to see the bulky brown-haired Darian focused on the game in front of him. Suddenly, something hit him.

"Tyrel, what's today's date?" Zayden asked hurriedly, "What's the matter, dude? You've been acting strange since you woke up. What's wrong with you?" Tyrel asked in confusion, "Just answer my question," Zayden said, almost shouting.

"Chill,..." Tyrel said, looking at his phone, "Today's date is the fifteenth of April two thousand twenty-two."

Zayden's heartbeat slowed. Today was the day of the first apocalypse. Even though it wasn't as serious as the second apocalypse, it made the world fall into disarray and many deaths did occur.

"But now I'm here, I'll change everything," he said, conviction on his face.
